Double post - why do I keep writin' when the board's laggin'?

The board was really lagging and I had reported it to Grahame at the time it happened.

 

I think a grammar thread would be a cool thing to have. I think I can forgive occasional spelling mistakes for similar looking words but punctuation....well, proper punctuation is like this important thing to know how to do right or you could be giving the reader the wrong idea.

 

Another classic example - Panda: eats, shoots, and leaves.

 

"Let's eat grandma!" vs. "Let's eat, grandma!"

 

My main act of conscious decision making, every, single, time, is the whole its / it's / its' situation.

I trust that I'm getting it right, but don't think that it is automatic.

 

I find that to be the easiest thing ever.

Combining tenses, however...

I've had an idea for a really angsty plot rolling around in my head for like months now, I've had a rough past few days and have been looking forward to finally getting it out on paper, but now that I can, I HAVE NO IDEA WHERE/WHEN/HOW to start and all my ideas are slowly draining away. I've written like 4 different starts and scrapped them all. I know better than to force a story that just isn't happening and that the muse just isn't having, but it is still so frustrating and peeving me because I want to write this story and it was like fully formed in my head this morning!!

 

You start sketching out a wee vignette about a couple of characters and it turns into a sprawling three part story featuring Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan because why not?

 

This needs to happen, together with a list of people who allow (private) heads-up on accidental typos. Sith happens!

My own: forgetting words, grammar and many others which have already been mentioned. Not forgetting, create a character (including 10 sketch concepts) and decide, no I do not want to work with him right now.

 

The story being awesome and well-written, just like the other one you read from the same author before, but the author ignored two nice people, enthusiasts for specific type of stories who left him thoughtful, careful replies. Yes, this is why nobody has reviewed you since August. Not cool.

...all of the 3-4 day compulsive updaters currently get my goat. Like, us slowpokes like your stories, too. But you are not giving us the time to catch up AT ALL. And then we're destined to binge-read. The folks who don't give anybody a chance to reply and think nobody will, then they post 10-20 K words are the icing on the cake. Like, really? REALLY?

 

^ this. Also posting an entire epic story at once.

 

I read one such. It was great, but the total of us who read it was, I think, two. Then the person went ahead and posted two more of those.

Well, considering we had never seen the writer before, she could hardly hope for a vastly different outcome if she had posted piecemeal.

Though scrolling through her epics was definitely a pain.

 

Doh, I know I'm guilty of doing this. But I have thought that I should update less frequently, and I think your post here just helps confirm that I should.

Its and It's drives me crazy. Not in people's fics, but in my own because it's easy to miss. It's its own nightmare, and have to check every time and I mess it up frequently!

 

Oh, yeah and double posts...oops.

 

If material already exists offline, there is something pleasurable and more real, seeing it posted, so sometimes holding out for a week between updates is hard.

And if we think nobody is coming, may as well operate to our own schedules.

Just don't try to reationalise it each time and spoil the fun.

Also, it was a he! BoyZ do that, too. We're all irrational, at the end of the day.

And he's an incredibly good writer, too.

Yay, now I can re-read the comic, since it's been about two years, and then treat myself because the amount of people who write new canon holes in time is, like, one digit.

Now, if the other 7579624913469 people would read that and do the same...
