Not seeing the end of the ESB comics in that link, unless it's a one-liner. Is it somewhere else? Sounds like Hidden Empire may wrap the block up.

It’s logical because of the 40th anniversary of RotJ coming, but they haven’t formally announced the end of the ESB line just yet.

So does this mean we'll get a few pinups of Oola or the other girls at Jabba's Palace?

    (Couldn't resist asking ;))

Mara Jade at Jabba's Palace variant cover, I pray for you!

If only to tease fans if she will be recanonised in there, which is unlikely lol.

But more seriously, the focus shift towards ROTJ anniversary gives me hope for good ROTJ content at Celebration in London. Both in the Artshow as well BTS panel section or with guests.

At Celebration i expect a point of view book for Return of the Jedi with its 40th Celebration, along with more ROTJ stories like these one shoot comics.

It doesn't actually say the post Return of the Jedi era is starting in that link. In the mainline comic they have
just discovered the existence of the second death star and would probably spend an arc or two planning the attack]
so I think there might still be another year left in the mainline comic before they get to RotJ

Marvel will probably do some double shipping.

If we are going more into ROTJ era, ESB era might soon need to end. One more year i think is good enough to end it. How many months has passed since beginning of ESB era of comics, in the timeline.

Sinre Edit: Can we not objectify women.

Mara aside, I am happy that we're getting more original trilogy content that is its own thing instead of being a tie-in to Disney or Filoni material; this will allow the comics to try some fun pulpy ideas like the original Marvel comics.

It's getting hard to tell - large but undefined swaths of time pass during both Crimson Reign #1 and Hidden Empire #1, making the timekeeping muddier than it already was. (Can't wait for that Timelines book next year!) I still think we're at least a few months out from ROTJ, though recent events in the mainline comic suggest we're definitely edging closer.

I think we might be in the 5-6 month of post ESB and 3 months away from ROTJ. ROTJ is between 9 months to a year. Luke Skywalker begins looking like his ROTJ counterpart.

That's more or less where my thinking was going as well. I can't say at the moment if that makes sense compared to the Aphra, Bounty Hunters, and Vader books, but the mainline comic has plenty of space for a time jump between issues 25 and 26, and again between 28 and 29, if needed.

I wonder how well these one-shots might fit or clash with the inevitable ROTJ FACPOV? Seems like they might be treading the same ground.

How did they decide where to start their ESB run? As if it was from the film end, that would render this one heading into very crowded territory.

Could see the main v2 books ending at 25, but think they might keep Aphra going.

Soule's 35 issues + 6 for Bounty Hunters event, 5 for Crimson Reign and 5 for Hidden Empire = 51 issue Omnibus.

Vader Pak - 35 issue omnibus

There's a second Aphra Omnibus covering 1-25, hence the idea they'll keep that one going. They could expand it I suppose, take it up to 35 issues.

It will be intresting to see how Aphra, her team Valance and his crew tie in with story of nearing ROTJ. Darth vader comic run could end with him subdued to Palpatine and govern over Death Star ll. Main comic run end with Luke as ROTJ starts and he builds his green lightsaber.

Given the uncertain canonicity of the FACPOV series, it could go either way - continuity might be tight, or there might be some conflict. If Story Group is on the ball, though, they should be able to avoid overlap - ROTJ definitely has enough background/side characters running around that both FACPOV and the one-shot series ought to be able to play nice with each other.

It really comes down to one question: Is Dave Filoni writing anything? [face_devil]

Filoni overwrites past canon and has Ahsoka kill Mon Mothma and go on to take over the Alliance. Who then was Mon Mothma in RotJ? That was Ahsoka disguised as Mon Mothma.

I hope we learn about the not-yet-named members of the Peculiar Hat Crew in the Point of View book, these comics, etc.

Maybe we get more of the one member of the hat crew who appears in Aftermath trilogy.

Not a fan of how the time between the OT movies has been handled in the comics. Not to say there haven't been good comics or stories. Just on the whole both eras have felt kind of meandering. I wish instead of regular ongoing these stories had been told in more structured mini series (or in more cleanly defined story arcs, maybe, in an ongoing). With things flowing back and forth between storylines and the wait in between each issue and all of the crossovers it gets to be a bit much.

I am curious to see what they do with the mainline series once they do end the ESB era, though.

It will probably continue to follow Luke, Leia, and Han. Though we have gotten several books in-between Jedi and Jakku the big three were not really apart of those books for the most part.

Yeah, the Daala knock-off who somehow managed to kill hundreds of rebels in her final stand because the Mon Calamari Cruisers didn't just open fire on the Tarkin's Will and obliterate it instead letting dozens of smaller craft get destroyed instead.
