Solo Solo: A Star Wars Story Trailer #2

Yeah Han's backstory in the old EU was that he was an Imperial cadet until he rescued Chewie from slavery.

 

Impressive! That shot of the Star Destroyer in the swirling cloud/nebula looks cool AF. The interior of the Falcon looks amazing.

I was always going to give it a shot despite a complete lack of interest in a Solo backstory movie, but now I'm actually looking forward to it!

 

Certainly wasn't what I was expecting. Then again I don't know what to expect given this is the first of pretty much anything we've seen. Of course there will be more to talk about and think about tomorrow but again like Rogue One it definitely has a more darker look visually and that makes it stand out from the Trilogy films I suppose. Maybe that's going to be a recurring thing throughout these Spin off films?

Alden doesn't seem to be doing a Harrison impression but maybe there'll be more in the performance that makes it seem similar to what we know Han will be later on similar to how other young versions of characters have been in the past like Ewan as Obi-Wan. This is his early days after all so it makes sense he doesn't quite have the Han type of personality and speaking yet. Even the fact Han is willing to join a cause obviously it ends up being the wrong one is meant to show how different he is compared to the cynic in A New Hope who is made realise there's a cause worth fighting for again.

Interested in seeing the Empire's role beyond being involved in Han's past, Glover looks like he fits for Lando and I like some of the designs like that person with the staff. Again we'll have to wait for a full trailer to get a big picture but given we had heard nothing before and what they showed doesn't look to bad I'm actually interested now. Not that I was being cynical about it like other people were but you hear nothing but troubling reports for awhile and see nothing virtually of the product and it's coming much earlier than other films have been it's understandable why some people were nervous and cynical. Hopefully now we can finally put those thoughts behind us and actually look forward to the film. Was a Han Solo origin story something I was really looking forward to and something I wanted right away? Not entirely but so long as you make a fun film out of it and bring some interesting stuff along the way and bring an interesting visual style and memorable performances then I'd probably be on board with it. Then again I am pretty forgiving on stuff but I'm hoping it turns out good and again things could change in the coming months or even tomorrow but so far not bad.

Thats always been the story, and rescuing someone from a life of slavery is a life debt type of situation. Han may have even refused at first but who argues with a wookie?

Oh how I’m gonna tag and call out everyone who said they wouldn’t show a trailer during the super bowl lol.

ok, watched this trailer 'need a pilot' They already steal from the new movies? As expected very depressive in tone like previous movies. Seals the deal for me for any upcoming Disney SW movies. Nothing to see for me here.

 

Tone seems really off for what should be a fun swashbuckler. Looks straight out of Rogue One.

And speaking of Rogue One, this trailer tells us they're giving us no indication this is set years before it. Everything is identical, troopers and all. Oh well.

 

If you pause the teaser rigth when the dancing woman appears, you can see two Twi'leks! I'm really glad we're going to see some classic background aliens.

 

everyone should be a little nervous and yet not get their hope up or to hyped.This movie will win or fail as it's own self not as any thing else.I think it will be good like R1.

 

Okay, I'm officially hyped for this movie now.

That......that wasn't even said in the trailer.

 

Ahhh... thank you both. Not familiar with the EU at all, so that was new to me.

 

The Daley books said that Han was a hotshot, highly gifted military pilot, but was betrayed by his C.O. and court-martialed, with only Chewie standing up for him. It's broadly hinted at, but not stated explicitly, that Han was busted for freeing Chewie. The Crispin books go into far more detail.

 

Looks pretty awesome!!

 

funny, I heard 'need a pilot'. Because it was said in the same way/tone like the line from Poe to Finn.

 

Same as with Rogue One, I’m getting a really delicious ‘90s OT-era EU vibe from this, which I love. That train reminds me of the Ord Mantell level from Shadows of the Empire. Can’t wait to see the full thing tomorrow.

 

Film looks very interesting.. Love the shiny Falcon.

 

I'll wait and see how it turns out, but I was also hoping they wouldn't go the origin story route, but rather just be a fast-paced adventure set pre-OT, with Han and Chewie already established, like the Brian Daley books. Well, maybe "Solo 2" can do that.

they better have slave chewbacca, Disney better not get all kiddie with this.

I did like that knight dude. I'll buy that toy.

 

Even based on 30 seconds it seems distinct with it’s own look & feel. Liking it so far!

 

Just wow.
Can't wait for tomorrow.
