Nothing new to say? That is presuming a lot. It is possible a fan will discover something not discussed before.

One aspect about TPM I didn’t like was Coruscant felt small. In AOTC its grand and we see a lot of the lower city as well as the upper echelons, and in ROTS we see less than AOTC, but it still feels like a massive city planet. Something about how Coruscant was filmed in TPM makes it feel like B movie stage with green screen. This is in start contrast to Naboo.

Did you see it on the big screen? I've never heard this one before.

Yes four times in theaters. I’m just saying it felt small, like Senate Chamber, Apartment, and Jedi Temple.

One could argue that it's absurd to say that there's nothing new to say. Arguably, anything that can be said about anything that's well known by the public has already been said, let alone with a fanbase as large scale as Star Wars, so I think it's kinda pointless to say that there's nothing new to say. It doesn't mean there aren't new people who may want to discuss or say it, and it doesn't make it so it's not healthy for people to keep discussing it.

I've said my piece. I don't need people to agree with me. I guess I'm just very tired of "hey, you all checked out this Phantom Menace thing? You get a load of this? Check this **** out" takes. TPM must rank high on the list of films most picked apart by critics and the public. I get it if you're just coming to it, but I don't think most of the people in this thread are. I can't stand JJ Abrams's Star Trek (or Star Wars) movies, but I've moved on from them. I don't keep talking about them, and choose not to engage with discourse about them. That's just me. You do you.

Darth Maul's exit. I feel he had a lot more to offer in the following films.

Had Yoda not introduced the Rule of Two.. sigh, we could have had three Sith, in the Prequel Trilogy: Lord Sidious, Lord Tyranus, and Lord Maul. Then Palpatine adding Vader as the fourth would just make sense.

That was the point. It wouldn't make sense to wander off track in this film, as opposed to AOTC.

Exploring Naboo underwater wasn’t off track?

Yes, since that is where the Gungans are and it allows the Jedi to get to Theed undetected. Narratively speaking, it doesn't make sense to travel away from the Senate and the Temple. Sure, introducing the Works would have been justified, but showing the Sith in Palpatine's office sets up the big reveal.

My point was that the filming of Coruscant in TPM makes it feel small.

I know I'm a whole year late to this thread but to be honest, I've never been crazy about midichlorians. I understand why George included it, but I think it was a bit unnecessary.

Tonally it was quite a shock. Up until that movie, we'd had the EU to entertain us and that had been written by adults for adults. TPM was closer in tone to the old Marvel comic strip than, say, Heir to the Empire. It had a cartoon character and cartoon battle and felt as if it belonged in a completely different franchise than ESB.
That aside, the script was boring. There were lots of opportunities to up the stakes and the drama, but Lucas missed them. The dialogue was terrible and so was the acting.
Apart from world-building, the movie sucked as, not just a SW movie, but as a movie in general.
