    Sup y'all,

I've never posted to this forum in my life, but i figured this was the best place to go for help. You see, Return of the Jedi is my favorite Star Wars movie, and there are things I like in the Blu-Ray version, and things I like in the original version. I keep hearing about Harmy's Despecialized Editions in Blu-Ray quality but with original cuts.

That's great but it got me thinking if there is anywhere in the vastness of the internet that I can find an edition of ROTJ that is perfect for my tastes. If anyone has any idea, I simply need to know where I could possibly find that. While there's no way I'm going to get everything I want, I'm going to list my preferences. Anything that comes close this is a great start:

-Remove "Jedi Rock" and put in original Jabba's Palace song

    -Retain Blu-Ray quality

-Remove blinking ewoks(not important at all though)

-Lightsaber Effects: For the love of God, anything but the 2004 version, it's awful!!! 1983 version would be my preference

-Restore Sebastian Shaw's eyebrows(again, not important)

-Keep Extended Victory Celebration song but restore Sebastian Shaw force ghost instead of Hayden Christiansen's version

I know this is a tall order and I most likely won't find what I'm looking for, I figured it was a shot in the dark worth taking since I love this movie so much. If anyone can help me out, I would really appreciate it!

Yep, this seems like what I'm looking for. Thanks!

How does this work though? Is there a page on his site where I download the movie or burn it on a disc or something? I've never tried this before.

Annoyingly that's true, but it's better than young Anakin in that scene where he looks like he can't even tell Obi-Wan and Yoda are standing right next to him. Seriously have you ever noticed that? Hayden Christensen looks like he's high as hell in that scene!

You would have to use a torrent site like MySpleen or Tehparadox, join and search for it. You would download it and burn it to a disc or copy it to a usb stick. You can plug the usb stick into your HD TV. If you have a Blu-ray player with a port, you can plug it in there. I downloaded Harmy's Despecialized from MySpleen and copied them to a usb stick. It works great! This stuff can be difficult if you don't know what you're doing. It took me quite a long time to figure it all out.

After all these years of that Despecialized stuff being out, why is that still the only way to get them? Does anyone just give them away, like at conventions? What's the difference in downloading them, since it isn't considered an illegal download somehow, and giving discs away?

Actually, I hate the Special Editions with a burning passion but I freaking love Jedi Rocks.

jk Jedi Rocks is an absolute blight and probably the best proof against the existence of a kind and loving god I can think of.

The original version of the Max Rebo band is nothing to write home about. Even on grainy VHS, you can clearly see the strings on the original Sny Snooties puppet. Just an awful puppet which Lucas himself said, just didn't work.

It is illegal, but it's a victimless crime, like punching somebody in the dark. The a Simpsons reference, in case you were wondering. Harmy encourages downloaders to buy the Blu-rays. In fact, he "mandates" downloaders to buy the Blu-rays before downloading Despecialized in hopes that it will keep Lucasfilm/20th Century Fox from taking legal action. If you own the DVDs, that's not good enough. You must own the Blu-rays. Of course, there is no way to ensure that those who download Despecialized Editions own the Blu-rays. He works on the honor system. So far, Lucasfilm/20th Century Fox haven't gone after them or any other fan editors, for that matter, and there are many of them out there.

Got me excited for a second there

I remain alone in my corner with the tiny sign for "Jedi Rocks fans" dangling, gathering dust

Victimless crime?! You're taking someone's work, altering it without the artist's consent and sharing it on the internet. Even ignoring the moral and ethical issues, it's not victimless, nor does that make it ok.

As a consumer, you're free to buy a copy of whatever the artist makes available and enjoy it in private, or not buy it at all. That's it.

GL already gave us his ultimate version, and maybe your ultimate version, but it's not my ultimate version.

I have mine and no one can take it from me. Not you, not GL, nobody. If you don't want to accept that, it's your choice, but I choose differently.

I assume you mean favorite, which yes, is personal. But an ultimate version of an artistic work is whatever the artist decides it to be. Not me, you or anybody else.

    Exactly.

And who knows if he will ever change it again?

As per the rumors of the 4K versions that were done at one time or what might have happened for the 3D versions that were going to happen at one time.

If he does great. If not fine.

I have to say that part of me would love HC's vocals when talking to Luke but on the other hand it's not like EM and AG while playing the same character have the same voice either.

I'm perfectly fine with that. I've spent quite a lot of money on Star Wars over the years. I own multiple versions of the trilogy, including the blu-rays.

Apparently, you missed the irony of my statement. It's a victimless crime, like punching somebody in the dark. Get it? However, was n a sense, it is a victimless crime in that the multibillionaires are still multibillionaires.

If 20th-Century Fox isn't going to give fans what they want, the fans are going to take matters into their own hands. I'm perfectly fine with fans who have poured their money into the franchise taking a little back while being diplomatic by encouraging fans to buy the blu-rays before downloading.

Just a warning that media piracy is a bannable offense here and defense of it is not allowed either. Everybody is fine right now but keep this is mind going forward.

I also think that the other discussions in this thread can take place in the OOT, SE or Blu-Ray threads that already exist.

    Locking.
