Everybody says the Vader scenes but don't forget...

• Cassian taking out his fellow rebel at the beginning. The ultimate middle finger to Lucas' "Greedo shot first"
• Almost every line from K2SO
• Baze Malbus firing a rocket at an AT-AT to no evail followed by an X-Wing taking the walker down.
• X-Wings trying to make it through the gate before the shield closes
• Star Destroyers crashing into each other
• Jynn and Cassian embracing at the end

 

I didn't see a thread for this, so apologies if there is one. What is your favorite scene in R1?

Personally, seeing Vader's castle was so satisfying. It's been rumored for, what?, 20 years? Finally we get to see it and it was incredible! The tuning fork design. The deep black color. So cool!

 

My first instinct is to say the hallway massacre, but on second thought, Vader's castle. It was one of those things seen in concept art for years, finally come to fruition on the big screen.

 

When Vader is slaughtering all the rebels but that one rebel hands off the data chip. Real show of bravery there.

 

I still sorry for the poor schmuck who got force choked, held against a ceiling and then got sliced in half. what a wicked way to go.

 

The new robot (K2-SO isn't it?). When Jyn shoots a imperial robot that looks just like him. He says, "Did you know that wasn't me"? She says, "Of course".

 

She did, and I found her answer vague and unconvincing.

 

I’m taking them to imprison them.... in prison.

 

Every scene K2SO was in.

Also, the final Vader scene was cool, I suppose.

 

I think K2 and Jyn have a love-hate relationship. In another scene, I guess when they were deciding to undertake the mission, K2 says something like "I'm with you" and then "Cassian says I have to".

Does anyone know when the movie will be on DVD?

That prologue scene is just full of great lines.

 

"Are we blind? Deploy the garrison! Moveeeee!"

 

Tarkin: "You have made time an ally of the Rebellion."

Saw: "You can stand to watch as Imperial flags reign across the galaxy?" (or something like that)
Jyn: "It's not a problem if you don't look up."

Krennic: "Who are you?"
Jyn: "You know who I am. I'm Jyn Erso. Daughter of Galen and Lyra Erso."

Cassian: "Make ten men feel like a hundred."

K-2SO: "There were lots of explosions for two people blending in."

Galen: "They call it the Death Star. There's no better name."

Chirrut: "You almost shot me."
Baze: "You're welcome."

Bodhi: "Then they shut the gate and we are all annihilated in the cold dark vacuum of space."
K-2SO: "Not me. I can survive in space."

Tarkin: "We need a statement, not a manifesto. The Holy City will suffice."

 

I love the way she says this. It's very heroic. She knows that she won.

 

She was bluffing a little bit there, as she still had to pull the transmit lever on the main console... and Krennic knew that.... so he said something like "I am tired of wasting my time with you" or something similar.

 

Huh, good point. I forgot that she hadn't actually transmitted the plans yet.

 

That's possibly the best part of the slaughter scene. I thought of "many Bothams died to give us this information ". The poor guy (if I remember correctly) is impaled just as he completed his words. He screams "Take it! Take it!"

That moment resonated on me the longest after getting home from seeing RO. I took it like his family will miss him dearly. Myself married now 23 years with two kids I can tend to get very emotional over these kind of things.

MarcJordan, this is why so many parents found the Kylo scene in TFA very disturbing.... our personal life experiences affect the way we interpret a movie.

A detail that I love was when the movie shows the proud faces of the officials on the Death Star while in parallel Galen is telling Jyn about the hidden flaw in the reactor.....

 

Absolutely.

Krennic is seen looking very proud too. Arms crossed.

Definitely the scene at the end, I loved when Darth just slashed down all those rebels. Not to sound to evil lol.
