Yeah, I am dying to see more space battles in a Star Wars movie at some point. ;)

By the way. I like your avatar. Very ironic. :p

Full title is "United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland" but the country is called the "United Kingdom" for short, not Great Britain (which means the Big Island).

I hope the tech in this movie is Star Wars-like. I hate when they introduce Earthly elements into GFFA.

1, The top picture shows the ship that Cassian and Jyn take to Jedha.

2, The bottom picture obviously shows a U-Wing landing on Scarif and disembarking some troops.

Issue one is whether the 'Jedha mssion' U-Wing makes it back to base. K-2SO and Cassian are in the pilot's seats when we see the ship go to light speed so we have to presume that either K-2SO is with Jyn and Cassian when they leave Yavin IV or they meet him on Jedha. We have seen the droid with them when they are walking through the desert but he is not present in the trailer where we see J and C looking at the City from a distance. My guess is the droid is with them all the time just that he is not seen in some shots.

We know that Jyn, Cassian and K-2SO then meet and recruit Baze and Chirrut to the cause. We see them all in the Jedha Underworld and we also see the U-Wing flying down there. We don't see Bodhi but then again he's not the action guy.

We can assume that the Rogue One team depart Yavin IV in a stolen Imperial transport. The question is, is this Bodhi's ship or one that the Rebels have acquired from elsewhere? Either they needed Bodhi for his ship and knowledge or just his knowledge alone (I'm guessing he has a way to get past Scarif's defences).

The team either fly back from Jedha in the U-Wing or in Bodhi's Imperial Transport. I'm guessing the former, with Bodhi as a passenger on the U-Wing and the stolen Imperial transport is already on Yavin IV.

    **********************************************************************

Issue two is how many U-Wings are on the extraction mission to Scarif. I'm guessing that there's maybe two, one with a full contingent of troops the other empty to pick up the Rogue One Team. This would explain Bistan in the empty troop compartment and the other U-Wing disembarking troops. I think they both get destroyed however, the empty one whilst waiting for the R1 team on the beach, the other in mid-air, perhaps out over the sea.

Not sure about Pao piloting though, wasn't he supposed to be the shouty Platoon leader heading up the charge?

Yeah don't think pao is a pilot. We see him on the ground in one of the clips.

Well tech in Rouge One won't be much different than the OT Because they were set in practically the same time.

I probably spend way too much time thinking about this sort of thing, but I can see how with the TIE/sf, the FO felt they had optimized the TIE's potential within a framework of existing engineering that could deliver both quantity AND quality. Not to mention any possible avionics upgrades in the /ln.

At least, that's the reason I use to internally retcon why the FO wouldn't have/use TIE Strikers (or a similarly engineered vehicle) in such a pivotal atmospheric environment like Takodana. If the Striker manipulates its wings like I think it will (or at least, should), then it would be a far more expensive craft to manufacture than a traditional TIE platform.

    As always, IMHO.

But then there is the issue that you can only do so much with a airframe/design before its flaws make any advancement on the design impractical. Considering the TIE/LN was first produced around 18 BBY, you'd think it's development cycle would have been used up by 30 ABY (total of 48 years).
edit: couldn't make up mind whether it was practical or impractical lol
edit2: second edit messed up more than the first

Expense was the main reason given for the TIE LN being as simple as it was. Everything was cut back to the minimum to allow a light and agile fighter that was cheap and easy to produce. All of the advanced versions had extra hull space added for hyperdrives, shields and extra weapons. I would have loved to see some TIE Defenders in TFA, but can only presume that the design was lost in the chaos of the fall of the Empire. To fit all those extras in a standard TIE LN frame would need improvements in miniaturisation of those components. I note that the TIE SF has extra donut rings on it's wing pylons to fit stuff in. We also don't know if the FO TIEs are new build frames or refurbished TIE LNs. I suspect the former.

Hitchcock had a penchant for it. ET got a look in in the PT and they were cueing up to make a guest appearance in TFA. But I'm thinking more about a certain Corrilian freighter showing up in EpIII. Which brings me to my question.....
Which ( within the whole length and breadth of the genre ) starship would you like to see flying past in the background or hanging around in a docking bay somewhere in the upcoming spin-offs?
I propose 'Nell ' from ' Battle beyond the stars' just for the sheer audacity of the design. Or maybe knackered Mk1 Viper in a scrapyard.......

I'd go for a beaten-up old Republic cruiser, like the red one we saw in the opening of TPM. Perhaps seen as a similar appearance to the Falcon in ROTS like mentioned, but maybe just not so off into the distance.

Or maybe Anakin's old pod racer sitting in a remote junkyard somewhere (like the Falcon was in TFA).

They chose tanks rather than STs in Jedha. I expect they better suited the mood they were after.

The AT-ACTs are rumoured to rise up out of the sea, but AT-STs don't seem like the right vehicles to do that.

Chicken Walkers always seem a bit comical. The mood has to be right for them.

They are not tanks though, they are armoured trucks for transporting those orange crates. They could always have given the AT-STs a pair of arms to carry the crates but they would end up looking like Mr Potato Head.

Depends on how accurate the Lego AT-ST box is as it shows it battling partisans on Jedha. I'm assuming it is not an accurate depiction, but there could be chicken walkers there.

The posters in the Pyramid catalogue show AT-STs on what appears to be the pillar or canyon planet.
EDIT: I zoomed in on, and it appears to be Jedha. At first glance, the buildings looked like canyon walls.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Empire used AT-ST's when they come for Galen Erso.

I would be surprised if they do use AT-STs, as it seems a quiet and stealthy approach would be a good tactic. AT-STs clomping around might tip Galen off. Some low-flying TIES arriving after the Death Troopers and Krennic reach Galen might be a nice touch.

Well in the one of trailer's he's stood watching out into the distance, may be he see's them coming and figures there's no use running.
