Studio Ghibli Confirms Its Mysterious Lucasfilm Project Is Happening

It doesn't necessarily mean that it'll turn out to be future episodes of Visions, but considering the series has welcomed artists from all over the world, it wouldn't be surprising. Now that would be pretty spectacular!

 

There was a mention, way back when season 2 was announced that we’re plans for non-visions anime in the pipeline. It’d be cool if this was referring to that, as opposed to just a single short.

 

If I saw a Totoro Ghibli logo in advance of a Visions episode I think I'd flip.

 

Kathleen Kennedy and Dave Filoni apparently visited the Japanese animation studio, Production IG.
IG produced Visions The Ninth Jedi last year.

So far they have not visited any animation studios that have participated in Visions outside of IG.

A sequel may be in the works at volume 3 or something completely new. Volume 2 is already done, by now.

Edit: Looks like they had dinner with the IG staff. I don't know if they had a meeting.

 

Here I thought they were in Japan for the studio Ghibli thing. Seems like anime star wars is on the rise, and I for one can't wait to see where they go.

 

I’ve been seeing visions toys on the shelf at Target lately. Not sure how long these have been available.

I'm sure Kathleen and Dave never had to tell the IG animation units to stand down, because they're very well-behaved.

I heard it was shown somewhere? Hope there is at least a description soon somewhere.

In any case, it is exciting to hear that the trailer exists, since that means the production has progressed well.

 

By far the best Star Wars animated project. Not even close.

Its fine but not as good as other animation.

 

I think it varies greatly from short to short.

 

Oh nice, that is pretty soon. We had heard so little I was worried it had been pushed back. Hope we get a trailer soon!

I am far from an animation expert, but this looks like a solid line up of studios.

I am particularly excited about Cartoon Saloon being here - I have loved everything of theirs that I have seen, and I felt that their whole approach to storytelling feels appropriate to star wars, so they were the top spot on my wishlist when I heard Visions was going global.

Also shout out to Studio Mir who has produced some really gorgeous animation in the past, so that short should be a visual treat at the very least. Though admittedly the title "Journey to the Dark Head" makes me scratch my own head.

Speaking of titles...well, no synopsis for any of them, so just the titles to go for trying to guess what the story's are about, but other than "I am your mother" feeling parodic, it is not a lot to work with. Still, Screecher's Reach, The Spy Dancer, The Bandits of Golak, and Aau's Song are all giving me vibes that intrigue me.

Cool surprise for SW Day. Was hoping we’d get a Studio Ghibli Grogu crossover. All good though.
