He's muttering his frustrations in Spanish, I believe. Miquel seems pretty ticked in all footage in the sequel, I guess getting stuck in a pointing contest with 60s Spider-Man will do that to you.

Let's have him meet his MCU Marc Spector variants, that could be gold!

B is referencing Miles having a terrible teacher (himself, B), as 2099 brought up MCU Peter/Strange as an addendum to why Miles couldn't join them.

I thought it was "no puede pasar" (it can't happen) the first time, but trying to listen to it more slowly it's "no puedo" (I can't) with some other word I can't make out.

Across the Spider-Verse trailer beats first 24 hour views of either Guardians of the Galaxy V3 or Flash, most viewed 2023 summer superhero flick.

It is definitely going to pass the 384 worldwide of the first film, I'm guessing. Also factor in some residual leftover No Way Home/mutliverse of Spider-Men goodwill and viewers knowing more about the concept than even when Into the Spider-Verse came out.

Meaningless statistic, YouTube clicks are free and movie tickets aren’t. But not a bad sign.

It seems the Spot being the villain was just a red herring from earlier. It seems Spider-man 2099 is the real villain.

Also, as much as I understand Miles going “I’m going to do things my way” can be relatable… every time a Spider-man has tried to do that, it has ended in tragedy, and with them relearning sacrifice and how with great power comes great responsibility.

And I’ve got to say, older me seeing so many students, and so many young adults I’ve mentored or supervised, deciding “screw this, I’m going to do things my way” has almost always led to them all doing the same exact thing, and learning the hard way what the others were trying to give advice on or warn about… and then they become the people who try to give that advice, rinse and repeat. There are some for whom it works out different, either because they actually listened to mentors and those who came before and learned from them, or just sheer luck.

So you're saying Spider-Man is the bad guy? JJJ was right all along, he's a menace!

Bringing back Spider-Man 2099 to make him villainous seems at best really cheap, gratuitously antagonistic to his fans, a film shouldn't have to put down others to build Miles up.

The villian should be Terry McGinnis - Batman Beyond - not Miguel O’Hara - Spidey 2099. Just slap a bat emblem over the spider emblem.

PS - Since DC was ripping off Spidey 2099 why not go all the way and give him a cool bi-lingual name. Weak they pulled their punches and just made him Scots American.

I am guessing Miquel may have a lethal solution to deal with Spot or something (from teaser #2 Gwen - "We are supposed to be the good guys." Spider-Man 2099 - "We are.") Or Miles has to let a loved one perish which he won't abide by. I just hope the Spider-chase and Miles declaration of going his own way isn't the 3rd act climatic fight that just got spoiled and thats the ending. (Or maybe I'm still traumatized by the Ant-Man 3 trailer giving away the whole movie)

I'm thinking Miguel is not the bad guy here - since there is a part II to this Spidey story. (Then again, when I think of the Spot, I think of Mark Waid's Daredevil run and how Matt mopped the floor with the Spot in the first issue, and then Matt had his head handed to him when the Spot was eventually controlled by the Coyote in order to muck with DD.)

So I'm wondering if the Spot makes Miguel look like the bad guy in the first film, and both Miguel and Miles have their day in part II.

Just watched this scene in the 90s cartoon, it's like a Beta version of the Dafoe scene (there's a lot of the animated series bits that pop up in the Raimi films and even in the first Venom movie, the symbiotes hijacking bodies to get where they're going was in TAS)

TAS MJs outfit is a bit of an eyesore I always thought
    [IMG]

Like so much going on here, mustard yellow sweater, purple turtleneck, (is she warm under there?) jeans and cowboy boots. Isn't she supposed to be a fashion model? Of course I always think of MJ with the "Face it tiger, you just hit the jackpot" black cocktail dress

The Symbiote did hijack people before the 90’s cartoon. It first did it after escaping from the Baxter Building, in order to find Peter. It did so again during "Invasion Of The Spider Slayers", along with a variety of others using people.

I thought Spider-Man 3 would have been more convincing if the symbiont had to seek out Spider-Man instead of crashing to Earth yards away from where Peter and MJ were on a date.

Have the symbiont pass to different people - each time to someone stronger. Then it bumps into Peter and knows it found the powerful host it’s been looking for. .

Across the Spider-Verse promo art, my favourite is the Ben Riley and Spider-Gwen pieces but I'll always love Ben Riley and Spider-Gwen. I also love how the art style for the Spider-People is distinct which is huge considering how many there are

That's another retcon via the cartoon. The Symbiote mimics the strength of the first host and passes it on. Eddie inherited Peter's strength and then Carnage inherited the both of them. As to how, given that "Secret Wars" was not being adapted, what was done in both universes was the next most logical thing.

Love the show, like the character portrayal in it including her hair but with all my nostalgia present the outfit is still just, feeling generous, OK.

Do they have the Spider-Verse row on Disney Plus USA? D+ recommends it to me all the time due to my constant Spider-Man cartoon watching. Speaking of which I have to watch at least the first two episodes of Spider-Man Unlimited because he's in Across the Spider-Verse (You can see him in the first meme shot in the trailer in between Insomniac Spider-Man and another one)

When Homecoming is added it gets added to the MCU timeline and Phase 3 row. Also I just watched 2007s Ghost Rider on D+ which is a Sony movie so it could get added soon as well

Is this Spidey spinning a permanent web at D+ or is that a temporary tie in for June’s Spiderverse movie.

the first spider verse film is not on D+ here in the US unfortunately

I haven't seen it since it was taken off Netflix a couple years ago

Sony movies tend to bounce around various streaming services and I don't see why the Sony Spider-content would be removed from D+ anytime soon.

Trying to find one streamer with all the Spider-stuff is another thing entirely though! I think for a minute there Netflix had all of them. As it currently stands in Canada the 3 Raimi and 2 ASM movies are on 1) Disney Plus 2) Crave 3) Netflix (it tends to disappear every once in awhile, they were on Amazon Prime Canada about a year ago). 4) Rewind channel and TLN on cable tends to show the Raimi Spider-Man movies once a month. Homecoming is currently on Disney Plus and Crave. Netflix has exclusively Venom, Far From Home and Into the Spider-Verse. Amazon Prime has Venom: Let There Be Carnage, Morbius and No Way Home. But they are all there, and for some of them you can just have your pick of your streaming service to watch them.

Interestingly, with the 4 films being added to D+ USA I noticed on D+ on the PS5 the QuickLaunch options at the PS5 video menu has Spider-Man and Amazing Spider-Man added (Spider-Man took the #1 Quick Launch spot from Mandalorian on D+ app!). And the Spider-Verse row suddenly got much larger and more prominent this weekend! I'd wager this is D+'s biggest release for this specific weekend.

Speaking of Spider-Verse content, I watched the first two episodes of Spider-Man: Unlimited. It is pretty out there. It really seems like they wanted to make a Spider-Man 2099 series but didn't fully commit to it (and having both Spidey 2099 and Spider-Man Unlimited in Across the Spider-Verse could get confusing if they're in the same shot). John Jameson's ship gets hijacked by Carnage and Venom and ends up on Counter-Earth, so Spidey (in a fancy new not Miguel's suit but close enough) goes there (after a quick talking-to from Nick Fury who lets him go). And the High Evolutionary (making this good pre GotGV3 viewing) has all of his animal people on the top levels while the humans live in the slums bottom levels (which oddly kind of reminds me more of Maestro and Future Imperfect). Also the character designs look a lot like Avengers: United They Stand as sort of anime inspired influence. Anyway, I'm sure Spider-Man Unlimited won't have a huge role in Across the Spider-Verse aside from a few shots but interesting to see this take. I think I saw it once years ago and was sort of disappointed it didn't fit into the 90s series (amongst other things) but taking the Spider-Verse route, hey, why not, go crazy.

Dr. President Ron Paul would like a word with you, sir.

I never saw the ending of this, but it was very tonally weird coming on the heels of Spiderman: TAS. So many decisions were just "Why?" And most of all, The High Evolutionary is just an insane idea. I don't know why Marvel keeps trying to force this into stuff.
