Ahsoka Ahsoka Episode 1.04 - Discussion Thread (Spoilers Allowed)

That’s the least of its problems. The focus of the show was so poorly handled, that most saw the detour as a welcome respite.

 

She should start every conversation with “I am Ashoka Tano.” Just in case anyone forgot.

 

Im still in the belief that they filmed 2 episodes of Mando series 3 and then stopped production and turned it into TBOB instead. Either because there was some issue with the production or maybe they spent too much of the budget on CGI Luke and needed a cheaper show. But they didn't want to waste the 2 episodes and just put them into TBOB and added Mando to the final to make sense of it.

 

BOBF should've had same more adult tone as Andor...'

But what comes to Ahsoka. I think next episode will be focused solely or at least mostly on her journey. Hopefully we learn more about how Sabine and Ahsoka started of as master and apprentice and what exactly went wrong first time.

 

We’ll have to agree to disagree. I think that part is by far the worst part of the show for me.

 

But again, each of those other shows have had the title characters' story covered at some point. People talk about who/what/when/where/why Ahsoka's first meeting with Luke has yet to be presented in this Title show of hers, but of course it was a forgone conclusion that (through the clever use of a bacta tank dream), we're shown Boba's ultimate escape from the Sarlacc. No more dialogue needed with hints and innuendos.

 

Loved the mirror of Ashoka taking our the Inquisitor similar to how Kenobi took out Maul on Tatooine!

 

I too would have preferred an Andor show where those security guards at the beginning killed him and tossed him in a dumpster. No really, that would have made for a better show, where it was just Luthen and Mon Mothma.

 

Dude. Like its placement or not, BD Howard’s Mando episode in BoBF was pure gold. And Filoni’s BoBF episode 6 was great too. Far better than all the other BoBF episodes, though episode 2 was on that level as well.

Yeah, I rated the first three 5s, the fourth one I rate a 6.

 

I think the next episode will be focused heavily on Ahsoka and her story. And I disagree about bacta tank dream, it was not a good way to tell that story IMO.

 

About Sabine though, I’ll say “utilitarian argument for sacrificing your best friend.” is pretty easy advice to give. It is not however, easy advice to take. Personally I’d reject it too.

Take your trolley and run it off rails.

 

Again, we'll see. Maybe the fact that the episode is being shown in limited cinema engagements is to present Ahsoka's story to the masses beyond streaming.

why you got to be such a 'hater'

 

Air is getting a bit toxic around here... People really disagree about a lot of things what comes to Star Wars shows. I personally have liked Ahsoka ok. It's not Andor though. That show was phenomenal in it's new approach and different tone. I like Mandalorian seasons 1 and 2 a lot too. Been rewatching them lately.

Ahsoka is still not over so it's very hard to say how well it works. I didn't like episode 3. I felt like story didn't progress enough. This episode was good in comparison.

 

Seriously, I don't hate it, but it's not doing much for me.

 

But its VERY limited. its less about getting it out there to the masses and more for the fans who are willing to travel to find an AMC just to watch the episode.

 

It's not really as toxic as I thought this particular show would generate, but I guess that's a product of how it's not specifically about the title character; unlike TCW in many episodes.

 

Sure, but it's too early to complain that Ahsoka as whole doesn't focus enough in Ahsoka since show is not yet complete. But so far it has been mostly about Sabine.

It is about Ahsoka and her pupil Sabine apparently. Like Obi-Wan was also about Leia and Reva. And Boba Fett was also about Din Djarin and Fennec Shand at times.

 

I’m sure it’s in part from just watching the new The Flash movie that my mind is going here but what if there’s like a weird time loop thing that is underway that we’ve already observed but didn’t know?

What if this Ahsoka:


Who we see at the end of Rebels is actually Ahsoka AFTER she exits the world beyond worlds right now? The live action version of this we just watched is the first failed loop where Ahsoka has realized she failed to mentor Sabine correctly and the effect of that had dire consequences. So she exits again and we see the scene again above and a condescended version of everything that happened between Sabine and Ahsoka after this scene (including some key scenes from these first 4 episodes in a quick time jump sequence) but where subtle differences in her mentorship build more trust between her and Sabine to the point where we get back to the moment where Sabine has the gold sphere again but this time she does destroy it based on all of the subtle mentorship moments Ahsoka handles slightly better than before?

I doubt it will go this route for a number of reasons. Not the least of which is that I’m not sure what would then happen in this plot if Sabine did destroy it but also because I’m not convinced they’d want to do a full episode exploring the space time continuum of changing the past in subtle ways leading to a better result with Ahsoka’s poor handling of Sabine being the main thing that needed to improve.


still, it’s kind of interesting to imagine and it does seem like the show is about to get into time/space/spirituality via the World Beyond Worlds somehow so I suppose anything is possible from here.
