Karga knows that the reason Din likes and trusts IG11 is because of its protection of Grogu. The rest is a surprise present from someone in influence. People assume they know what’s best for others and buy gifts related to that all the time in life. I even know people like that in my real life. It’s not hard to imagine Karga thinking he’s doing him a favor. Even if he didn’t ask. I think the addition of the Coruscant liquor prior was a nice touch because we also haven’t seen Din drink liquor at all either. So that’s two things Karga offered that Din didn’t ask for at first. Make it 3 if you include the land. It’s just in keeping with Karga’s developing character.

As far as the practicality of the mech suit… in theory once he’s got it down it should be able to function similarly to a droid that was a renown bounty hunter. Anything that IG11 would do to get out of or into a situation should be at the disposal of Grogu and since Grogu has the force he can probably lift himself and the mech suit up as needed and then climb or use vehicles the way IG11 would have. They may also have the option of making upgrades to IG12 along the way in future seasons. Including a Jetpack. Sort of like how Din got weapons upgrades in S1.

That was a pretty cool when he stopped the fight. I agree though, he has to have it for a reason. I guess we'll see this week.

Can we just admit that this episode has more repeat viewing value than any episode in recent memory. **** was rad, gang.

It’s even better than that. It’s allowed for repeat viewing of the IG11 sacrifice scene, the first appearance of Bo Katan and crew with Din, the hologram scene with Pershing explaining earlier clone subjects that failed, and even revisiting how Nevarro was before it changed. It’s the kind of episode that has connective tissue back to a lot of previous moments and makes me almost want to rewatch the entire series again to see if anything seen prior feels different now, knowing where the story goes [face_laugh]

I realize they were thinking of the "mech" mostly in terms of mobility and rudimentary communication, but I kept thinking some kind of retractable blast shield over the pilot would be SUPER helpful given how often Mando gets into gunfights, etc, with Grogu in tow!

Agreed but they also want to keep him visible. I suppose he can use the force to stop some shots directly at him or rotate the torso backward from action, use the force to sense enemies, and then rotate the 360 degree weapons IG12 has to take people out. One of the cool things about IG11 is how many aspects of it can rotate. It’s its defining design characteristic and honestly it’s pretty awesome. In fact, I’m really looking forward to seeing Grogu master his rotation ability for cool combat moments. [IMG]

    Watched this again.

The Mandos they met on the surface… I’m thinking there is a 50/50 chance they work for Gideon and the Empire. If so the Armorer might not be taking starving refugees to the mandos’s captured imperial light cruise, they could be a special forces team posing as starved Mandos sent to take back Gideon’s ship.

They might even be actual Mandalorians but ones who work for Gideon. If they are real Mandos collaborating with Gideon it’s also possible they will switch sides now that death isn’t the only option if they defy Gideon.

There is a lot set up for the next episode.

Lol. There are like five of those people, and they look like they are actually starving to death. I thought I couldn’t think of a dumber plot point than the Armorer being a traitor, but this one is worse.

If there’s a Mando traitor (and I’m not convinced there is) the only candidate I could accept is Axe Woves. But even that is a little thin, given past events.

Agreed , @dick rodgers. I’ve watched it 4 times now. The other eps this season I’ve only rewatched once.

Nitpick, but how did that feast with all the Mandalorians work anyways? The show literally made it a specific point that the Children of the Watch all go eat by themselves so no one can see their faces just a few episodes ago,

They did say prepare a feast FOR them, not WITH them.

Simple. The Mando guests eat. The feast was for them. Indeed, the CotW remained masked while the creatures were roasting on a spit. So the implication is that they just awkwardly watched Bo’s night owls eat.

There’s a lot of really basic continuity errors on this show that irk me.

in this one, Gideon walks down the long laser hallway straight to the door for the Shadow Council chamber, but the next shot has a cave wall right behind him when he walks in.

The same issue arises with almost spy: Why would Gideon be surprised by their teaming up? Unless for some reason he knew and wanted to keep Kane out of the loop, keep his spies separate.

There's a nonzero chance the topic won't even be brought up in the finale. There's a lot to wrap up in 40 minutes. And I have a soft spot for fandom chaos, so I think that would be hilarious subversion of expectations.

The finale will be Din defeating Gideon at that board game using the Children of the Watch rules.

Just because it might seem dumb doesn't mean it won't happen. After all somehow Palpatine returned. I won't be surprised if one of the refugees is a spy though as it's been said before I also not going to be shocked if there is NOT a second spy.

This is what I expect. It would be a huge missed opportunity not to have Grogu go super mecha-Grogu.

Isn't Grogu's floating stroller more maneuverable then a janky IG-12 mech suit? As somebody else pointed out, Grogu wouldn't have been able to save Din when he was trapped if Grogu was in the mech suit instead of his floating egg shaped thingy.

His stroller doesn't function as an offensive and defensive weapon though. And the IG provides maneuverability that the pod can't -- you already saw what Grogu can use the hands for.

The mecha suit, beyond its story uses, is also a benefit for the storytellers. It allows them to make Grogu more of an agent who takes part actively in more events.
