Carrie Fisher admits to affair with Harrison Ford during ANH filming

I think it's likely Carrie would have Harrison's okay on this. They are still friends and I don't see her going behind his back on this or she would have done it years ago already.

 

Actually, the article said that she called Harrison to give him a heads up that the book is coming out where she talks about the affair. Doesn't sound like she asked for permission though. Harrison was married with two kids at the time. She really shouldn't be talking about this publicly. Would have been nice if she could have shown a little consideration for Harrison's kids and ex-wife.

 

It was 40 years ago and I'm sure Harrison's reputation since has preceded him. His track record for marriage isn't stellar. As far as considerations for his kids and ex-wife... I'm going to have to put that blame on him. If he were worried about it, then perhaps her should've thought about at the time and acted accordingly. He was the one married and should've been the one to not act on anything. Carrie saying nothing for 40 years is pretty considerate, imo. Affairs in Hollywood or even outside of Hollywood - um, shocker? I'm not judging anyone's morals one way or another on this. It happened and we all pretty much suspected as much for decades. I'm glad to have the story straight from her vs some tabloid.

 

yes, during the filming of ANH. 1997. She was 19/20 and Harrison was....older.

 

If I knew that one of my parents had an affair 40 years ago, it would still mess me up. Big time. Yet there's a difference between exposing dirty laundry when there are still children involved vs. adult children. Benjamin Ford is almost 50 yrs old. Willard Ford is not far behind.

 

Well, again, imo, it's on Harrison to have taken that into account back then. They were his kids, not hers. She was 19 yrs old and he was plenty mature at 11 [EDIT: 14 ] years older. I can see it as unsettling, but I'm sure Ben and Willard are well aware of it or mature enough to handle it at this point. It's not the first time their father has cheated in a marriage after all. Plus, a divorce did ensue shortly thereafter. The marriage had obviously failed before that and was on it's last legs. Being away from home for several months during that time, didn't do wonders for his marriage and, remember, it's not like he was a big time movie star at that point. He had a small part in American Graffiti and bit parts here and there, but he was busy building Peebo Bryson's deck right before filming in order to pay bills, if I'm remembering correctly.

40 years on I don't see this as a big deal. They've both been married and divorced several times since then and I doubt the affair had that big an impact on either of them in the long run.

 

It was long rumored and now it's confirmed. I don't see the big deal.
