What about a Assassin's Creed like organisation that have decided that the ends (justice and the deterrence of crime) justify the means (terror tactics and vigilant killings of the perceived guilty); they use the Force for enhanced acrobatic stunts (like the Leap of Faith), stealth and sometime gets precognitions. When on of them get a vision they fully believe it will come true unless they change it and that if somebody has been shown as guilty in their vision the are as good as guilty.

Inspired by: Assassin's Creed; Minority Report and WH40k's Night Lords

I don't think the movies or the EU were really great at showing the Jedi as a religion, and while the Sith were treated a little better, it still wasn't that well established. I like things like The Church of the Force and the Guardians of the Whills, the idea that over centuries various holy orders and even religions have sprung up, or that in the Clone Wars era that schisms caused things like the Altisian Jedi to break away.

I don't want other groups, light or dark side, that just exist to either be high concept or have special powers only. It'd be nice to see them as newer and historic splinter groups from the Jedi and Sith as well as religions, cults, and belief systems that sprung up independent of the Jedi. Groups that don't have Dark Side opposites or Light Side opposites, but their cultural window the the Force made them latch onto what we thing of as the Light or Dark side, and also just individuals who scour musty old books and tombs to collect empowered artifacts that hold powers of light or dark side within.

I'd like to see some real diversity, including groups that just don't think of the Force in binary terms, and maybe it's that rigidity that causes Jedi to fall and Sith to crumble in corruption.

Stuff like the Church of the Force or Guardians remind me of groups like Andeddu and his cult followers and people like Hetton. I hope we show more Sith cults cause groups like the Knight of Ren and Acolytes of the Beyond are very reminiscent of the eu sith followers. Funny that in the eu people seemed to follow the Sith more than they did Jedi. The Jedi only really had a few groups like that. Antarian Rangers being the big one. I so want them to be back.

WotC's SW: RPG hade some alternative Force using classes that where different from the Jedi, at least in the presentation. Maybe we could see something based on those ideas?
Since I have them available I will quote the presentations of those classes so peopel know what I am talking about:

B.t.w. am I alone find that the way the class is described show some cultural bias from the writer? To me it fells that sentences like “In primitive cultures where the accepted belief systems includes ancestor worship,[…]” combined with that spirit adepts lack many skills and abilities that focus on technology is saying that ancestor/spirit worship is something that don’t happen among more “advanced” Cultures.

Personally I dislike that more-or-less all of the suggestions how to play an urban adept are of the physical kind; why no suggestions to be a diplomat, technician, doctor, trader or a cleric – all jobs were Force training can give you an edge and don’t (usually) involve voilence? Actually when I think about it: why do they not suggest any religious profession for the urban adept since they did give them for the Force adept and spirit adept? Are they suggesting that civilized worlds have “outgrown such silly superstitions” or is there another reason? Do anybody know?

Personally I can easily see a dark side beastwarden be something similar to Kraven the Hunter or Vermin from Marvel Comics, or function like an evil Tarzan

B.t.w. am I alone in finding it a bit strange that the description is so technological hostile and isolationistic without any suggested alternative? In a galaxy as diverse as SW:s there should be ‘wardens living in urban areas or having an traditional role in a community, among mounted nomads they could actually easy be some kind of shaman-chieftain.
Classic Emma Frost would definitively be a dark side telepath if she existed in SW ;)

I hope the Knights of Ren illustrate the idea you don't have to remake the Sith and it's a big galaxy, even if the result is, "Basically the Sith."

The Dreadknights of Kolthas may be a bunch of armored psychopathic force users but it makes the universe larger even if they're all just a bunch of Vader clones.

Ditto the Witches of Dantho...oh right.

Does anyone have more thoughts on my ideas?
(I also liked the idea of Set Harth on the 3rd page... and don't like Sith-in-all-but name... or those too magicky for Star Wars)

Regarding 1: how do you image the Sorcerers’, well, sorcery to look/feel like? Since you don’t seem to like “magic” in SW

2: can you expand on this?

3: how would that work and what would be the stuff the “Wyyrlok’s Witnesses”missionaries take up as good reasons to join their faith?

I can easily see 4 and 5 to be stories about a how a person is able to justify committing evil deeds in the name of good.

6 sounds like something you should post in the Plot Bonny thread in Fanfic

I think it'd be cool to see a group like the Seyugi Dervish regain some prominence. That was a really cool group, imo.

    1. Sorcerers of Rhand would probably be similar to the Sith, maybe with slightly different powers due to their different focus. They're "sorcerers" as much as the Jedi are also described to be sorcerers. It's their ideology I'm interested in more.

    2. On "another could be Darksiders who don't want to dominate existing life... but just rule over as God-Emperor over life that they create"... remember how the ancient Sith Lords would create monsters? Perhaps the heroes discover a system or small sector controlled by a Dark-sider who's their God-King. At first they think he/she enslaved and brainwashed them... but then it's discovered the God-King actually created these sentient lifeforms out of his own imagination and dark-side alchemy. And if the Jedi/Republic/heroes wanted to overthrow this ruler, they'd have some moral/philosophical problems, since this God-King is literally their creator and created them to serve him/her.

    3. Well in Legacy, it sounded like Wyyrlok would force many to convert under fear of force and other threats, for those who initially resist the more seductive persuaders. But it would mean everyone is brainwashed into knowing and following the Sith Code or something similar, even those non-Force-sensitive civilians.

    Yes on #4 and #5

Where was the Jedi described as sorcerers?

Personally I was more under the impression that the Sorcerers of Rhand’s style was more 80's Sword & Sorcery movie crossed with Clive Barker.

Aha, I see. That would be interesting.

    Okey

That's how the Imperials understood them, when at the Death Star conference in ANH, they describe Vader as the last of the Jedi and how his sorcery doesn't scare them (then Vader chokes him).

As for the Wyyrlok idea, it definitely could include missionaries of the dark-side variety, but since they are dark-side they would probably be more seductive like Sidious, or outright brutish and threatening.

I will keep harping on this....

Sheev casting him out, telling him he is no longer his apprentice should have been a Schism of the Sith Order with Maul going underground and taking an apprentice to train....maybe an Inquisitor sent to kill him who he offers more power to. Possibly not have killed off Buffy The Seventh Sister and make her the apprentice.

What was cool about them? Not disagreeing here, it is just that I remember them as rather underdeveloped witout anything to make them stand out beside their name and speed focus.

Well, I don't know much about the EU, so when I came across their Wookieepedia article, they seemed unique in their use of the Force as well as their cohesivness, so I found them to be rather cool.:)

What about Set Harth types? Darksiders who aren't interested in philosophy or a religious or semi-religious doctrine or goal but just want to party, live forever, and acquire rare and valuable stuff. And don't care who they hurt or murder in the way using dark side abilities to get whatever they want?

Well Maul had already created a Sith splinter group with Savage even before being 'cast out' verbally by his former master who betrayed him back on Naboo. Its not exactly clear on Rebels the intention, since Maul self title himself "Maul, formerly Darth" when he corrected the 7th Sister- and they never allowed him to have made consistent effort in training Ezra, this is either via shabby writing of the production or some other story reason or both. In any case, he did seem otherwise seem intent on creating a new order, and the combination of light and dark being teased, the merging of the Jedi and Sith holocrons and dialogue clearly with the purpose of toppling the Sith and usurping the Emperor was still very much at play with the character.

Eternal Rur and Garro are two strange Dark Siders or whatever they were. RO has also some cult of oblivion led by Nesta Term the self proclaimed Central Isopoter. Nesta worships death itself and her obsession with oblivion led her to dangerous places, whatever that meant.

The Screaming Citadel seems to be introducing some cenobite/Witch/Sith-like villains possibly, they also are reminiscent of Sith Lords from the cancelled Darth Maul game and the some throwback to the Sorcerers of Rand, the Knight armored looking character reminds me of the KOR Sith/Eternal warrior or even the Dark Horse tales era Red-armored Sith Lord.

Was it not the Mystic Agent prestige class that were space ninjas?:

"Mystic Agent The mystic agent is strong in the Force and masters the arts of stealth and subterfuge. She’s the one a crime lord turns to when he wants to steal an artifact from the vaults of the Jedi Temple on Coruscant. She’s the one hired to retrieve a Republic senator’s kidnapped daughter from a pirate fortress. Selling her expertise as a stealthy spy, swift courier, and silent assassin, the mystic agent is the consummate master of espionage. She handles missions involving infiltration, extraction, seduction, obfuscation, and assassination.
A mystic agent typically works alone, although she relies on a web of contacts to get her into and out of dangerous locations. She serves a variety of clients, from galactic corporations and planetary governors to wealthy art dealers and crime syndicates, all the while keeping her true alliances veiled. Some mystic agents are interested only in credits, while others find a cause worthy of their loyalty. Even then, some organizations and individuals hesitate to call on the services of a mystic agent for fear of being double-crossed.
A mystic agent will sometimes ally herself with small but powerful groups of adventures who can provide her with safe transportation, firepower, and other resources needed to complete whatever assignment her has agreed or sworn to undertake."

Am a bit disappointed that the Screaming Citadel people looks just like pale/white-skinned humans, it would have been nice if they looked like some other species.
