Full Series The Bad Batch 2.16 - Plan 99 (Season Finale!!!) - Discussion Thread (Spoilers Allowed)

Hoping for "The 99 Samurai" and not "Plan 99 from Outer Space".

 

Utterly predictable. When the Marauder was crippled, it was so obvious they'd make their escape with 99 luftballons.

 

The Emperor has 99 plans, but the Batch ain't one.

 

The utter chaos and confusion of no one knowing what to do when Palapatine said execute order 99 instead of 66 because he read it upside down was a pretty funny twist but has massive future implications since all the Jedi returned on Clone Force 99’s left.

 

I didn't expect to see a whole episode dedictaed to Hunter's bandana turning out to be a monster.

 

I loved the ending where the Bad Batch reunited and went to a toy shop and bought a bag of toy balloons and proceeded to let them all fly loose that evening.

 

I honestly wasn’t expecting Kyle Katarn to step out of the portal at the end and look dead at the viewer and say “Kathleen Kennedy has been fired from Lucasfilm” before immediately cutting to a live reaction of SW Theory crying.

 

It was Snoke the entire time. Even on the Clone Wars the bandana was Snoke.

 

This was my favourite Star Wars season since Rebels.

 

Well that was interesting. I am not sure what to think yet, need a second rewatch. At least the commandos got their proper weapons back. The fact that they were using regular carbines instead of DC-17m for two seasons drove me nuts. Now it's been rectified. Wasted opportunity not to include the entire Delta Squad on Ord Mantell, it was only Scorch again.

I hope we won't have to wait another season for 2 more years like with this one.

It's a small quick scene, but Echo mournfully looking over at Tech's pilot seat really got me.

I have to give them credit, I think everyone expected a Taniss showdown, to have the mission go completely **** up before they even get there and to lose that badly in every way is not at all what I expected.

The Batches reaction to Tech's death in general, the raw despondence of it all worked real well.

Small bright side, now that AZI is offically part of the crew, there is a chance we get something between him and Echo about Fives. I imagine something like tinkering with him leads to him recovering his memories of the Order 66 arc.

Which has alot of story telling potential, because if Echo ever finds out that Nala Sa is very directly responsible for Fives death, that would make the inevitable confronation when they go to rescue Omega and Crosshair spicy in the best way.

Solid ass final, I remember people being a bit disappointed that S1's finale ended with the status quo intact, this completely obliterates it, maybe the most bleak ending a SW cartoon season has ever had.

I don't see anyway Mando S3 ever tops this, not on quality of writing. So excited for season 3

 

I liked everything in this episode, but I really don’t like the constant Snoke teasing across everything. I’m not even a sequel hater, but if the ultimate endgame of the Disney plus content is “all roads lead back to SNOKE!”… well, I really don’t see the appeal to be honest. I think Snoke is best left in the 2010’s, and we don’t need to devote years of watching to justify a stupid JJ Abrams plot development in Rise of Skywalker.

We still barely know anything about Mount Tantiss, and it’s been two years since the first tease. And even that ties into Gideon’s cloning project first teased three or four years ago on The Mandalorian. So… it’s all going to be a decade long build up to… Supreme Leader Snoke going out like a moron, again?

 

Hopefully they're hard at work on the third season, I'll be there to watch it!
This finale was what I should've expected, but didn't want to think about. I have a feeling Tech might be alive still, thought dead like Echo was.
We all anticipated Omega being introduced to her brother...who would've thought she had a sister?

 

Look at that all the little “filler episodes” did pay off in the end. Not just with Cid betraying the Batch but also with Tech’s sacrifice. Had we not had such great character development for him this year his death wouldn’t have meant nearly as much. But damn that hurt.

 

It was one of the best season finales among animated series. So much happened, but brilliantly delivered. I can't wait for the third season.

 

An excellent finale to an excellent season. I’m also glad that the cloning stuff on Mount Tantiss hasn’t been fully resolved yet. Bring on season 3!

 

They got their Kanan moment out of the way early this time. Really nice ambushing of the viewer too since one doesn't expect to see an event like in that the first ten minutes of an episode.

 

This was an abosultely excellent finale and probably the bleakest finale of an animated show yet. Tech's death and Omega's capture were really gut punch moments but Hunter and Wrecker now have all the motivation they need to finally get properly involved in the fight and they didn't even need to wipe out Pabu for it.

The reveal that the good Doctor is indeed a clone and even Omega's sister was also quite intriguing. I do however think that Nala Se is not supposed to work on Snoke but instead on cloning Palpatine. I'm pretty sure what we're seeing here is the start of Palpatine's contingency.

Hemlock also truly enters the cast of memorable Star Wars villains and with him instead of Rampart, who thankfully really seems to be gone for good, the show finally has a decent villain.

Overall 10/10 and really looking forward to Season 3 and hoping they don't take another 2 years to make that one.

 

I don't think he's dead. I expect he is being experimented on as well.

 

I really hope not. I love Tech but it would completely cheapen the finale if he somehow survived. He sacrificed himself for his brothers. It happens. What makes it all the more tragic is he clearly wanted to say something to Phee but couldn’t find the words. Things left unsaid.

 

I hope so too but...

 

Fantastic double feature.

Sid looking uncomfortable was some good emotive animation.

Were those Snoke 1.0 attempts in the tubes?

This season ended up a sun total positive. Interesting where this ended.

 

Great finale. This is the Bad Batch way. Much better than season 1, in the end.

 

Yeah there were some episodes that ultimately seemed a waste of time but overall, it was a good season and anything empire was excellent, I really wish that they focused on the empire stuff all season.

Why did they go to Cid though and not back to Pabu? I feel like I missed something there.
