Regarding the resurrection of Darth Maul, it has always been my understanding that Katie Lucas was the one to suggest it to her father. Am I wrong? If not, George Lucas would have given his stamp of approval to the idea.

This scene is just pure gold and has so many meanings that can relate to all the saga movies from the PT to the ST. A part of me is sad he never could get away from Palpatine and his evil. Maul would make a great prophet.

I think what is ironic throughout this whole episode is that Maul is telling the truth. Sure he didn't flat out dime Palpatine as Sidious, but he may have had Obi-Wan and Anakin actually shown up. But regardless of that, he gave Ahsoka pretty much all the details of what is on the way.

I just watched this episode again, and it is even better the second time around.

Ahsoka could have talked to Anakin as long as she wanted. He would have stopped listening as soon as he notice Obi-Wan is behind this.

This is the guy who got humiliated by the council and Obi-Wan (Anakin's view), again humiliated because it is not him to go after Grievious, and is used as a tool to spy on his friend.
In his position I would hang up as soon as Ahsoka mentions anything related to this. From Anakin's POV she would just be the next Person who wants something from him. Even if she would just tell him to yell at her and pour his hesrt out, he is too paranoide and over the hill to get it.

The "what if" is a question for Ahsoka to solve and one that is only relevant to her character.

Very true, I mean if he is driven enough to force choke the woman (pregnant with his kids) for whom he turned to the dark side for, then listening to reason is off the table.

It's funny (or should I say tragic?), when you hear Obi-Wan talk about Sidious and recall his encounter with Dooku in season 6 on Oba Diah... "I told you everything you needed to know on Geonosis all those years ago, Kenobi.". Man he is truly gonna blame himself during all these years he is going to spend in solitude on Tatootine.

Dooku literally told him everything and if he acted on it, he could have stopped so much... his best friend losing everything and becoming the embodiment of evil, not to mention the entire galaxy being condemned to tyranny.

Now that I think about it, I am getting even more hyped for the Obi-Wan series. So much stuff there to explore in terms of Obi-Wan's mindset, feelings of regret, sorrow and so forth.

Huh? Anakin Skywalker openly professed support for authoritarianism, beginning in AOTC. That’s part of his character, and one of the threads leading towards his downfall in ROTS. Seems a little odd that we’re not allowed to describe something that’s in the films. He was philosophically a fascist.

Facism isn't part of his character. Because that real life philosophy doesn't exist in the Star Wars Universe.

It was originally meant to cross over into Son of Dathomir, as Maul was supposed to fight Vos in SoD. That got cut, presumably because the comic was released before the book.

One animation detail I didn't catch until seeing images up close is you can see the small silver earing Ray Park had while playing Maul in The Phantom Menace is actually animated into Maul's ear in this episode. Later looked at older Clone Wars images and found it was there the whole time in other episodes I just didn't noice. That's a neat detail.

Ya, he would have been Dooku’s “apprentice” at the time (of course we know he always planned to turn on Tyranus in the end) since SoD happens between DD Part 1 and Part 2.

The deal of course with the Rule of Two is that the Apprentice is supposed to kill the Master.

It is expected that the Apprentice gives it a shot.

If Maul and Ahsoka rolled into Coruscant before Anakin was fully recruited, and took Sideous by surprise (though yeah, unlikely they'd succeed), would Maul become The Master?

    What's the Legal ruling?

Whomever is left standing I'd guess? So in the "what if" category I'd say Ahsoka and Anakin would then take out Maul.

    OMG OMG OMG.

I love this. And I have never loved Ahsoka more than I do in this episode.

“You’d find a lot of things about me to dislike.” That is priceless. “You’ll find I’m full of surprises” and “General Grievous, you’re shorter than I expected” rolled into one with an added teaspoon of salt. Light Side Asajj, if Light Side Asajj had been done right.

I say all this as someone who really liked Ahsoka in the first two seasons and thought she sucked the oxygen out of the room in seasons 3-5. Then came to appreciate her again as Fulcrum in Rebels.

Maul knew what was going on the entire time and wanted to use it to his advantage. Of course. But it was almost hard to be angry at him, except for what he did to Jesse.

Obi-Wan wanted Ahsoka to talk to Anakin. Oh, Obi-Wan, LOL. You haven’t learned. Even when Ahsoka reacted to Anakin’s mission with a TCW version of ‘are you ****ing kidding me?’

The duel was badass. I loved it. I hate that she lost her sabers though.

There is so much in this episode that I loved that it really is hard for me to choose. But I have to agree that the conversation between Obi-Wan and Ahsoka really resonated with me the most. Just because you can still see that Ahsoka has some major gripes with Obi-Wan and for him to ask her to basically defend the Council's order to her Brother more or less, yeah that was pretty gutsy for Obi-Wan

Heck no he doesn't, he more or less knows what is to come. Wiping out the Jedi is priority 1 for Sidious, but you can bet the house that Maul is high on that list as well.

Yea, I agree 100%. Maul is so chilling because you know he knows it ALL and it has this eerie feel. I have to say I forget Anakin being sent to spy on Palpatine but do remember Obi-Wan sent to Utapau to go after Grievous. The whole episode. Also, you see Ahsoka's face when talking to Obi-Wan and just this face lost face on her face like WTH happened?

Obi Wan very clearly indicated to Anakin he had misgivings about the idea. Obi Wan might be more by the books and loyal to the Council than Qui Gon was, but that doesn't mean he agrees with every decision they make. As for the when, Obi Wan had some time on board his Cruiser before his fighter entered hyperspace bound for Utapau.
