ST Keri Russell (Zorri Bliss) in Episode IX

It was a very short role but I think Russell did a great job selling the character with just her physicality and voice (and sometimes her eyes). Her interactions with Poe felt genuine and made me want to know more about her. Hope she gets something to do in the future on Disney+ because Keri Russell is such a huge get and would love to see more of her.

 

Yep, small role, but loved what she did with it. Really fun stuff.

 

Funny how she changed her mind about Rey after seeing the lightsaber. ‘Not that you care but I think you are ok’ she says to Rey. This is in a film that walks Luke’s past footsteps.

 

Easiest paycheck ever. Show up for one day to show your eyes, and record a few sentences, then let someone else actually be most of the Pink Power Ranger scenes.

 

Jannah says Babu Frik sent a message according to which Rey was the 'last hope'. That's TESB Obi-Wan.

Sounds more like Zorii. Poe and her talk about the battle of Crait.
Both Frik and Bliss appear together in Exegol.

What if Terex (From the Poe comics) is Zorii’s father?
Hear me out! We know nothing of Zorii’s father. We do know that Zorii was born 1-4 years before Poe was, during the Empire. We don’t know how long Terex was a stormtrooper (and even if he was a stormtrooper when he slept with Zeva, stormtroopers need love, too!). He and Zeva could have had a one-night stand.
Zeva decided to raise the child (Zorii) all on her own and never told Terex or Zorii until years later when she left Zorii a holomessage telling her that Terex is her father.
Imagine Zorii’s surprise when she finds out her father is yet another one of Poe’s sworn enemies. XD

I love Keri Russel but my goodness she was of no consequence in this film at all. Nothing. She was a possible [removed] for Poe at the very end but he got shot down. Poor guy. . People here are reaching rather far to try and sell her off as a character that mattered. To each their own but I didnt see it at all.

cool helmet and liked her story with Poe

 

Intrigued by her character and would enjoy seeing more about her. Thought the performance was subtle ... almost entirely through her voice with a flash or two of her eyes. Pretty amazing if you think about it.

 

Another character, like Phasma, that I liked visually and as a concept, but just wasn't used well. Not nearly as bad as Phasma, but still seriously flawed, imo.

I suppose it's worthwhile to get this background for Poe, even though I don't like him. There's an intriguing, oppressed, fringe outlaw atmosphere to Kijimi that's really cool, except it feels like another side quest I don't want. Again, I shouldn't complain about cool things, they're so lacking in the ST. But I'm going to anyway. I hate that Poe is given a past as a spice smuggler, it's so unoriginal, and makes him even more of a lame, wannabe Han knock off. He'd be cooler if he had his own thing, but JJ doesn't understand that. We know JJ thinks just copying things is cool.

I also cringed at the "I think you're okay" line. Responding positively to a character kicking your ass is a really lame movie cliche. And then I just didn't buy, at all, that she would give Poe her medallion. It wasn't earned, it was basically out of nowhere and for no reason, but then the ST doesn't care about that. I can guess the reason, but it's paper thin, and it would not have been hard at all to do something to earn it.

Oh, and because Kijimi is cool (even if only temporarily due to the circumstances in the movie) and something new added to the lore, JJ of course decided to completely destroy it.

 

Yeah instead of the whole Sith Wayfinder bonkers fetch quest, the movie could have held to the three act structure more closely whereby the story opens on Outlaw-Smugglers World (a left over concept from TFA), run my Zorri, and who Poe knows from his past. They're trying to recruit smugglers and pirates to the cause, cuz they need fighters and ships...or something.

 

I'd prefer that over...whatever the hell that was.

 

They write her as this mysterious and cool character who has a heart deep down, but then they make her abusive in Poe Dameron: Free Fall. I understand it was to not make Poe look bad and to justify him leaving, but, that ruins any appeal of Damebliss (Poe/Zorii) at least for me. I mean, people don't ship Marly/Ryder from Glee anymore because their actors were abusive towards each other! So if people don't ship two characters together because their ACTORS, not the characters themselves were abusive to each other, why would they ship a couple because one was abusive towards the other?

If they wanted Damebliss and for people to want to ship them, they should have just made Zorii similar to Alex Vause from Orange Is The New Black (f'd up, but nice enough for people to like her)- maybe even had Poe leave Zorii after Zorii's mom died (at the hands of one of her enemies seeking revenge or something). Sure, it's still f'd up on Poe's part, but it would at least be better than making Zorii abusive.

I'm guessing you missed the part where I said "in POE DAMERON: FREE FALL", which is a YA novel about Poe's time in the Spice Runners of Kijimi. That's when Zorii was abusive towards him.

 

Yes, I missed it. Being unfamiliar with the novel, and as the title was not in italics and not described as a book, I quickly read it as perhaps referring to a section of the script or something. Should’ve googled it first. Apologies for any inconvenience it caused. Not much cause for snark, I don’t think, or the use of all caps. Just “As mentioned, it’s from the canon book Poe Dameron: Free Fall” would’ve been fine.

 

I agree I would have loved to see more of her in some series about spice runners or something. I'd actually be interested more to see a series about her than even Cassian Andor (although I thought that series was great).

I also agree with something else that has been mentioned here: that her character was completely inconsequential to TROS. They could've left her out and the story wouldn't have missed a beat. But really what her being there did was leave me wanting to see more of her (which honestly happened a lot for me in the ST).

That was something that I also was hoping would happen-that the Resistance would ultimately-with the aid of Lando, given his time as part their world-band together with groups of smugglers/pirates and other shady types to defeat the Sith fleet. Zorii could've fit well into this...

Great line, basically sums up the whole message of Rise of Skywalker.
