Thinking on it though... I don't think that spear usage there would be as informative as him using his disruptor and bayonet like a staff weapon... way back in the second episode of Season 1.

    ...I'd forgotten about that earlier.

Nooo way. Why would he change the Iron Man look for the power ranger scheme we saw in the armors of the death troopers who rescued Din in season 1? It looks way more modern with the current all-chrome look IMO.

I would change the inner suit for season 3, though. Or even the boots and the cape.

I don't think everyone's interested in a modern look. I like the chrome suit, but would also be open to some more color. Something with a little more cultural depth.

I like the look of bare metal with a little colored trim here and there. That's me:

Give Grogu finger paints for Life Day and leave him alone with the armor. It will be an artistic masterpiece fully deserving its place of honor on the door of the carbonite freezer.

Maybe he gets some color inspiration from Sabine as part of his progression. [face_idea]

But I am not a kid, not interested in buying toys. Just in the look of the character. Painting it just makes it look more like a cartoon.

Sure, sherlock, but certainly I feel no need to adjust my preferences just because more toys needs to be sold.

This has to be the most silly reason for a character to change its look ever, LOL.

I've only seen the last episode once and didn't think to look, did anyone notice if the darksaber left scars on the beskar? I remember a couple of shots that showed the spear glowing during prolonged contact with the blade.

It did not- beskar is lightsaber resistant, which includes the darksaber.

I do wonder if George would allow them to do this if he was still around. In one of the behind-the-scene videos for ROTS, George talks how lightsabers could cut through anything, which is why he had to come up with the electrostaffs for the MagnaGuards.

I still prefer to think that lightsabers can cut even through beskar, it just takes lot of time. The spear heating up in Chapter 16 also implied to me that if Gideon would have kept the pressure, the blade would eventually cut through it.

I think a strong enough direct thrust would do the job. Lightsaber duels involve a lot more of slashing and parrying.

Bo-Katan even says the Darksaber cannot cut through pure Beskar.

I've wondered how Qui-Gonn didn't burn his hand or feel pain. His hand was so close to the plasma. :)

Bit of does start glowing on contact so maybe it can be melted with prolonged contact with a light/darksabre. Ultimately, it is melted to form shapes I guess.

Probably the funny take away after all of this is all those deaths on TCW/Rebels by strikes on the jet backs and gun shot wounds didnt really happen, lol. Mando's pack was fine and Mando takes constant damage and fun fire and so did Kosco Sleeves, lol. Probably Boba's pack in ROTJ was imitation.8-}.

They do say "pure" beskar, so it can be explained that most Mandalorians during this period don't have their armor made out of pure alloy. Which makes Din's armor really special and really expensive. You could probably buy a small cruiser in exchange for that armor.

Pure beskar being lightsaber resistant also explains how the Mandalorians were able to wage a war against the Republic and the Jedi in the ancient past. An army of elite warriors, each having blaster/lightsaber resistant armor made out of pure beskar, that's some scary stuff, for the Jedi.

Yeah, I feel like the particular emphasis Bo put on the “pure” Beskar statement here bleeds into the idea that there are warriors without that high of a purity content in their armor - which kind of makes sense given the ancestral and recycled use of it, since you may be stretching out Beskar supplies among multiple family members or foundlings, but still consider it important to the very identity of being Mandalorian.

...It also makes me want *someone* to make some kind of competitive tradition where a victorious Mandalorian might strip a fallen enemy of his armor to strengthen his own, just for fun.

Am afraid that makes no sense at all and that is fan fiction.

There is no evidence of this, since Bo-Katan armor is of the same quality, same with Kosca and Axe. On top of that Death Watch would've had access to pure Beskar, since they had all the time to mine it for years and years as they were secretly building up to their 5,000 or so warriors to preparation to topple Satine's regime. Even if their armor was made of of a mix of Beskar with say Durasteel it still would've been incredibly strong and resistant to blaster fire which it was not or solid objects piercing he armor like Ahsoka throwing a pole like a spear.

On TCW, the armor was not anymore protective than Stormtrooper or Clone Trooper armor. The Mando's on TCW may as well been wearing plastic too.

Furthermore likely many suits of Death Watch armor have been in the individual warrior's family for generations.

A Beskar shortage is only a post Clone War thing we learn on this show in Season One. The Imperials looted Mandalore and turned the planet to glass. Moreover Fett's armor is of the same quality as Djarins and it goes back to alteast the pre-Clone Wars days of the Civil War between the True Mandalorians( Death Watch) and the New Mandalorians(Satine's regime).

This show does not explain how Jango's armor can get dented like it did in AOTC, Djarin's takes repeated blows by a Dark Trooper and not even the glass cracks. Boba's rocket pack getting damaged in ROTJ is now more comical. Canon just discarded Jango's armor being durasteel on this very show.

Unfortunately this show relies too much on plot armor and this magical metal is a consequence of this.
