ST Rey & Kylo Ren in Episode IX

Well, we saw Anakin fall to darkness and then return to the light.

We never saw Ben fall to darkness. Does that mean he’s reverse Anakin in that we see him return to the light, only to fall again?

 

I mean, it's almost like there is little to no substance behind a Ben Solo/Anakin Skywalker comparison beyond mere cosmetic similarities or something.

 

Anakin got six films for the top develop, we only have 3 with Ben

If Luke gets resurrected, we're going to be reaching even higher levels of "missing the point" in this trilogy creatively. Just entering an entirely new realm of "not understanding the entire saga up to this point".

 

Kylo being reverse Anakin makes zero sense because the PT was just the story of reverse Vader. In other words, Vader in the OT is already reverse Anakin.

 

So maybe his journey is not aa much of a focus as Anakin's was.

 

Can Kylo just have his own story and not be the reverse of anyone? Just become a Sith and die. Or just die. I don't want to see crybaby Kylo anymore. Let him be a full on ruthless villain until his last breath.

 

Funny how Sam looks like a dead ringer for a young Han Solo here and Kira has a remarkably similar facial structure. Like one would expect from siblings?

Rey had a last name when she was Kira! McCaig. I think they should have stuck with that version. A mixed race female lead would have been cool, too. But Daisy has done a great job. She could have been a good Kira McCaig.

 

Maybe? The movie did make it pretty clear that Rey had been lying to herself for sometime that her folks were coming back.

 

Lying to herself that they’d find her on Jakku.

As for the dream that they’d come back *to Rey*....

As Maz said - whomever Rey was waiting for on Jakku were never coming back to her.

But there is someone who still could.

I both wanted and expected Rey Solo pre-TFA, and if those points had been more solidly baked into that story, I'd still be all for it. But I just can't see it working as an 11th hour reveal. I mean, it's a way better option than her being Luke's kid, after seeing how TLJ played out. But still.

That was referring to Luke; Rey's parents might've been gone for good, but she could bring Luck back from his exile. Maz wasn't making a point that other people were looking for her, but that she could either choose to cling to the past or embrace a better future for herself (heck, during the whole sequence that leads up to this, Rey rejects offers from Han, Finn, and Maz for a better future to go back to Jakku and the dead end that's waiting for her there).

 

Weird I have such a different take on this picture than you. Kira Orphan in this shot clearly just friendzoned Sam with her lightsaber. That "come hither" look she's giving is to a shirtless Jedi Killer/Ben Solo just outside the shot. She looks like a child of Han and Leia, but that's just because LF always knew that a dark side/light side couple should look related for maximum sexual chemistry. But not with Sam though. He was always simultaneously unrelated to anyone and friendzoned, even when he looked like a young Han Solo. That was just an homage, since Jedi Killer clearly wasn't an homage to Han. He was always just the heir.

All of that was always the plan. From day one. Facts.

 

Yes, Sam is described as a Han Solo type... Was Kira ever described in relation to the OT3 Ever? Where does it say they are siblings.

I love Daisy, she has done a great job. However, Jessica H or Maise both would have been good. I especially like Jessica H.

Where does it say that Sam & Kira are siblings? Sam would have gotten friendzoned eventually... just because someone is written as a white brunette does not mean they are related to Solo/Skywalker.. See Jyn & Qira

I think that concept art of Kira & Sam look A LOT like Qira & Solo.... just sayin...

 

McCaig is the last name of the artist who drew the art concepts for Kira/Rey. I doubt they would have kept this name for the character; it doesn't sound very Star Wars.

Am I the only one who thinks that Kira and Sam look like each other in this drawing? Frankly, if Sam was originally supposed to be Kira's sibling, it wouldn't have surprised me. But yeah, Sam also looks like Han Solo v.2 very much. Kasdan co-wrote TFA and wrote Solo, so it's fair to assume that since the Sam character didn't make it, he'd cast someone who looked like him for Solo.

Stumbled upon this remark made by Carrie Fisher. I had never seen it before and it just made me laugh. Aww dear Carrie where are you?



In another interview she also told Daisy that she was looking forward to her space kiss... She would be probably disappointed today I'm sure we would have just LOVED the comments she would have made about Rey and Kylo in TLJ..
