ST I Have A Bad Feeling About This - The "Haters" Sanctuary

So basically what he's really saying is: Rian Johnson was once a filmmaker, but he is a complicated 'hero' and not just a videogame character with a power-up. Now...he's in twitter exile. Or something.

See? Works just like that. Luke couldn't possibly be a Jedi for ever. That's too simple and unrealistic.

 

It hasn't been described because no logistics or explanation is given. That sums up most of TROS.

 

The amount of riotous crowd moments the ST writers have passed up on is epic.

Imagine:

1) if Luke had shown up to save Rey and Finn in TFA?
2) if Kylo had revealed to Rey that they were related in TLJ?
3) if Rey had chosen to love Finn instead of Kylo in TROS?

 

I doubt infrastructure concerns would stop them but in any case:

Well, that's something I suppose - and yeah, I doubt the net is up to 4k streaming - but I'm lacking the interest. Between Lucas' final "edits" and the insult that the ST films are there's not much left.

All three characters deserved better than to be flushed away. I have to think that this will have ramifications for Disney, that they cannot do a trilogy that is so damn cynical without consequences.

 

I think it’s well established that bottomless pits are the safest places in the Star Wars universe.

 

As I was told an hour ago, I just need to "turn my brain off and throw out all logic" to enjoy SW. That was an attempt to get me to go. To make me realize I was being too hard on SW. That's where we are at now with GA defenders. Just enjoy the pew pew pew and light show Mr. Thinks-too-much.

That is exactly what Disney wants and only way to make it passable. Ignore all lore, history, and OT/PT context. Just take what Disney is offering at face value.

I think the unfortunate truth is that it does work pretty well at being "CGI Blockbuster #7", so it will find some success. And I can't really begrudge it that, if that's what the general audience wants. But Star Wars used to be something greater. Something special. I touch on that in my postmortem (which I will add to my signature).

So I just learned that the TROS visual dictionary doesn't have an entry on Palpatine. Did the poor saps responsible for writing this thing just give up because there was nothing they could come up with that would make sense of his character in this film?

 

Gotta wonder if originally he was Matt Smith. And all the pre-viz and production photos for the books were of Matt Smith. But once they went w Real Palpatine late in the game, hey obviously couldn't show Matt Smith.

 

They suddenly delayed the Art of Book to next year? Is it going to be the same one?

 

But such movies usually find even greater success at the international box office. So even domestic losses are more than made up for by international growth. And even then it's a limited shelf life as Bayformers showed.

I guess TV will now be the place where some content creators sneakily tried to smuggle in actual SW while the movies, well, I don't even know what. I still do believe they will make at least one last attempt at China. Maybe with a Feige movie, give him KOTOR for God's sakes.
