I liked this song even without considering it being Star Wars related.

 

I don't think pop songs should be in star wars.

Hopefully The Acolytes does not have a legacy like Marvels "Secret Invasion", which with the majority of Marvel fans see it as low quality. I remember so much disappointment on the reddit marvelstudious after that series concluded.

 

Why you hope for that. The Acolyte looks good and is good unlike Secret Invasions.

 

Sorry that was a mistake on my wording, I intended to say “I hope it does not have a legacy like secret invasion” but accidentally left out “not”.

 

It wasn't actually played in the series, tho. Its just a song about the series. Remember that "Clones" song from Republic Commando? This isn't exactly new.

I often visit the Reddit for Star Wars leaks.

This song is going to play in the end credits of an upcoming episode.

 

So now The Acolyte is rated below the Holiday Special. I bet these malcontents are very content with their impact on a show they're not watching. Me, I was happy to ignore this bit of internet trolling, but if it actually affects me getting new SW content, I'll be greatly unhappy. The urge is troll something this group likes, but, do trolls in general like anything?

Again review bombing is very obviously a thing for this show. Doesn’t mean everyone giving it a 1 is just making it up or hasn’t watched the show. But it annoys me that we’ll never know how many of those 1s are actually real. Since the actual 1s deserve to be heard. You can have legitimate complaints about the show if you have seen it. But again I doubt half the people have (probably more)

 

I agree. I don't think Star Wars generally fits this format... outside of The Mandalorian which had a kind of 'story of the week' approach that the other TV shows do not. If The Acolyte turns out to be a really great show, the risk is that many casual viewers will be turned off by the reception of the first couple of episodes, and that initial reaction becomes the perception of the show in its totality... which would be unfair IMO.

 

I wouldn't worry about it. I'm no insider but I'd guess that Disney's production of new content is motivated by $$$ and not the RT audience score.

 

Money and interest. If anything these review bombings assured Lesley Headland she will get her three seasons.

 

Definitely. I am concerned that the only person I know who has rated it is my daughter. Everyone else I know who I've spoken to or read comments from have said that it's rubbish, flat and continues to make the Jedi look emotionally stunted and dumb. It really doesn't seem to be going down well, at least as far as I can tell.

 

I'm curious if this will end up being the first live action Star Wars show to get canceled

 

Doubtful, Ahsoka got a season 2 and this has no nostalgia. No Luke Skywalker or Anakin Skywalker. If they cancel this it proves you cant really move forward.

 

Just to add to this, they've also review bombed a fan film from 2022 so much that it has increased in popularity by 800 spots. Review bombing is stupid enough but even more asinine when they hit the wrong target.

 

All these people continue to hate watch it. Then they can go on social media and boast how they hate it and it's killing SW. Then they watch next week's episode.

The show isn't being canceled. Which is something these critics have claimed was going to happen. That the show was never going to be released. And here we are.

We'll probably get a second season thanks to the hate-watchers.

 

Hate watching just makes sure we get another season and a season 3.

 

while I cannot personally talk of my opinion on the Velma show that show was renewed for a second season. Despite it being despised by almost everyone on the left and right.

the acolyte will be just fine especially with how many people hate watch it. Again I doubt they expected this to get much more viewership than Andor.

right now If I recall their most viewed shows are still BOBF and Kenobi followed by Mando and then Ahsoka, then Acolyte then Andor.

 

Audience review scores are 99% meaningless when it comes to quality and I think all the studios know it (as should anyone who understands the concepts behind scientific polling). The only thing even close to a valid survey that is done for media is cinemascore; which only applies to movies in theaters.

I don't even say this to make a comment on the quality of the show (I'm pretty meh on it personally)

My guess is the only reason any studio would care about audience scores is if they influence whether people will watch the show in the first place or not. I know this is an issue in the video game industry, and to some degree for movies probably because both of those are products you have to purchase before you consume them. I'm not sure how much it impacts streaming shows since the vast majority of the audience is already paying for the service. Look at how many Netflix shows/movies that get terrible audience scores also get high viewership.


On a personal level, the only "audience score" type reviews I've ever found consistently useful are steam and amazon reviews... and even then I still usually read some reviews instead of just going by the score (I actually. often find the negative reviews to be the most useful)

 

Do SW shows get canceled or just not get another season? If The Acolyte is a closed box mystery, then it may not get another season. I've yet to read mention of a season two. What might get it another season is this hype from the "bad" reviews. So go trolls, go.

 

I believe Headland said that S1 is closed, in case it doesn't get picked up, but there's story for 3 seasons.

 

Here's the thing about Velma. They were already in production of season 2 before the first season came out.

With the Acolyte, I don't think the hate watching is as big as people say it is. I think most people are going to watch the first few episodes and then dip out. I'm curious how much of the intial audience will be retained by episode 8.
