So far both of the specials have been things that pretty directly appealed to me - a black & white retro horror/monster movie and a James Gunn-directed Guardians outing - but if the specials start becoming as regular as the movies and shows are now, I wouldn't be shocked if I eventually fall off of them and, like the shows now, start just picking and choosing what I watch rather than watching every single outing on release the way I used to.

It found a new director in Yann Demange, who directed Lovecraft Country.

The Mantis episode is back up now, no sign of the Drax episode. Deleted scene in the Mantis episode intact. Definitely should watch the GotG Holiday Special beforehand

I thought it was interesting in the holiday special to see Mantis has a bit of Peter’s personality traits. Either that is generic or from living with Ego.

Just heard a report on how newly returned from Russia Brittany Griner is going to go through the US’s POW rehabilitation program which is designed to reintroduce prisoners held hostage back into their regular lives.

Made me think of Iron Man and how Tony Stark dove directly into his public life. Not only did he do everything wrong - he no doubt contributed to his own PTSD.

That trauma which Tiny did not directly face seems to lead his character all the way through Infinity War. It’s not until after the snap that Tony finally takes time to see to stop and process what he’s been through.

Yah it is kinda telling that the first thing Tony says (after he gets his American Cheeseburger) and sits down at the impromptu press conference is, "I never got to say goodbye to my Dad."

Tony was always on a self destructive course but his experience as a prisoner Afghanistan both changed the trajectory of how he was self destructive and accelerated it.

And his inability to pause his life to think about and deal with the fallout of that experience is like falling dominos for all the other choices he makes

Great point about his dad. Tony goes on to make the hologram of his father.

But really it’s not until Tony is a parent that he steps off the out of control merry go round of his own creation.

Saw somebody mention the idea Henry Cavill as Wolverine. I could get behind that.

Have you heard Jackman talk about the physical rigors he's had to go though to film scenes like these? Nah. I dunno if Cavill is up for that on an ongoing basis.

Cavil will be ten years too old by the time they’d start a movie.

    Jackman is 32 in X-Men.

Right now the next Wolverine is in 20s.

That’s why I think the next Wolverine is in his 20 right now. Jackman can still play the role. It think the next Wolverine will be at least 20 years younger than Jackman. Then you have an actor who can play Logan for the long haul.

Whomever they recast as Wolverine, I hope he’s as feral looking as Hugh. Hugh looks like an animal-like Clint Eastwood.

I think Hugh will have a good time in the new Deadpool. But we need not worry about the new X-Men. IF Feige chooses the lady who played Kya from Crawdads Sing and Jodie Comer from The Last Duel we'll be set for a badass, nuanced X-Men trilogy on par with some good ass Star Trek writing.
