if ejc (or anyone, really), is interested in this idea of the way we nostalgia-ize and idealize (for one reason or another) past periods we didn't actually experience, i highly recommend the movie "Midnight in Paris" (starring Owen Wilson)...it's a charming romantic comedy that is all about that feeling of nostalgia ppl often have for some past "golden age" (and what might happen if we actually could experience the past age...in the film, owen's character gets to magically go back in time to paris of the 1920s...)

 

Yep, they're usually on the wealthier side. I'm thinking like older upper middle class women with Birds of Northumbria Vols. I-XVII in their living room bookcase and the only reason they have it is because it's about birds so it matches their paintings of birds and it's turquoise so it matches their couch. Oh, and it's a book from Europe, and rich Americans love European tchotchkes.

I quite enjoyed that film. Definitely due for a rewatch. For reasons of nostalgia.

 

Luckily, I do not know anyone like that irl.

Oh, several. Finally own both gremlin films on blu-ray, got smash ultimate and some other stuff. Its been a very relaxing birthday so far, which is how i like it.

 

Thank you heels, i also love the gif, its always nice to see battledroid hit their targets (especially a commander battledroid), i really need to have a another SW marathon as soon as possible.

How is this game?

 

Thank goodness, I thought it was just me who had nostalgia for things I never experienced. I had nostalgia for the original Animal Crossing this first time I played it. The game just breaths nostalgia.

Also, happy birthday @CIS Droid!

 

I read that as, “did you get many GIFS” lol. And imo re: the 20s club, T-Swift sums it up best in 22: “we’re happy, free, confused & lonely at the same time, it’s miserable & magical.”
