After DS9 went boom in the books, O'Brien returned to its successor.

He died in Coda Book II.

For once I’m actually grateful that books aren’t canon.

Coda did the best job it could with the wrecking ball that the Picard series inflicted.

And getting a wrap-up trilogy instead of it all being abandoned and left in limbo is more than we get with most reboots.

Before all that, the DS9 continuation books were great.

I would love to see a story where Moriarty somehow met the Doctor from Voyager. Sentient hologram meets sentient hologram.

Of course, he'd conspire to steal the Doctor's mobile emitter. :)

In Star Trek Online's backstory, the Soong Foundation were suing Starfleet to get Moriarty out of "imprisonment without trial". Don't know how far they got though.

Honestly, I really like the idea of O'Brien as a teacher; in the episodes where he's shown being a mentor to a younger engineer he seems to really enjoy it, and I always got the sense that while he loves engineering, he hates the amount of overwork and thanklessness that comes with being an engineer; as a professor he would'nt be run ragged, would probobly have better ours (and thus more time to spend with his family) and, given that it's Starfleet Academy and he's a decorated combat officer/war hero who served under two of the most famous captains in the fleet, would'nt probobly get a lot more respect then he's used to.

she might be, but it's also possible that the Borg Queens are genetically engineered in some way.

I mean, we never really got it explained *how* the Queen works - I think their all supposed to be the same individual, but clearly they can move their consciousness between bodies and we've know that since First Contact

Lol, is that supposed to be a compliment or an insult? I geniunly can't tell![face_laugh]

Star Wars Beta canon is wack and always has been; Seven of Nine is stright-up killed in one comic, they don't even bother to keep the Mirror Universe's continuity stright and the old DC comics made some huge story assumptions in the gap between the release of TWOK and the release of STIII.

Honestly, I've always just taken the approch of cherrypicking which things I like best and can actually make fit with the canon for my own headcanon; it's basically impossible to make the whole thing work as one coherent universe, though (though not as hard as making non-show Doctor Who stories work with the tv show)

    @Iron_lord

That raises an interesting question; if Starfleet were able to sucessfully reverse engineer the mobile emitter, would they release Moriarty from his simulation?

I mean, if he has the personality and sociopathy of the actual literary Moritary (which he should) then they'd probobly end up having to throw him in jail or kill him anyway, but I can't really imagine in being in-character for Starfleet to keep him decieved and imprisoned on the basis of "is a simulacrum of a literary villain whose only real crimes were based on wanting to have the freedom any sentiment being should be allowed."

Also, speaking of STO, given that Picard is slowly and inevitably overriting elements of the game's lore, does anyone think they'll eventually do a massive update to the game to bring it more in-line with current Trek canon (for instance, replacing the Stargazer-A with Rios's Sagan-class ship); I know they already, IIRC, updated Seven's appearence and they've always been quick to update the ship rosters when new movies and shows add new vessels, so it's clearly something they're aware of on some level.

I've started playing STO again and I quite like it as this weird hodge-podge of different Star Trek timelines and continuities. I'm just happy with the shows bringing in stuff from there where it excels and that makes sense, like the ships.

Eh, I've played STO on and off over the years since it luanched and, while it think it's fun and a lot better then when it was first released, the over-abundence of ships that don't really belong in the era (ancient NX-class vessels, Kelvin timeline vessels, ships from the far future), everyone running around in a hodgepodge of uniforms and the designs of *some* of the ships has always bugged me.

Roleplaying means it would be unfair to do away with the first two things althogether, but I'd love if they just
    • Streamline and simply the main ship list, replacing certain vessels that are either too "long in the tooth" circa the early 2400s or whose designs are too cheap/ugly (subjective, I know) with newer post-Nemesis designs that did'nt exist when the game was made.
    • Replaced the defualt uniforms with the late-2300/early 2400s ones from Picard.
    • Patched the games storyline so it fits with canon.
    • Make your crew - or at least a few *main* ones - more distinct and notable, rather then just a group of random NPCs dolls (I loved having Tilly as chief engineer in the Disco-era storyline, for starters)
    • Add in overt RPG aspects (opitions to define your personality more clearly through dilogue choices, romances with specific NPCs, ect)
    • Make it so you start of as an XO, rather then a fresh academy grad, and that your actual in-game rank (the one people use to refer to you in dilogue) is captain as soon as your given formal command of your ship and remains as such even after you progress through the "level system" ranking to admiral (it always bugged me how many Lts. and full admirals their are buzzing around in the game).
    • Made it so that, at least with the Federation, you pick a specialization (command, science, engineering, tactical) that gives you acess to a specific "tech tree" of ships and a specific starting vessel. Something like...
      • Command: Reliant-class (replacing the Miranda in the main ship list)
      • Science: Oberth-class
      • Engineering: California-class
      • Tactical: New Orleans-class

I've seen things about that game periodicly, but had forgotten about it; it's sorta like a telltale game, right?

Looks like it could be fun, honestly, and it would be nice to get a detailed look a Centaur-class.

My favorite Trek game is Elite Force II.

Don't you take my Odyssey uniforms away from me! They're the best uniforms since they came up with the First Contact ones.

I mean, you could still have those in the game. I just think it would make more sense from a continuity perspective to have the *defualt* uniforms be the Picard ones.

Miles would've lost his book as part of a bet with Bashir. Other than that, spot on.

Bashir showing Miles how well he really could play darts at the end of That One Episode is just priceless.
