Is it so much to ask for a swarm of littler ships (particularly Nebulon Bs) to kill an ISD (BY ACTUALLY FIRING THEIR GUNS ON SCREEN)

I can get with that....expose the weaknesses of the ISD...while part of your fleet is engaging head on or broadside....use other ships to attack from below and behind.

Quite a few early aircraft carriers were the result of that process.

Most of the Japanese and British aircraft carriers well into World War II were just battleships with the superstructure lopped off and a flight deck affixed to it.

Fair enough (I'll admit I'm not that familiar with historical naval warfare), but as you said those were early designs. The Empire is supposed to be on the cutting edge of technology while the rebels are the ones who cobble ships together experimentally.

They're also a corrupt bloated bureaucracy that would not hesitate one bit to cut corners on less important assets.

I would definitely be okay with the re-use of ship parts. However, in this case it's incredibly ugly and just looks off. I'm just going to go ahead and pretend that this ship is more or less one-of-a-kind and hope that we never see it again.

It's probably not absolutely one of a kind, given that it has its own class designation, but we fortunately probably won't be seeing it ever again except as a text mention. I don't really dislike it, but it's nowhere near worth including ever again, I'm just glad it got its functional design that we can now forget about.

I found the original image on Fanpop (patterning on the ship is slightly different) but finding a larger one is likely to be harder.
    Found one on Pinterest:

I exhaustively combed youtube (after Disney cracked down on Rogue One video uploads) to find a scene with definitive proof that the Profundity does indeed fire its weapons, and it's blink and you miss it. If you have a digital copy already, feel free to confirm for yourself to match this shot. We also see the Dorneans and a CR90 fire in this scene.

Have we figured out what the heck GR-75's do in all these fleet battles?

The original ILM studio model of GR75s actually has a lot of greebling on the upper clamshell superstructure that could possibly be armament (I'm quite certain some of the pieces used to kitbash it are naval turrets from model battleships) but I've never seen any confirmation on this outside of exaggerated mobile game promotional art. In the ROTJ novelization, some unidentified ships which are implied to be GR75s are used as bomb ketches that toss out those little explosive mines at Imperials, sort of like what Iron Squadron did, and sometimes they're used as kamikazes or drones. But Pablo Hidalgo has said that novelizations aren't always accurate.

It actually fires on two other equations. Once early in the battle from starboard guns against the shield, and in the middle of the battle it fires from it smaller turrets.

Not severe enough...I say just do them like they did Joe Pesci at the end of Casino.

What is that below and to the right of the Dornean Gunship??

I am loving april fools. Never knew GR75's were in the Cinderella novelization. Need to check that out then.

For clarification, "Cinderella" is the apparent wordfilter for the one made in 1983.

At least "Disney cracked down on Frozen videos" still kind of makes sense.

I've been thinking about this, and while I don't want it, I'd kind of be okay with it. The nucanon Dornean gunship model looks great, as the images above go to show.

Thank you so much! The first two links work great for me, I'll add them to my files. :)

You are correct, the Profundity does fire her broadside turbolasers at the shield gate.
