Gaming Star Wars: Outlaws (Ubisoft) [Mod Approved]

Outside of the MMO games like TOR games and the space games like Squadrons, when has there ever been a legit SW game where a non-Force user was the lead protagonist? Frankly, I wouldn't mind if they didn't give the lead character in this new game Force powers. Have her be more like what Han would be like if he had his own game.

X-wing Alliance (Yes, you technically can name your pilot anything, but you are always referred to as Ace Azzameen)
Force Commander (No, it's not referring to the Force. Somewhat ironically, the lead in this game, Brenn Tantor, also voiced Kyle Katarn)
Bounty Hunter (Jango)
EA's Battlefront II (Iden Versio)

Rogue Squadron 2: Rogue Leader and 3: Rebel Strike are a little weird, as you start out playing as Luke, but about halfway through Wedge takes over (not including side/bonus-missions).

 

Racer when you play as the JCC approved True Protagonist(TM):

 

Pour one out for Rhys Dallos, Unsung Ace Pilot of Bravo Squadron.

 

Dang, Battle for Naboo. Forgot that one.

 

Let me rephrase what I said before; have there been any SW games in the past, say decade - especially single player ones, where the protagonist wasn't a Force user? Even though I did like her character, I can't really count Iden Versio since the story mode of BF2 wasn't the selling point of the game.

 

Considering there have been only like 5 games in the past decade mostly in part thanks to Disney and EA's mismanagement of the IP, no.

Unless you count the Lego games, but that's involving another entire IP.

 

Squadrons right? None of the pilots are force sensitive

@Ahsoka's Tano if your going to say Squadrons or the VR games don’t count as they weren’t fully priced or something then yes your correct but that’s because only 6 games that were fully priced games have come out since the Disney purchase and only 4 of those are not Lego games. And only 3 of those actually have a story. And only two of those are about a force user at least as a main character. But that’s so specific it ruins the whole point of this exercise

Trailer looks promising.
The shot of Kay standing at the 2 minute mark looks like Kijimi, and the shot right after with the (I’m guessing) crime boss standing looks like Canto Bight.

The scene where she runs out of the cantina, I wonder what planet that is… I was thinking maybe Tatooine until I saw the grass.

 

Indeed. I want it to be good, but there’s not much to go on right now.

 

Take the original fallen order cinematic trailer. It gave off a more mysterious vibe than the game did. And the game itself turned out completely differently. We’ll get more of a picture today with a gameplay reveal

 

I’m hoping the gameplay we see is pretty much BG&E2 but Star Wars, that sense of scale, an “open world” game where the entire planet is truly open and not just that but whole star systems. For any who haven’t seen it before, here was the old tech demo, and keep in mind this was 4 years ago, so the tech Ubisoft has been working on since then has only gotten better. The good part starts at around 13min mark:

 

I liked how that one alien was from a galaxy a long Long Island ago.

 

I really like the look of that.

Sure, there's some familar UbiSoft mechanics in there but the space flight and combat looks a bit different. Dialogue and decision choices. All boosted by smart design and tapping into the SW aesthetic.

 

Gameplay trailer was impressive, although it felt more like a proof of concept than a true vertical slice. The main question I have is how the transition from walking/driving to flying will happen. Will it feel like a “loading screen” transition or will it really have that open-world feel to it.

However it plays out, this looks to be a fun time, motion capture acting is good, production design looks good, gun/stealth-play will certainly meet the Ubisoft standard, should be something to look forward too.

Oh, and that little Loth Cat lizzard pet thingy is offensively cute

 

If this video is anything to go by the transitions are pretty seamless.
