That bugged me too. I get that they're trying to be morally ambiguous, but that felt contrived. TCW is every bit as canon as Andor and I don't buy for a second that the clone troopers depicted on that show would kill a child because he was on a Separatist shuttle (not including outliers like Dogma).

Yeah, clones aren't trigger-happy idiots, like those corporate cops. They wouldn't shoot him on sight, and he doesn't even look like a Separatist - he's a child, who can't speak basic, wearing nothing but rags and armed with a stick. The story is still unfolding, which is why judging individual episodes is pretty useless in what is essentially a 12-hour movie. We'll have to see where the story goes. It is sensible that Marva would want to take him away, because the Seppies killed a Republic Officer, the Republic forces are specifically in pursuit after them, and the kid was on the Seppie's ship - you wouldn't wanna risk him getting into the crossfire. It makes sense. But from canon, if I recall correctly, Cassian was a Separatist and didn't like the Republic much? Correct me if I am wrong, but this background is out of the window, because it was explicitly Separatists, who killed his friend from the tribe. He saw their insignia and he saw them shooting his friend dead.

How about the guy turning in Cassian. He didn’t live to regret it. Seems like that would be a big no-no on a world like that to turn someone in. Sure he thought he’d make his girlfriend’s life easier. Maybe he thought he was removing a romantic rival on some level too. But giving someone up to the oppressors seems like a bigger betrayal of society. The sort of betrayal that if it was known would result in the rat having a fatal accident.

As for Republic forces killing kid Cassian. We don’t know enough what’s happening there. Late stage Phase 2 Clones after Order 66 are ruthless. There could be other factors at play.

I absolutely love this show already. I would say it's the kind of Star Wars show I've been waiting for, but this kind of quality has appeared in The Mandalorian, Kenobi and with Bryce Dalla Howard's contribution in TBOBF. But Star Wars is heading in a great direction for me with this kind of production.

I love the grittier, more mature tone. I love how cinematic virtually every scene looks. I love the world-building. I especially love the acting. And I really love the music and how its used to convey feeling and emotion and to reinforce the different settings.

Virtually every scene has a real authentic feel to it. Andor feels like I am watching a movie - it's that level of quality. I can't remember the planet's or sector's name (as there seems to be multiple planets close to each other), but it felt very Solo-like in terms of how Corellia looked. And I loved how Gilroy has re-created that same sense of scale as SOLO; and as how he did this in Rogue One. It's just brilliant world-building and yet again, the visuals and sounds give the place its own sense of existence - its own unique feel.

So far, there are no Stormtroopers, no other Imperials, no Jedi and no Sith. But I don't care because its every bit Star Wars to me as the rest. In my head, I don't view the Star Wars Galaxy as focusing in on one character at one location. On Tatooine right now, Luke Skywalker is "growing up". On Alderaan, Princess Leia is learning the political ropes from her father. Han Solo is working for crime lords like Jabba the Hutt, And Cassian Andor's life is this - and about to become so much more. Even down to some random moisture farmer on Tatooine, I look at Star Wars from an overall ever-expanding Galaxy point of view where all of these different people in different places are creating the future Galaxy history. Thats the best I can articulate the thoughts in my head. So, when I watch some big, fat and lazy police chief telling his hawkish junior officer to fabricate a story because he doesn't want to attract too much Imperial attention, I just love this because it feeds into who the Empire really is. But it is its own unique story, in its own unique setting, with its own unique people and way of life. There is still that connection to what is happening in the rest of the Galaxy.

And this for me is really well acted and what is happening is believable. Not a bunch of lame street-mod kids who can take on and beat seasoned bad guys like the Pykes. People die and get hurt in this show in believable scenarios. I like that kind of realism.

They kept referring to the crashed ship and people as republic, but didn’t their suits have the CIS symbol on them?

IIRC, when the Corsec cops were researching Cassian there was a brief mention of the planet being toxic or hazardous or something. Then in the flashbacks, we saw the crashed ship crew with their protective gear, but the marooned kids were running around with nothing. Maybe the crash is what caused the world to be poisoned? It seems similar to the backstory of the Noghri homeworld. I expect we'll learn more soon.

Amen. And this episode is an 11/10 for me.

What’s the name of the short, stocky corporate security guy? Best villain since Krennic. Has some killer lines in this and last episode.

    This show is incredibly good.

Only ONE of the corporate cops was trigger happy, and he got immediately chewed out by his partner as a result (and sent to retrieve their transport). Your description of what they do in this episode, which reinforces your assertion that they are cartoonish, is simply not accurate.

Not sure what his name was. I'll need to rewatch it again. But I wholeheartedly agree. He and Syril are really good together. I love how after Syril gives his "motivational" speech there's an awkward pause followed by him clapping and saying essentially, "Great speech, boss!" [face_laugh]

Linus Mosk. So far my favourite character in this show.

At first, I thought that he gains Syril's trust via flattery to betray him later and take his place, but seems that he just wanted to help his boss.

Just watched all three episodes again. Its so good I couldn't possibly score it. I hope the two season keep this quality up. Outstanding.

I'm really enjoying The Rings of Power and House Of The Dragon too. Boss TV overload all at once.

Episode three picked up the pace and delivered a great one. The suspense was great, intrigue on the flashbacks was interesting as we are all trying to figure out what the CIS was doing. I think we all though Cassian was working for the CIS at this time. Maybe once he goes with Maarva? But then how or why would he join a cause that one of their men shot his friend? Unless he didn't know and finds out later?
Love the village responding to the Imperial security arrival, the banging of metal and such. Now I believe the higher ups will now get involved with Syril being pushed to the side (maybe another villian that will realize what he's doing is wrong). So Imperials are now intervening with...Clones? Or at least phase II armor. This will get interesting.

Best episode yet. I find Luthen very likable in that grizzled veteran way. Looking foreward to seeing why Cyril believes and enlisted in the empire/corporate sector.

The savvy sergeant and incompetent lieutenant is a pretty common trope in military movies. Here, it was done very well.

I'm not over the moon with this series as many already are, but I still think it's still quite good overall. Luthen already instructing Cassian in spycraft was quite memorable, and there were some resonant emotional beats towards the end.

Maarva's discovery of young Cassian in the flashback felt a bit abrupt, and I'm missing some connective tissue between her insistence on taking him and his present day relationship with her.

The Republic was coming and would be punishing the tribe who killed their officers so Maarva insisted on taking the boy with them so he didn't share in the retaliation his people were about to suffer.

But the tribe didn't kill their officers. The people from the crashed ship were Separatists. The officers were seemingly killed by these Separatists, which is why their ship was shot down and crashed in the first place. Unless it's an egregious error and they mismatched the Republic and CIS insignias, which I seriously doubt.
