    You talked here about Emu war and Erzsébet Báthory when I was not online?... too bad I missed that. Very fascinating topics indeed. In case of Báthory however I wouldn't believe all stories are 100 percent true as they are, but sure they are both horrifying and interesting.
    Emu war was devastating emu victory but still many emus died. A quiet moment for the victims of that conflict...

    The thing with Bathory is that the true stories are infinitely worse than the urban mythology later subscribed to her. The 4 servant testimonies were obviously given under great duress but there is a damning amount of notarized testimony from eyewitnesses and the girl who survived and was given land for her trouble (and missing skin) that really makes the actual activity far more gruesome than the inflated body count and legends of bath tubs filled with blood. On a visit to Csjethe Castle I met a historian who really broke down the various court documents. It's a mad bit of history, that.
