I wonder how many imperial remnants there could be out there.

As many as the plot requires.

I’m not going to lie, I have thought more than once that the whole notion of manipulating the Mando clan-culture/election-by-Darksaber was very much from

    Thrawn’s playbook.

Though the timing might not allow for that to be the case.

I'm heading in that direction too, but as you say, does the timing work?

Hmm, Thrawn may have been off the board for Mandalore but did he have any proteges in the Imperial Navy?

So, regarding the "Mitigator" that Pershing thinks is a Mind Flayer. I get that the Mon Calamari officer says that at low voltages it can soothe traumatic memories. And I get that its only recently been authorized for usage in rehabilitation. And the officer himself mentions that he has used it on himself and it made him feel better. Clearly, in the scene, before the voltage is turned up, it is having a soothing effect on Pershing based on his initial reaction. But why is it possible to turn up the dial to the point where it becomes painful? Surely that is more than a design bug.

Different species require different base voltages to have the desired effect? Not that there are many non-human imperials to deprogram. It's a little clumsy.

There’s some (deliberate) ambiguity about whether
Faro was with Thrawn during the Lothal finale. Though I’m inclined to think she was probably aboard the Chimaera when it got pulled away.

Though it could also be that Palpatine had Thrawn work as the equivalent of a profiler for their Mandalore campaign and Gideon or whoever was working off his notes.

We’ll see where this all goes, but I’m hoping this season we get a greater look at how the imperial remnant operates. If there is any kind of hierarchy of power or if it’s just squabbling factions.

I love that March of the Resistance is the tune for the carnival music there in Monument Plaza. Haha

That mind flayer at use by the New Republic is not a good look. It's really weird seeing a Mon Cal as sinister, and this episode had a few that bothered me. The sycophantic mucky muck Mon Cals glad handing Pershing, and then the guy working the machine. Yikes.

I don't think that's what was happening at all

Not 100% certain of her motives but
she's definitely not working for the NR IMO

Trips me out how much she looks like she could be a younger Jango clone. It's probably just the hair.

It's odd that New Republic Coruscant is absent security guards and finger-wagging droids.

We got both in this episode, what are you talking about :p

I thought it was a great episode. A little clunky, but fascinating and enjoyable. Stuff to actually talk about. Integrating into the rest of the EU. Actually showing us the New Republic in-depth.

    Was a good episode

Bo joining the way is interesting. I wonder where that will go.

The NR is, interesting. I get them disarming quickly and wanted to remove all imp traces, but I think they are rushing and it is leading to mistakes.

So safety regs must just not exist in Star Wars, between the mind scrambler device with no oversight.

    Wonder if
Taungsday mentioning is a small build-up for recanonization of Taungs as original Mandalorians in this season.

That was a really neat episode of Andor worked into about 80 percent of this week's episode of Mandalorian

Question: with the ear rub being Pershing’s little mannerism for when he is about to lie, why lie about why he got into cloning? And what part of it was the lie? Why include it at all?

tangent - Does anyone think we’ll get a mention of Bo’s nephew (and probably Obi-wan and Satine’s secret love child that she hid from him? I mean they based Corkie’s face on Ewan, and we don’t know his parents)

I saw a suggestion that the ear thing might be him recalling the events of the Season 2 finale, when Cara Dune (or Mando, can't remember) shot that Imperial pilot who was holding Pershing hostage. It could be maybe that was the moment Pershing decided to change sides (he seems earnest about his change of heart) and is rubbing his ear to remind himself why he's here, that he's still alive and been given a second chance, etc.

It could also be a tell though, since he rubs it when telling the droid he didn't feel any resentment towards the NR when he clearly did. Which means he was probably lying when he gave that story about his mother, probably to hide the real reason he got into cloning because the truth would get him into trouble (from either the NR or any Imperial agents that could be hiding and ready to assassinate him in case he gave away too much).

Crazy idea, but what if the Sith beasts from the unfinished clone wars arc are still under the jedi temple and they wake up this season and so Din will need to ride the Mythasaur to fight it and save coruscant.

The Mon Calamiri using the mind freyer and the Twi’lek that she’s standing with aren’t working for the New Republic?

Yes but they clearly weren't in on her scheme. She waited for them to leave before turning the dial up and "flaying" Pershing's mind, presumably counter to the intention of those NR doctors

How did she “set Pershing up” if she didn’t tell the NR of her plan to lure him to the Star Destroyer?

She’s a double (triple?) agent. Pretending to be with the NR while secretly working for Gideon.

Either she turned up the mind flayer to deliberately torture him with the intent to have him believe the NR are evil and then willingly return to Gideon’s service, or she destroyed his brain completely so that he couldn’t reveal any more cloning secrets.

Apparently some general audiences aren't connecting the dots between this episode and the previous cloning mentions in the show, specifically around Pershing, and the other shows that Mandalorian is very intimately tied to(TCW and Rebels) and the upcoming Ahsoka.

Seems pretty clear to me that all of this is tied to Grand Admiral Thrawn and ultimately the First Order and Sith Eternal. Pershing even mentioned "casts" at one point. Which is obviously an abbreviation of strand cast.
