John vs. Paul was always a thing. Personally I think that they were both geniuses, and John's bitter and Paul's sweet made The Beatles a perfect songwriting match. There is the theory that they needed each other; that solo they wandered too far into their own tendencies without the other to keep them in check.

Same. I just wish he hadn't been so trusting of people who were using him for their causes.
It caused him a lot of grief and put him on a lot of "lists."
    And not the good kind.

It sucks that Some Time In New York City isn't on YouTube, wanted to post a couple songs for you.
Anyhow, here's a rare live version of one that ended up on that album.
He wrote it in defense of a man who was given 10 years in prison for possession of two marijuana cigarretes.

Great song, it’s tragic he didn’t live longer to write more songs.

Hello all! Been beaten down by DRL the past couple days. He must have gone for a soda. I have a chance to breathe.

@I Are The Internets, that's a good question about the stickied-ness of this thread. I don't think I'd ever noticed.

@Nehru_Amidala, we don't play Pokemon Go, but I plan to play Minecraft Earth when it's released.

We Can Work it Out is a perfect example. (watch the video where John is making faces behind Paul trying to make him laugh) Or a Day In the Life. Or Getting better, with Paul singing "I have to admit it's getting better" with John singing "it can't get no worse." Just perfect ying and yang.

Which makes no sense as he wrote all types of songs. Plus all three of those are beautiful.
Yes, agreed. He did try while he had the chance. He wrote this one to support the Irish people, most likely earning him a place on the "bad list" amongst many of his English countrymen.
Wish the original was online, but this is an acoustic version.

Okay I'm gonna get this out of the way. I am a child of the 80's and LOVE the original Karate Kid. But this movie, as well as the Star Trek reboot, was one of the biggest surprises of my moviegoing life. I absolutely loved it, and thought Jackie Chan was amazing.

And John wrote the bridge on We Can Work It Out. Similar to the collaboration on Getting Better.
It does oversimply things to say one was light and the other dark though.
As Paul wrote many a darker tune like Eleanor Rigby and For No One, while John wrote many happier songs, especially in the early days, like I'm Happy Just To Dance With You and When I Get Home.
Plus All You Need Is Love. And the song Love itself is one of the prettiest tunes ever.

I agree Dags. John could be quite melodic( Girl) and Paul dark (For No One). But together they were perfect. Love the sweet romance in KK as well as the bullying plot. Will Smith's son was quite good in this. Although Macchio is the GOAT.
