He has an intensity Brosnan simply can’t match, imo. I like Brosnan, but he always felt a little lightweight to me.

Dr No, From Russia with Love , Goldfinger and Thunderball were such landmark films, i cant see anybody but Connery in them , he set the standard and all who followed him were always gonna be 2nd best to him .

I really wish they'd gone that route. Dalton was a good Bond. He was just in terrible movies. Roger Moore will always be the worst Bond, as far as I'm concerned.

Been thinking of my Craig-era ranking and have come up with the following:

    1. Casino Royale
    2. Skyfall
    3. Quantum of Solace
    4. No Time To Die
    5. Spectre

I've only seen NTTD once, so it may slide upward in twelve months.
But 1 and 5 are locked in for good.

I think I'd rank No Time to Die like barely notches underneath Skyfall. Skyfall only wins out because it's a standard done in one Bond flick which the rest of the Craig series tends to actively disown. Which is fine, it gives Craig's run it's own vibe but Skyfall is the one I can pop in and watch while the other 4 feel like a required series watch. Favourite baddie of the Craig series too. Also it's the funniest one in the series, the quip game in Skyfall is freakin' gold ("The entire place goes up on smoke and only that bloody thing survives") No time to Die is so high because it hits those emotional moments, like, insanely well. (M's death in Skyfall may be the emotional apex of the Craig series for me, then Vesper's death and then the death of... well, y'know)

Casino Royale is awesome but to be honest, it's s a mite action-lite for what I need out of a Bond movie (well okay the opening action stretch is amazing). Great character stuff in the Casino Royale section of Casino Royale though. solid #3 though. Le Chiffre is a great baddie too, even though all he does is kinda smirk (and then beat the bejesus outta Bond) but holy hell he's great at that. Spectre is #4 only because friggin Blofeld and Spectre are in it, dammit. (also the cinematography in it is incredible, visually it's barely a notch underneath the Jaw droppingly beautiful Skyfall and Spectre still looks amazing) Quantum of Solace (Which, to be fair, I've basically viewed that's Spectre pulling the strings there too which the movie Spectre did reinforce.) is basically Casino Royale. Part II, the Third Act. It's not one that I would watch on it's own, it's basically required viewing with another film.

Unrelated, great lines in that Honest Trailer that trying to remember Mr. White would be a chore because "that character was introduced in the Bush Admiration!" and when Bond doesn't hit on the beautiful secret agent lady, it's time to put him out to pasture at a farm upstate. Harsh hahaha.

The new Bond should be Simon Pegg.
And if not James Bond then at least James Pond.

Ok I just finished it and i enjoyed it, its above both Quantum of Solace and Spectre for me. Its just below the best bond movies like Casino Royale and Skyfall. I quite liked the plot and how it touched on the earlier films. Quite sad and tragic end for mr Bond, James Bond. Family and love for country.

    My ranking now are.
    1. Casino Royale
    2. Skyfall
    3. No Time To Die.
    4. Spectre
    5. Quantom of Solace

The Living Daylights wasn't that bad, but I thought License to Kill was one of the worst in the series.

LTK is one of the better Bond films, imo. I've always liked it.

There's 25 movies put there (not counting non-EON ones) so everyone can find something to their liking.

Both of Dalton’s entries were pretty solid, though they also demonstrate that the series was clearly in need of new blood behind the scenes. At the very least, John Glen should have been removed from the director’s chair after A View to a Kill.

Well, if it's reported by the British tabloid press it must be true.

    I know, right?

Although you have to admit, it sounds exactly like the kind of thing Bezos would try to do...

It's not based on anything substantive anyway, they just like to stir stuff up. And that's not a new article... it says it was published yesterday, but I think that's a re-publishing of an article from earlier this year, which is given away by this part:
"007 films continue to be so popular that movie theater bosses hoping the latest installment, No Time To Die, will revitalize the COVID-ravaged movie theater industry when it is released in November after multiple pandemic delays."

Either way, Amazon is buying MGM, which would only give them 50% of the Bond equation; they're not buying EON, and without EON nothing changes or happens Bond-wise.

I wouldn't put it past Bezos - assuming he's that interested - to offer an obscene amount of money for the remaining 50% of Bond rights, after all he already looks a bit like Blofeld so I'm sure he'd get an ego trip... :p

This was surprisingly good, it's certainly way ahead of Spectre, which managed to do so little with such a great case.

Malak was the weakest part of it. I can't really be impressed by a villain using a toddler as a human shield, it is such a weak look, surely a villain can do better than this?

But the central idea running through this, the idea of Bond trying to overcome the habits of a lifetime and failing, while Swann deals with the legacy cast by her father which she fears Bond will replicate for her daughter, is a good one. It is also the logical endpoint for Craig's version of Bond. A man who unused to feeling has allowed himself to and we see where that goes.

If they really are true to the ideas displayed here and have any conviction about them the next film has to be with Lynch as Bond. She was OK in the film, overcoming a painfully macho start to work her way up to her standout sequence - kicking a racist Russian threatening ethnocide into a lake of acid! That was perfect.

One off note was just how stupid M was, an experienced spymaster believing an engineered precision assassination weapon would stay as that? Come on, that's utter bollocks. Still, it made for a good enough plot device and Harris, Whishaw and Kinnear are a good support cast with Fiennes.

That bit at the end? "James Bond will return" - yeah, right. Short of a reboot, I don't think so.

Overall, I enjoyed this. It has some excellent cinematography in places and some surprising casting, I never expected to see Hugh Dennis in a Bond film!

Finally got around to watching Spectre last night, man was that awful. Incredible how you can waste all that actingvtalwnt with a poor script and direction.
