agreed. This is by far the worst Mando episode ever imho.

it started and ended well but in between it was a bad Andor episode.

    Pershing seemed to emulate Cyril

    Bo Katan is amazing.

What a change of pace. I honestly quite liked this episode. Dr. Pershing has to be one of m favourite characters on this show. I really liked seeing his building frustrations working within the New Republic. It was also fascinating seeing how the New Republic isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. It really makes the politics of the era seem more interesting.

While this episode doesn’t necessarily match the quality of Andor, I found it to be visually quite impressive. It was nice to see so much of Coruscant in a live-action production. It is probably the best the planet has looked since the PT. I also liked how Pershing was sold out at the end. It was a nice twist I didn’t see coming. Pershing seems like a sympathetic guy who is only trying to do what he feels is right so seeing him double crossed at the end was a pretty awesome twist. So far this is probably my favourite episode of the season. It’s certainly not as epic as episode 2 but it really seems to fill in some of the story and slow things down a bit from the first two episodes.

Nothing quite like the visual of Coruscant at night.

I thought this was excellent. The insight we got into the New Republic was really interesting, and fleshes out the Post-ROTJ GFFA nicely. And actually making a character out of Pershing (and Gideon's first officer for that matter) was great.

I really don't see the lack of production value someone mentioned above - this is the best Coruscant has ever looked in my opinion; even better than in Andor.

And just the fact that we got New Republic era Coruscant made me so happy. And Monument Plaza and Umate of all places! [face_love]

I'm more than pleased with this episode; I think that -- upon rewatch -- it might become one of my favorites.

I thought it was pretty fascinating. First episode to really give us a taste of what the New Republic is like post ROTJ. And so interesting to see how they're attempting, and failing, to integrate former Imperials.

I'm intrigued by the plan to doublecross Pershing. Is she trying to wipe his memories so she can control him? She seems like an agent for Gideon, or the First Order. If she wipes his memories completely, then perhaps the Imperials are trying to hide something? Hm.

Also having Bo-Katan interact with the Armorer and the Covert is also fascinating. The season is really focused on telling a much larger, more coherent story than ever before, and I love it.

I’m pretty sure they replicated the shot in Episode III of Padme’s apartment here. And seeing Galaxies Opera House on top of that made this one of my favorites. Everything else was just gravy. Amazing!

I bet those are Thrawn’s forces that attacked Kalevala.

If a TIE Defender shows up next time we can be sure of it.

A very dumb nitpick I have with this episode was how they jumped the turnstile on the subway, implying a swiping system like real life NYC subway, but then they boarded and there were also conductor droids collecting tickets.

More Plagueis/Snoke/Sith music in one scene with Katy O'Brien's character...

Speaking of Plagueis, cool to see that opera house again during Pershing's TED talk.

The "Dark science, cloning, etc." theme (as I'm calling it), plus the mysterious mass of TIE bombers have me very intrigued.

You could almost see Bo-Katan’s look of disgust through her helmet while the Armorer tells her she has been redeemed and is now one of them. Good luck keeping her helmet on the rest of the season.

Did I recognize the Baskin Robbins guy from Ant-Man during the office scenes? Peyton Reed must have hooked him up?

edit: I think I’m wrong here.

I think that's certainly the implication. Could be a clever way to create more of a throughline for all three trilogies.

I loved that episode, so many twists in it. I too agree those imperials are definitely connected to you know who. It is interesting to speculate what Gideon's right hand woman's game is. It is interesting to think about where this show is going and what seeing that mythosaur has done to Bo Katan. When she said she hadn't removed her helmet, I was like, you know what, she hasn't. I can speculate where this is going but I love the fact I don't know.

I was fully expecting Gideon to have some sort of crazy underground base hidden in the decommissioning yard

Don't know about NYC, but plenty of public transportation have swiping systems, as well as random ticket checks. There's really nothing out of the ordinary there.

In my experience in life, you get ticket checks by conductors on nice, seated metro trains, and you swipe your metro card to enter a subway system where you fight crackheads.

The overall setup of the train was made to look just like a NY subway car, I’m not really sure about other cities. But the conductor just threw me for a loop. As I said, it’s a dumb criticism. :p

Also, the day they mentioned is "Taungsday", which apparently was a Legends thing already, but still thought that was an interesting choice given the Taungs' part in the history of Mandalorians.

    Edit: "Benduday" too

I loved it! It seems the New Republic is more evil then we thought and seeing Coruscant in all it's Beautiful glory was nice. I also wonder if the Cloning technology has anything to do with cloning Palpatine the Emperor's theme played in the Dr. Pershing apartment scene...

It’s like how we have Thursday to honor the god of Thunder among people who pillaged our ancestors!

It looks just like every subway I've ever been on (multiple cities in multiple countries), and all of them have random ticket checks.

    Or are our ancestors. :p

Not what I was expecting but I liked it.

The New Republic is creepy. It was actually easy to root for the ex-Imp. And it was done in the classic Star Wars style where you can have serious protaganists in dark stories that aren't killjoys.

It's clear now that BOBF and BB are not anomalies. Even the Mandalorian will occasonally be the guest star on his own show.

"It's the end of the train!"

Confirmed that Ric Olie is Dr. Pershing's father.
