The Father can die and still be around.. I mean, Mortis is not literal despite being physical anyway. If Morai can be Daughter, and Son manifest in the Grand Inquisitor serving Vader, then the Father can be Bendu and appear anywhere he wants. Pity though Abeloth then tried to fill empty thrones that arn't quite empty and messed with the wrong people that are new avatars of the Ones.

I like that history repeats itself, not just in visual cues but also quotes, characters, kinda like rebirth in the GFFA. In that regard not-Mace can very well be his previous life. But droids, Empire and TCW tech and all, that is a bit much and maybe more artistic license as I proposed of inuniverse media depicting the distant past via modern means.

Great callback to the script indeed then.
Assuming your theory holds with post Legacy comics as setting, and your Headcanon of Skywalker descended Ronin and witch daugther, can there be more callbacks to earlier eras aside Carbonite-Mace? Could Ronin himself or his daughter be people we know? It is an age of ghosts and resurrections after all as we know from the novel and as just posted in the headcanon topic, I'd like to connect them somehow to other parts of Legends we have yet to see fulfilled.

What if Ronin is a Jacen Solo reborn/resurrected post Legacy? His daughter could be Allana, with both visions of the Throne of Balance coming true, the light and the dark one. Dathomiri can get very old via the Force and even slow down aging or look young despite age via the Force. (see "the Rancor" from Quinlan Vos comics, see Mother Rell at 400 years old, etc.) so I could see the visions coming to pass post Legacy and Jacen being resurrected or returning somehow due to his long shadowed legacy and having to save Allana from her dark self as the next Witch after her mother. Also I do not like to see Tenel Ka or Allana to go dark, I can imagine it fitting this story if they have to live through the Legacy era and have yet to locate and tangle with Abeloth one more time. That can drive them over the edge loosing other loved ones on the way. And Jacen returning from "death" can kinda mirror Revan in the TOR MMO era and his many return and post-death legacy! Kinda while putting characters through the grinder again it would give some fans closure for them maybe that was cut short.

yeah I'm keeping it in hundred year darkness in my head canon but that can change with more stuff like the manga adding more info as they come out. Im just shocked they included the father. thats like one if not the first appearance of any of the mortis gods in comic media or media outside clone wars or novels .

Just finished reading the issue. Really enjoyed it... though the lightsaber toothpick that we briefly saw was a bit silly. Headcanon-wise, I still want to place it in the Hundred Year Darkness.

Personally bounty hunters is my second favorite of the non-High Republic lines running right now, second to Dr. Aphra specifically, but yeah more visions style comics would be greatly appreciated.

Actually Bounty Hunters has good content lore-wise and references but I never got to like any of its characters. They just do not stick with me. Also in initial runs the art was terrible for my comic tastes but that improved a lot.

Huh. The characters are my favorite part. Well, that or the action - normally I am not a big fan of comic book action but somehow it worked for me.

But anyway, visions thread - I enjoyed this comic.
I especially liked how the vision the ronin had of dying if he had his hand on his blade. The Ronin is pretty badass, but the shogun is on another level.

Interesting that in the backstory war the Jedi army seems to be clone wars republic stuff, while the sith followers were established in the original to use a lot of imperial and FO looking gear. I mean, I guess that makes sense as a civil war, but it is an fun take on the universe none the less, really takes advantage of being an au.

I only wish we had gotten a look at the top side of that Venator. The way the Star Destroyer is described in the Ronin novel, I got the impression that the bridge tower is basically a Japanese castle. I would have liked to see that.

However, are we even certain this comic is supposed to be in continuity with the novel? They could be using The Duel as a jumping off point for dozens of disparate stories, rather than having them all be "canon" to each other.

That actually might be more fun.

I am also very curious to what degree the various Ronin spin offs are in continuity with one another, and to be honest I am not sure what answer I even want. Exploring the world of the novel is certainly intriguing, but there is something of the spirit of Visions to see independent takes on the same concept.

Glad I wasn't the only one who got Afro Samurai vibes from the shogun. The cross over the left eye also gave me Nick Fury vibes. So yes, definitely a Mace variant.
My favorite visual aspect of The Duel was the monochrome with only lights and lightsabers given color, so great to see that here too, which made this issue's duel all the more striking.

If the Dreadnought in the novel was 20 years after the war, it was likely an ISD by then, no?

Maybe, but I would think the bridge tower castle motif would be essentially the same.

Love this idea. It'll be interesting to see a new interpretation of the dark side — the shorts haven't really delved into that stuff too much yet.

Not sure why every one-shot has to have a #1 attached though. Why not just leave the number off if no #2 is planned, then start adding numbers if the comic does continue?

Huh, the last bit makes it sound like the dark side cult isn't evil, but earlier it said the protagonist would have to confront their evil.

I almost thought it was a younger her for a second.

Both of these comics are good news! I missed the announcement for the first one last month... is that an Imperial wheel on her forehead on the comic cover? Is it possible that this story takes place centuries after the death of Darth Sidious, or is this meant to be somewhere in the Old Republic period?

More expansion of the Ronin's world is always very, very welcome... just give him an ongoing, please!

I thought Peach's newest Visions comic was awesome! There were a few moments that were a tad confusing, but I think I got the overall gist. Looking forward to Okazaki's comic, Marvel is knocking it out of the galaxy with these Star Wars ideas!

I feel like I missed the Visions issues and I’m like — how?

my comic shop for some reason doesn’t just let you say “pull all Star Wars titles.” You have to say which series. Which wasn’t how it worked before but whatever.

I did read the latest Visions comic but it’s nigh indecipherable without speech. But, it was a visual treat and after a little bit of analysis it makes a lot of sense.

For the placement lovers, it’s post-Empire, as the Imperial symbol is being worshipped as an iris to a Sith spirit. Possibly Palpatine I suppose(!)

Yeah I have to confess to being really confused with what was going on in the Peach Momoko Visions, especially since it didn't feel like the characters' actions entirely fit with the blurbs we got ahead of time, but it is very visually interesting and I am glad to see original visions outside of the shorts.

Very late to the party on reading Peach Momoko's Visions.

Without dialog I felt echoes of The Fourth Precept from Visionaries. Cool art. Can't comment much on the story; the lack of dialog makes me fill in the blank with characters for which we did receive dialog.

The Imperial wheel serving as a final echo of Darth Sidious or Darth Vader is my interpretation. Why this cult is on this backwater world but able to channel a Dark Lord is anyone's guess; this has been a common theme in Visions stories where the last vestige of the Sith appears to be in the middle of nowhere.

Ankok could be derived from the name Anakin.

Kako and Gel made me think of Ania Solo and AG-37. Since Kako is described as the descendant of a Sith commander, I'm naturally picturing her as a Skywalker-Solo of some kind.

If this occurs centuries after the deaths of the Imperial Sith lords, we're looking at a minimum date of 204ABY (from Vader and Sidious' first deaths) to 235ABY (from Sidious's canonical final death) to 245ABY (from my personal placement of Sidious's final One Canon death). Or, if you would like to picture the Sith Lord of this story as stemming from the spirit of Darth Krayt the final Sith Emperor, then its minimum date would be 338ABY.

I plan on filing this away in 204ABY, towards the tail end of the Legacy era. On my timeline, that actually postdates the Ronin novel. I feel as though the non-canon material for this era always paints it as somewhat desolate, almost post-apocalyptic. The Ninth Jedi and this story are similar in scope and aesthetic.

    Any particular reason?

The Visions Ninth Jedi timeline seems to suggest post-Legacy era is pretty desolate and New Sith Wars-like.
