"Mad Max and vegemite are the prime exports of australia."

    (The world according to americans.)

This is one of few upcoming projects I think could have a chance of success.

    Looks like Fury Road.

I mean that as a good thing.

It took Kissinger's death for the trailer to finally drop.

Not sure how I feel about this. On the one hand, it does look good, yet at the same time Fury Road already dropped enough hints about Furiousa's back story that I don't see how a full length prequel can avoid feeling unecessary. Would've preferred it if Miller just made a completely new story with new characters.

I'm not one to complain about CGI, but a lot of those action scenes looked like a cheap video game to me.

Fury Road was made in 2015, but that movie was so powerful that it still feels like a recent memory.

No, just Mad Max. Nobody eats or knows what vegemite is outside of Australia.

I kind of love how little George Miller cares about the lore consistency of his own franchise.

Furiosa looks great. Quite pleased at the surprising reception Fury Road has received/built over the years. For something that seemed aimed at such a niche audience with its hyper-kinetic, over-the-top style and minimal approach/presence to character and plot, to find its way among not just mainstream appeal/acclaim, but among the best action films of all time (and to do so to the degree that a prequel would not only be made, but highly-anticipated) is quite the turn of fortune. Even moreso for one based on a long-dormant, cult franchise (it was dormant for longer than Tron! My memories of cable TV glimpses left me with the mistaken impression that Thunderdome was at least in the early 90's, not 1985!).

    Looks good.

I like the very subtle evolution in culture and future-history in the Mad Max universe.

I have to say, the new trailer is a bit underwhelming imo. I'll definitely watch the movie and probably enjoy it, but from a visual/design standpoint, nothing really jumped off the screen for me. One thing I love about the Mad Max franchise is how each film takes the story to new places. In the first, the post-apocalypse world is still kind of functional. Max is a cop, and even gets his kid ice cream! Then in part 2 the madness increases as the environment collapses fully, with leather-barbarians running rampant. In part 3 we get a whole new civilization, I know lots of people hate Thunderdome but I love Barter Town and the comedy of it all, such an intricately created world for cinema. And then after hiatus we got Fury Road. While it feels tonally closest to The Road Warrior (part 2) the brilliant cinematography and new designs like the war-boys in their fortress freshened up the concept, it was a worthy reboot/re-imagining.

This trailer looks to me like a Fury Road spin-off, I don't see anything *new* here. That's ok, and maybe the film will have something that can surprise us like previous entries have, but it feels like Miller is finally falling into a kind of formula.

I think that this film is leaning into the idea that this is a new continuity, same with "Fury Road".

Look like everyone seems to cheer when people like Anya Taylor-Joy and Chris Hemsworth walk on stage

It worked for Evil Dead (1 and 2); it works even better for Mad Max.
