Amph Disney's GARGOYLES Discussion (Cartoon, Comics, and More)

It covers issues #1-6. So I would expect a Vol 2 at some point with 7-12 hopefully later this year.

 

Where were you able to buy it? I'm seeing it still listed as a pre-order in most stores.

 

I ordered it through my local comic book shop.

 

Yeah I think I'll just wait until its mainstream release. Most of these stores don't even show a timetable for when it will be available, including Amazon.

 

Amazon says April 9th in the title. If you have the means, maybe check with your local comic book shop.

 

I'm actually headed down to Florida a week from Saturday; I was hoping to get the book as light reading on the plane and airport before my trip. We'll see.

 

How O.J. Simpson Got Disney's Gargoyles Canceled

Under normal circumstances, you might take a headline like this for as little as it might be worth; but apparently the journalists did their homework and Greg Weisman himself pretty much agreed that it was the popularity of the Simpson trial that doomed the series. Americans were just simply glued to all day coverage of the Simpson trial, and the kids couldn't beg their parents enough to switch the channels, even for a half hour. And of course there were constant interruptions on those network channels anyway. The only way to avoid any coverage of the Simpson trial was to simply leave your TV off throughout the whole ordeal.

 

That's interesting. I never heard that before. I double checked an old website where Greg used to answer questions, and he does mention the OJ trial in two posts below.

It's not surprising that Looper is looking for clicks by creating an article that just references another site's article (Polygon) from four years ago. Seems a petty way to get clicks, but what isn't at this point.

 

Good week for Gargoyles fans
1) Gargoyles Quest #1 comic came out Wednesday. It continues the main story that started in the main line comic.
2) NECA Silver Falcon Broadway came out today for Week 2 of the Haulathon event

 

Still debating about getting the Vows two-pack (Goliath and Demona). I've seen people posting that Best Buy has them in stock. I really just want it for the extra accessories that it includes (new faces for Demona and of course the Phoenix Gate).

 

Any news on the Gargoyles show on Disney Plus they announced? I think it's a live action reboot.

 

No news yet; but as long as no one says that the production is cancelled, there's still hope.

I found this if anyone is interested in a review of the newer stuff. As for what Ghost said, I'd prefer them to continue the original story, which is what they're doing. Even so, a reboot that stays true to the original themes (a la Sailor Moon Crystal compared to the original manga) would also be welcome.

Not sure if I'd necessarily consider that Demona Funko on my radar; I like the the original one that I already own; although this new one with her in rage mode may be appealing.

By the way, I'd read through the "Here in Manhattan" graphic novel. I thought it was pretty good; at least as it served bringing everyone up to where things stand in the current story. It didn't explain Brooklyn's time jumping adventures with his new family or even what Mary from Medieval Scotland was doing in modern day New York (I actually asked about it in a Gargoyles FB group and they informed me it had to do with Brooklyn's time jumping, so I let it pass). I believe the next volume Graphic Novel will be released sometime in August; at least if you're going by the Amazon pre-order listing.

 

Yeah, the whole Brooklyn "TimeDancer" adventure was supposed to be a separate story/spinoff. A part of it gets briefly addressed in the SLG Gargoyles run. The current Dynamite Quest run also references a character from that time period so I can see one being lost if they are unfamiliar.

I did find the new Demona Pop on Amazon so I made sure to pre-order just in case I can't find it in stores.

Yeah I've just included it in my "Wish List" for now. I'm not so keen on pre-ordering little things like Funko pops months in advance unless I'm sure they're going to be rare items.

I keep all my stuff in box but it is tempting to display.
I didn't get mine yet. I'm guessing the 4th could be blamed for the delay. I hope to hear soon like tomorrow or Wednesday.

* I checked my email and I see that it shipped on the 29th but when I check the status of the order on Hot Topic it says "preparing to ship". So weird.
