Huh. I'll have to look for him.

My question would be how you can tell chopper from any other R-whatever. Maybe if his arms are out and waving around ala the original McQuarrie inspiration.

What are these prequel planets that are shown that people are hinting at?

Digital Tarkin but no digital Leia? That seems unfair.

oh good. Someone else speculated that there was only digital Tarkin. I didn't see any reason for digital Leia to be left out.

Yeah, actually hearing that we're not just seeing the back of Leia, but also her face briefly. Not sure how legit that is.

No Star Wars movie is complete without a few failed special effects.

its not that they are failed. They are cutting edge, and really impressive. The technology is evidently not quite there, they are just not perfect. Compared to the MCU de-aging tech, they look miles behind. (not sure if they used it for Leia, but doesnt look like it)

the definition of success in special effects isn't whether it's cutting edge, it's whether the trick sells. Sounds like it doesn't.

The guys on Jedi-Bibliothek stated that both Tarkin and Leia look better than young Michael Douglas or young RDJ from the MCU.

depends what you mean by selling it. If you mean does it fool people to think its human, then no, noone thinks its human. But if you realise that and still believe in the film then yes, you probably will. CG characters are in so many films, but normally noone has such a problem. I think when its a human CG character you become more critical. It was a bold move, and its pretty amazing.

And why not? Have you seen the actual movie? I haven't yet, but the guys on Jedi-Bibliothek are usually very trustworthy.

Import_Jedi, IMO the Vader scene is totally OTT. I loved it, but in the context of the film it felt so out of character. Vader rampages though the Rebels with his saber, force chokes, disarms, every trick in the book. He is an animal, where I would have expected Vader to be calm and measured, and just effortlessly throw them aside with the force. The saber is unnecessary and not true to the character. There is no subtlety whatsoever. Its an amazing spectacle and will have audiences cheering the roof off. I loved the scene. But in the context of the film, it sortof felt cheap, if that makes sense.

That's looking to be the general consensus. Sounds a little tacked on "for the fans" that starts veering too close to fan service.

Sounds good to me. More like the Vader on ROTS then with the Separatists? And it ties in with initial rumours.

Any truth to that rumour that the Rebels initially dismiss the threat of this 'magic using bogeyman'?

Its essentailly a redo of the opening scene of ANH. So we know how Vader would act in that situation. He allows his Troopers to take them out, then he calmly makes his entrance. This is like a bizarro world redo of that where he acts in an opposite way! Doesnt make sense.
