It's done by channeling your anger and Rey is very angry at that point. Also the dyad makes her stronger.

Like Luke, but even more stupid. She sends a message to Kylo via the Force, except for unknown reasons it kills her. In the movie there's a line something like "it will take every last bit of effort she's got". Literally all she does is send a message though and it insta-kills her.

Why did that kill her when it never affected much older and less powerful Jedi? Meanwhile, Palpatine literally shoots down an entire fleet of thousands of ships with force lightning and doesn't bat a ****ing eyelid even though he SAYS that he's too weak to even walk.

Who the hell knows. Ask Rian Johnson, he set the tone for these "using the force just kills you" deaths.

Honestly if JJ announced these films were only canon to IV-VI, I wouldn't not believe him.

 

Just the voices. No characters, no planets, no music from the PT are in the movie.

 

This is so creepy... And TROS tries to pander to them. Laughably it even fails to do that, because Benny uwu died.

 

I think force concepts that have to be dropped by LF are death-by-force and light side resurrection. These are so bad they shouldn't be retconned or explained. They should be forever ignored. Like the Holdo Maneuver should have been.

There aren't even any references in dialogue besides the voices cameo. It's bizarre. It proceeds like the PT never even happened. Anakin's name is never even said.

 

Nothing pisses me off more that apparently the movies don’t connect with the PT because “JJ doesn’t like the PT.”

Oh, okay, well since JJ doesn’t like the PT, obviously the movies shouldn’t reference them.

How freaking narcissistic can you get?

 

We have a few PT Jedi voices that call to Rey, a B1 battle droid in the background, a Ep.3 line from Palpatine, and that's it...

So midi-chlorians are bad because they reduce the Force to genetics....but genetically inheriting specific Force powers is totally cool and not lore-breaking?

 

JJ Abrams is a PT neutralist/disliker. This movie only confirmed it. Anything remotely PT related was by Disney's decision. JJ didn't want a cohesive saga influence. Why they hired a man to end the saga when he never cared about I-III is a baffling decision, but Disney is not very good with judgment as their previous director tracklist shows.

 

What I feel most is a profound sense of loss. I don't know exactly how to explain. I had read all the leaks and was honestly feeling decent about the film while watching it, I told myself I was going to enjoy this one on its own terms, and that I had long sense let go of my anger towards what I believed the ST should or could have been.

Perhaps it is merely the "Star Wars is Over" feeling that I am experiencing, but I feel very sad in a way I cannot quite place.

 

I'm just indifferent at this point
