Could not find a topic for this one yet, unless it has been discussed in the movie or adult novelisation topic already.

I have to say this is pure gold. Like what Stovers ROTS novel was to Episode 3, this one has all that Carsons novel is lacking (and it was good, not top though, in her own right). The additional scenes and plenty of lore in this one really is what i need and had hoped to find in Carsons novel actually. Glad it ended up in here then.

Just to name a few standouts from the first few chapters:
    - scene transitions are expanded and work much better explaining what happens where, naming locations and people that the adult novel keeps random and only the VD identified so far as well as adding more
    - the Jedi Texts get quoted and we get names of authors, contributors and planets hinting at interesting ancient Jedi and Sith history. (extra points for it fits my theories I held and posted like a glove!)
    - one of the mentioned Jedi has a name I might take as new username if I ever need one

Now I need more than ever a new galaxy map placing all the new locations namedropped in ancient Jedi texts as well as the movie/book.

And that is just the beginning of this junior novel. So, who bought it and read it already? A lot to discuss that differs from the adult novel so it may warrant this own topic!

It mentions several of the ancient worlds the first Jedi seeded, like Ossus, Jedha, Xenxiar and Others. Also the worlds the Sith laid waste to like Korriban, Ziost, Ixigul, Asog and Others. (Ixigol is an alternate spelling/name of Exegol as the book later confirms).

The Junior Novel also names some Sith statues on Exegol giving Sith Lord names, new ones alongside Sadow's statue.

Also more Jedi author names: Jedi Master Lyr Farseeker (dibs on username usage of that name!!!), Kli the Elder,..

One has to wonder with them letting them use all these Sith names and recanozing a lot of Tales of the Jedi what exactly they plan to do with the ancient Jedi-Sith lore moving forward one day.

Will it be that maybe Tales of the Jedi is sorts the basic bases for it and then they'll just create stories around areas that are open to them? Who knows.

They're not much more than random names at this point, so I think there's still free reign to tell whatever stories they like at this point.

A lot, if not outright recanonised will remain I am sure, branded inuniverse retellings and tales/myths with only the core elements, like names, events canon but not specifics. Easy to do for the past. Heck Jason Fry and Dan Wallance even could do it for Han Solos Legends backstories aplenty in the not too distant past.

My notes chronicling all such ancient lore fit together nicely so far, with Ach-To the true origin long before Tython or the Rakata. Likewise Exegol seems to predate Korriban etc. too yet Sadows mention seems like the Sith found and used Exegol again in later times back when Ach-To was lost to myth still and the Jedi of TOR MMO era only re-discovered and used Tython for a time before it got lost to myth again till Darth Banes era. Makes one wonder when exactly and for how long the Sith hid in the Unknown Regions. Poor Revan thought he found the Hidden Sith when he located Vitiate and Dromund Kaas... but hidden even further, deeper Exegol was still guarded and secret as the last refuge to keep the Sith spark alive should all fail... and even when in TOR the heroes ventured to Zakuul and the Unknown Regions worlds aplenty, Exegol remained hidden.

So far I even incorporated the Zeffo and others where they fit best.

PS in case people missed it: AurekFonts (@AurekFonts) / Twitter on twitter and github (AurekFonts.github.io | Aurebesh Fonts and Resources) has created fonts for lots of new and old SW alphabets and scripts, including those of the Jedi Textbooks which had been decrypted and translated by him. LFL used a filler text about lightsaber construction and crystal healing for the books. The letters are inspired by real world ancient greek symbols (sometimes turned 90° or 180° and some other symbols) but did not use greek, just its symbols for their Protobesh/Coremaic font. The VD even mentions ancient Tionese in the Jedi textbooks (which in Legends was actual greek letters used in SW as per Hyperspace Article The Written Word). Fitting to use the greek signs thus for creating Protobesh/Coremaic. Several fonts of the same alphabet are in use in the books, some more handwritten, others more typewriter square-ish.

I'm still of the opinion that if any of these Pre Phantom Menace Jedi v Sith conflicts enters the irreconicble category of Legends it will be TOR....That's my hope at least.

Kinda cruel on the Lintra's, aren't they?
And given many (unfairly or not) compared Tallie favourably over Rose...

I loved Tallie and this intel expanding her family is sad and bittersweet but welcome! We need a pic and identify her with someone in the movie!

I’ve read some snippets of the junior novelization available on the Google Books preview, and it’s intriguing!

Question: Does it provide more/different info about how Palpatine may have come back to life?

I ask because in one of the pages available, after the line about dark science and cloning, Poe says the following:

“So the Emperor did die, but something came back.”

I’m also curious about whether we learn more about Exegol. For once, Maz talks about it like she already knew about it (though not where it was). And in an earlier chapter, it’s hint that Vader knew about Exegol, since his wayfinder seemed to be imbued essence and wasn’t just some meaningless artifact he kept in store.

Some more interesting bits from this Junior Novel:

One day I need to read junior and adult novel paralell to each other to compare scenes, povs and interpretations of movie events more directly.

Regarding the victory montage of First Order Stardestroyers going down across the galaxy, the junior novel had brief but interesting explanations for that.
First, it directly names several worlds that are in open rebellion during the Battle of Exegol already, including Corellia, Coruscant, Thyferry, Naboo, Bespin, Jakku, Lothal. The Resistance recieves reports about this happening during the battle, so these scenes definitely happen simultaneous to the movies battle, not afterwards.
Second, this in part was made possible because of what Finn and Jannah did on the command destroyer when they took it out as the junior novel explains the idea further. Yes the explanation is a bit tv tropey and not as scientifically sound but it does work. Taking out the command ship will have the First Order ships all across the galaxy in disarray given the command ships "comscan" goes down with it. Guess a centralised system like that turned out to be a major flaw in the end and centrism dies with it. Did the First Order really reroute or centralise communication that much that individual destroyers across the galaxy become vulnerable to be taken down easily? It is as cheesy tv trope as a comm-tower and signal being needed for the Exegol fleet to leave in the first place. But shoddy science in fiction is as old a stime itself. So we roll with it.

Also I loved that the Junior novel names many more pilots and ships in the fleets and their fates as well as confirming some survivors.

    I JUST THOUGHT OF SOMETHING

So...if Korriban/Moriband fell to the Sith...did-did the Sith originate from their then.

Does that contradict the idea of the Sith species?

Will there even be a Sith species now?

I'm not sure what Jakku being in open rebellion would even mean.

That it was once fertile doesn’t mean that it was ever controlled by anyone other than the Sith. It’s possible that it was decimated by one of the Jedi-Sith Wars.
