Started at 21:22 and finished at 22:55.

    Oh my I love this.

    Sheesh me this is sublime.

It took me a while to adjust to damn expansive and amazingly unique cast, but when I did, sheesh me. I love so many of these characters.

The Emergences? Imagine the problem with the Battle of Mindor and multiply the difficulty level by a thousand. Helluva tense.

The Path engines? Jarring and inventive.

The Chancellor? Well I love her. She’s so... I don’t have words for how empowering it is to see a brilliant Chancellor.

    The Nihil leader? Terrifying

So many planets and species and places named. It’s incredible. Made the galaxy seem utterly immense.

I really don’t have words for how hyped I am for the next instalments.

Same boat, except I stopped with Last Shot. Picked this up today. Will give it a shot after my current book.

Finished first part. Overall impressions very positive.
It was engaging to see the Jedi and everyone else work together to save everyone. So far liking Loden and Bell the most, although I also liked the rescue efforts of captain bright. No real impressions on Avar yet, other than she's a powerful jedi.

I thought the introduction to the Nihl was very well done. They seem like they could be an interesting adversary.

I haven't purchased any of the books yet, but I have read enough spoilers that I can answer your question at least partly.
Yoda's apparently a bit of a wanderer, some Jedi apparently question if he wants to return back to Coruscant which he answers in the negative. So he likes being out on the frontier and isn't in a rush to get back to temple life and settle into his role as one of the orders 3 Grand Masters.

There is apparently a council meeting at some point in one of the sources where Oppo Rancisis makes mention if the Jedi having been warriors in the past, and speculating that he will likely live to see them take up that role again. (Considering that he is famous as a Jedi strategist I do like that he is the one to bring this up).

Yarael Poof insinuates that there have been times in the past where the Jedi's numbers have been greatly reduced.

Aside from that I don't know anything else, though I would love to hear the thoughts of someone who has read it in its full context.:)

The fact that Oppo Rancisis was apparently a member of the Council 25 years before he was born still strikes me as funny.

Well, that was his legends age. I don't think it was ever confirmed in a canon source. Quigon had a similar change of Birth date in Master and Apprentice which stated he was two decades younger than his legends counterpart.

What is canon is that Rancisis trained under Yaddle, who interestingly enough apparently isn't on the Council in this period. Though she is still in her 400s during TPM as far as I can tell. Technically speaking Rancisis was on the Council before Yaddle in legends too, but that is more a product of comic book artists reusing the images from the film council for pretty much any source taking place around that period, and was ambiguous at best considering she really didn't have a chance to train him in Yaddles Tale: The One Below.

Unless any of the sources say otherwise I'm just assuming Rancisis is in his 50s during these events and his species just matures a lot faster relative to Yoda's.

I've only read the first chapter so far, but I have to say, the introduction before the first chapter hit me in the feels and made me want to read more.

How is Marchion Ro as a villain? Does he take off the mask?

So the 2 Jedi you guys are talking about in the spoilers are alive during this era?

They are long lived members of the council who the authors decided would still be on the council in this era.
Technically in legends Rancisis was born after this era, but he was long lived there too and this basically extends his life by a century.
He was in Episode I, II and TCW but off the council by Episode III.

Yareal Poof we know less about, in fact it wasn't even canon he was long lived in either continuity until he showed up here.
He only appeared in Episode I because Lucas was concerned he looked too much like a Kaminoan in Episode II.

Finished my Dresden book today, so gave this a start right before bed. Read the first forty pages, so ended up on I think the start of chapter six. Good start so far! Definitely the most engaged I've been in a Star Wars book for a while!

I want to go in and read this, Claudia’s book which comes out next month and then the comics, I would like a Visual Guide or Deluxe edition of any book compiling all the art about characters and locations that has been released.

Like someone mentioned in the last page, I’ve read some books and while some are great, they are to fill in the gaps between movies and tv shows, but here it’s a whole blank canvas with a full on plan for the next 2-3 years, the Acolyte show and then the rumors of a movie or animated show.

This along all the shows announced will keep us entertained for the next 3-5 years?? Star Wars alive and well in this decade!

Alive? It was never dead. I mean, sure, SW went out, got drunk, did a lot of bad stuff, impaled itself with a lightsaber but that was just a flesh wound, so still alive.

TBF this feels like the Star Wars I'm used to. Not the story thus far, about 70 pages in, but the nature of it as a publishing blitz.

Feels like NJO or SOTE or the Clone Wars novels or even SWTOR(I never really got into those, was never impressed with what I did read).

Because of the era that I really became a Star Wars fan, books and comics feels more like "the" Star Wars to me. And here we have a publishing centric Star Wars for a change. After 5 years. Feels very familiar.

As loath as I am to say it.

    This feels like Legends.

    It really does.

My only hesitation is that barring something a little more accessible to non-readers, this is going to be fairly niche. Then we'll be gatekeeping the High Republic era when The Acolyte rolls around.

A cartoon series and a video game would really open it up. The guys on the Star Wars Report podcast suggested an open world RPG ala Skyrim. I think that's a great idea, and would set it apart from SWTOR.

It'd be perfect because you can have hundreds of Jedi.

Keep the Sith to NPCs only, and bam.

    Done.

The way that Avar Kriss connects all the Jedi through the Force at Hetzal feels like a combination of Jedi Battle Meditation and the Jedi Battle Meld from NJO. It really does make this feel like Legends and would easily slot into a "this the Jedi at their height" tale that might inspire Luke in the face of the Yuuzhan Vong.

I'm about 90 or so pages in, so this is all I've got to say right now. I'm enjoying this.

Loden Greatstorm is as badass as his name.
