Does the book mentions Ahsoka or is it about her mention in Aftermath?

Interesting review.

I've always maintained the writing style had little to do with most of the legit negative reviews.

I defended and liked the book, but I also felt the story was just...OK.

The reviewer mentioned he did not feel invested in Aftermath but did in Life Debt.

That's an excellent sign. And I could relate. For maybe 2/3rds of Aftermath I didn't feel invested. But the disparate parts really came together well toward the end. I came to really like the motley crew, and I was looking forward to their further adventures.

It seems, as others have said, Wendig was really hamstrung by TFA spoiler restrictions. And I do think there was an expectation for the book to be the NEU Zahn Trilogy, justified or not (the reviewer mentions he felt more of the Zahn vibe he was looking for). I also have to wonder if it took Wendig a while to really get his SW story writing "sea legs." He seemed, to me, to get them toward the end of Aftermath and early reviews of Life Debt seem to indicate he's continuing to ride that momentum.

 

Well, there is 400-odd pages for me to have to read first.....

At this point Stymi I remain convinced I will enjoy the ST far more seeing 7-9 in a big block.

Quite a few booksellers do not abide by release dates that strictly.

 

This next statement is morbid and not meant to be insulting, and probably says more about the strangeness of my SW addiction than anything....but...what if something were to...happen?

I have visions of my self on a Yoda-like death bed, surrounded by my children, coughing my final words..."there is... another...Star Wars...sequel."

My children left confused and kinda mad/hurt that my last words to them were about missing the next SW movie.

 

You know what Stymi? That's a bloody stupid post by every measure going.

Y'know I'm actually kind of looking forward to this now. By all accounts I hate Wendig's writing style and I'm not sure anything will change that but the positive response I'm hearing to the events in this books have me a bit more positive. We'll see how far that carries once I read it.

Oh man, the anticipation. I've read Aftermath three times now and enjoyed it more each time (I disliked it the first time actually...and the writing style is still awful) so I'm all set for this. Really enjoying things being tied in with the new films.

 

Let's just say that the people who complained about Aftermath being "too PC" will have a lot more to complain about here.

 

I may have some comments tomorrow - tonight? Too shot, been a bastard of a week.

 

I really wanna know about the fleet admiral. I feel like I won't be able to resist spoilers between now and when I get it on Tuesday though...

Without telling us who it is or isn't, can you tell us if you're happy with the identity of the fleet admiral?

 

Wild theory: The Fleet Admiral is Krennic, who fakes his death at the end of Rogue One.

 

He's actually Troy Denning's Squibs, standing on each other's shoulders.

 

Is it someone we know (or heard about)?
