Gaming Horizon Series: Zero Dawn (PS4) and Forbidden West (PS4/5)

ah no worries, title of the next game kinda spoiled it anyway hahaha. anyway this was one of the best 10 dollar purchases I've ever made, I do love how videogame pricing basically sinks like a stone after a year or more out.

 

Unless it's Nintendo.

we're getting a look at Forbidden West in 2 days!



I did the Frozen Wilds expansion awhile go, fantastic game (Honestly, one of my favourite in years) and that is a super challenging expansion. And I did every dang part of it up to the final hunt down 5 ice monster Ice Claw thingies which I did pull off and then had a very long satisfying exposition dump conversation with the A.I. for all the sweet lore tidbits. then I took all my expansion quest gear and did the final battle again. Much easier and more satisfying as I even unlocked a trophy for getting all of the allies together in the final battle which I didn't before.

Anyway, more Horizon to come! Yahooo!

 

I follow an HZD group on Facebook, and that announcement had been reposted about a dozen or so times over the course of the past 24 hours.

Depending on when the new game will be released, I'm probably going to wind up leaving that group. Game groups like those are terrible for keeping spoilers at bay for an extended amount of time, and I don't plan on getting the game until I own a PS5.

 

I may play this on PS5 if I get one summer 2022. My game backlog is long and winding road that I eventually am determined to get through eventually. Or maybe still on PS4. There aren't any PS5 exclusives really so far, everything is getting a PS4 release. And I trust Gurellia to not pull a Cyberpunk and make it unplayable on PS4.

 

I believe Forbidden West is going to be a PS5 exclusive.

I really can't wait. I loved playing Zero Dawn.

 

The initial ps5 launch announcement said that Forbidden West is also PS4 and that's also why I'm currently playing Spider-Man Miles Morales on PS4 too

Okay, I stand corrected.

 

There is one hell of a difference between playing HZD on base PS4 at 1080 HD and on PS5 with 4k HDR, it's huge. And that's on a 4-year old game.

They will stick with PS4 / PS5 versions due to the limited supply of the latter, but there will be a big difference between the two.

 

I really need to consider upgrading my TV to a 4K rather than standard HD.

I do however need to repair the roof of my house.

Fix the roof, then when you've a spare £300 you can bag a decent 43" HDR 4k TV.

 

43" is smaller than my current TV, I'd be aiming to push for 50-55" next time (mini cinema in the lounge)

 

We do have PS5 (E was lucky enough to preorder) and we also recently upgraded our telly to a 55" 4K one (thank you, maternity return bonus! ), as our old one was getting buggered with dark patches. I haven't tried playing HZD on it, as I finished it ages ago, so I'm just waiting for HFW now. But E plays Destiny and the difference between PS4 and PS5 on that is massive. Really looking forward to Forbidden West!

Need a release date. It looks amazing

 

Just watched the whole show. Pretty amazing. I couldn't take the live chat because there were obvious spammers badmouthing the game within the first two minutes of the footage, so I watched it on YouTube in the Full Screen. I'm definitely sold. As I said before, even if it does come out for the PS4 I still plan on waiting until I get the PS5 console.

That was great. Looks gorgeous. I love the new abilities Aloy now has - especially the ropes she can shoot at walls to quickly pull herself out of danger and the shiny parachute.

 

The new gameplay mechanics were the real story of the show. I like the phantom hang-glider thingy that she has now. That could be very useful where in the past you were looking for ropes to slide down on.
