The Mandalorian Fennec Shand (Spoilers)

Even if she was in the opposite role playing the far more calm person and Boba was the more active cool fighter character?

 

I'd say probably not because you'd still have the one boring character in the lead role and the more interesting character in the support role. What I would really like is Boba to look more clued in and to look more of a threat than he currently does. To me, the Boba here and the Boba in The Mandalorian are two different characters whereas Shand is more consistent.

 

So then just watch the show with the assumption that Fennec is the lead character, and Boba is the supporting one, and you’ll enjoy it more.

 

There were a few lines from this last episode that seem ripe for the clichéd "it's like I told you..." as Fennec betrays Boba.

 

That would be a dumb twist.

 

I could see them having Fennec betray him although I agree it'd be a dumb twist. But in a show that had established a properly layered and unique dynamic between its two main characters, a betrayal like that could be good.

 

There is absolutely nothing in the show thus far that would justify such a twist.

 

Good twists need to have a set-up.
You can't just randomly make something unexpected happen and call it a twist. I mean, you can, but it'd suck.

 

Not making sense would match this show though.

 

The character story is constructed around a bond of loyalty formed between them due to their respective near-death experiences, life-saving, and now we learn, a desire to work together to free themselves of crappy criminal bosses. Having Fennec betray Boba “because criminals” would be the laziest possible story route Favreau could take. Criminals aren’t just naturally traitors. And if they are, in a human drama, you need to give us a compelling reason for it.

 

Darn it! My joke meter is malfunctioning this week.

 

Judging from the events in Mando S2, Fennec and Boba are working together. Does it look like they have agreed to go their separate ways at the end of S2? Temporarily, for the purpose of the rescue, yes.

But long-term, I'd say no. They're still working effectively. No treason.

Boba and Fennec will re-unite in future and I think stay united. They might not just limit each othet to Tat'tween of course.

 

Yes. My point, long-winded as it was, was that Fennec doesn't betray Boba, as was being suggested as a TBOBF plot twist.

 

I don’t think she will, no. Would be a cheap twist. But Mando S2 doesn’t confirm that because Mando S2 happens before the present timeline of TBOBF.

 

Mando S2 does not confirm it, no, while TBOBF suggests a strong bond. Betrayal would be a cheap twist.

 

I'm curious about what Fennec was doing immediately prior to The Gunslinger and whether the person she was meeting in Mos Espa will be referenced again.
