I am pretty sure he will have decently sized role in episodes 6-8.

I think so too. But episode 4 was a great demonstration of the virtue of not having highly specific expectations. While some viewers have their legs all a-twitching for Thrawn to show up, Filoni drops some seriously emotional and fraught drama with Sabine, Ahsoka and Hera. At this point, if we keep getting material like this, I would even be perfectly fine with Thrawn arriving in a post-credits scene after the finale.

I always preach having at worst vague expectations.

What I mean is theorize all you want just don’t commit those theories to heart. That will only lead to disappointment.

I can spout all the crazy thrawn theories I want. Even if I think they are cool doesn’t mean I think there is a chance in hell of them happening

They did really emphasise that the Empire isn’t gone earlier. It’s just under the surface of the New Republic. With Thrawn returning it’ll come back very quickly.

Would Thrawn even have a means of knowing that Palpatine is dead? I know the Mandalorian established that there are segments of the Imperial remnant anticipating his return, not just Morgan. But I mean the guy missed so much, and frankly Rebels did nothing in my mind to establish this guy as any sort of major threat. He was beaten by the Rebels and some space whales, back when the Empire had every advantage, and now it doesn't. And while people like Gideon saw the collapse of the Empire and have been fighting to keep things together, Thrawn missed all of that. So even when it comes to any sense of legitimacy to be “Heir to the Empire,” Thrawn has little. He’s been out of play for so long. I feel like the show is REALLY bad about selling the threat of this guy, and I find myself caring more about Baylan and his story, as opposed to Thrawn's.

Thrawn is like Sauron waiting for his ring (shaped ship) to help restore him to power. But even Peter Jackson in Fellowship of the Ring had enough sense to establish who Sauron was and why he was such a big deal in the opening scene. Ahsoka relies on the assumption that the audience has seen Rebels, and having seen Rebels, I don't believe that show established Thrawn to be a Palpatine level threat that could topple the NR, nor worthy of Ahsoka's obsession (to the point that when Sabine is nearly killed, Ahsoka cares more about whether the map to Thrawn was backed up anywhere as opposed to her former apprentice's well being).

The things that defeated Thrawn in Rebels were pretty extreme supernatural phenomena and the NR don’t seem especially impressive from what we’ve gotten of them across these series.

But, I would imagine that when they get to this new galaxy they’ll find it throughly conquered by Thrawn. That’ll communicate his threat pretty well.

There was nothing supernatural actually. It was more like wonders of nature instead that took him. Sure we can think WBW stuff was supernatural, but purgills are not. In many ways there is no supernatural/natural divide at all in Star Wars universe since midichlorians serve as binding agent between the Force and the crude matter what all bodies and celestial bodies are...

Something like the Bendu doesn’t seem like a common natural occurrence to me. A lot of that character seemed like an extension of the storytelling Filoni was doing with the Mortis Gods/WBW.

The Bendu was very clearly a representation of natural phenomena - and thus outside the moral spectrum. He wasn’t supernatural. He essentially was nature. As @Swashbucklingjedi alludes to, the lack of division between the temporal and spiritual world is consistent with much Buddhist thought.

Won’t be at all shocked if he has complete control over the galaxy more or less

We really don’t know enough about the Bendu to say with any certainty what he is. There isn’t exactly a larger framework within the lore to suggest that he’s a common occurrence. We never see anything like him on any other planet or expressed through any other in-universe culture or philosophy.

Well, it’s clear to me what Dave intended. Which is essentially an embodiment of nature. Filoni’s Bombadil or Treebeard.

New Leak from MyTimetoShine via twitter.

Thrawn is using Night Sisters and an army of zombie Storm Troopers in the other galaxy to find a way back. Thrawn has a henchman named Enoch with a golden mask. Ezra is not with him they split ways a long time ago and Ezra developed a new Force power. A Force Karate. The season ends with Thrawn winning. He's back in the main Star Wars galaxy and is ready to take over. Also they are teasing an even greater threat that will come soon. Greater than Thrawn

I did it for Ezra. And all I got was information I already knew or suspected. Only the last bit is new although that just might be misremembering.

It’s funny. Basically if I see any leaks not from the trades (it’s almost impossible to ignore those) I basically give up and go look at all of them. So for instance I went into Mando blind, Kenobi blind Andor not and Ahsoka n out.
