I feel like that would have knocked back all the shows at the same time, rather than moving this show back behind other shows it was originally going to come out before.

Maybe, though, again, I am not sure why that would result in this show shuffled a full year back behind less finished at the time shows rather than both shows being moved to spread things out.

They probably wanted to keep certain shows in certain release windows, ie: animated Bad Batch in winter, AAA Ahsoka in last summer, use May 4th to bolster the unknown property targeting general audiences (Acolyte).

Skeleton Crew has a bunch of kids in it so releasing it close to Christmas alongside a bunch of merchandise for parents to buy kids as gifts makes sense $$$.

Don't really think Acolyte would have produced the same opportunity if they released it in December instead.

It's interesting release considering its centered around kids and those kids are gonna look so much different when promotional tour time comes around

Was this show filmed probably close to two years ago?

They finished filming in Jan 2023, so it will have been about 2 years by time it finally airs (it was originally supposed to air about 6 months ago).

I wonder if that means that they plan on this show just being a one season series? Shows can get by with one character doing some unrealistic aging (as most of the time they will be playing secondary characters). But if it is happening to a large portion of the cast it can definitely make it more difficult for the audience to buy into. If they do do a season 2 there will probably have to be an in-universe time skip.

I don't think we can predict what their intention is there. I suspect they made this one to be self-contained but with seeds for more, since it's an experiment in a live action demo genre, but with the hope that it'll be a success with that demo that they can carry on somehow. But you're right that we'll almost certainly be looking at a time skip of some kind with whatever follow-up they could potentially make (and hopefully the story has that notion baked-in).

When it comes to aging, I'd be more worried about getting one more story out there with young Leia while Vivien is still a kid, since that character has a ceiling on how much she can age before she runs up against Carrie Fisher. If Obi-Wan Kenobi isn't getting a second season, make a new miniseries called Ben Kenobi instead. Just make it happen!

They used stop motion in Season 2 of Mando as well (for the scrapwalkers). It's great that they're continuing to blend new and old techniques together on these shows. Really curious to see that matte painting.

I miss old school matte paintings a lot. It's exciting to hear they're making a comeback!

    Potential merch leak
New Mercy is coming out now and looks like the children will have a droid companion that looks like almost Terminator. Also the blind girl is Miraluka and weird seeing an Ortolan with hair and arms. Love we have 2 alien leads.

Oh I don’t think I knew Nick Frost was in the show, even if it’s just a voice!

    I can't wait to see this December 3 2025!

Interesting child species here! This looks like it will be an upbeat show. I think we need some of that.

So the feeling I'm getting is this is more of YA adventure series, probably closer to something like Percy Jackson... does that seem to be the consensus for others too?

They've said that they're aiming for an Amblin style like Goonies.

    The Plot for Skeleton Crew...

Spoiler marked for I might be on to something:
most likely involves a Peter Pan tale.

Jude Law wears green like Peter and can do magic as a (former) Jedi. He takes the kids, or they strand, in a remote galaxy (from Ahsoka show) and explore the mystical realm chased by pirates (confirmed Mando S3 pirate as one villain).

Recent marketing revealed SM-33 as a droid name... Smee anybody? Yub!

Now, Jude Law's Peter is an adult... not a kid himself. Thus he may be actually adult Peter Pan from HOOK! A former Jedi Kid that in hiding had to loose his Force magic and is now rediscovering it along the other kids like Hook's adult Peter.

Now the Amblin feel is right there... as they did Hook, E.T. and Goonies. And Hook and Goonies both had pirates as nemesis. Hook and E.T. both had a "going home" plot and thus it all falls into place!

So thus I predict the kid stumble on to something on Suburbia Planet that the Pirates want/need and intend to follow it to treasure, but kidnapping and trying to get someone back, they are in over their heads and off to the galaxy and find some ancient tech that will strand them there unless they happen to hide in a Purgill from pirates and get taken along, too. Jude Law and their meeting will be interesting, and probably not voluntary. Once all find their way the strange satellite galaxy, they will find more cameos and weirdness relating back to other SW stories and Amblin movies (E.T. cameo?) and later even find who Ahsoka series stranded back there and bring them all back after defeating the pirates and whatever bigger fish is there to fry. . .

Cue cliffhanger finale, where they return to the galaxy proper... set after Ahsoka.. and thus stumble into the middle of Thrawn's return and starting campaign against the NR.

Then we only need Mando+Grogu movie to bridge the same timeframe to the same Thrawn showdown and Ahsoka season 2 to lead into the Thrawn movie.

The question is, do they return to the main galaxy at the end of Crew... or in Ahsoka Season 2 only? Or maybe even leave that open for Crew getting another season, like Ahsoka will?

    PS:
I can't take another Ruufio death... please spare him!

Is it confirmed they go to a second galaxy?

From what I can tell, it was just a mention in the promotional material talking to the audience, so it's meaning might have been from the audience's perspective... that Star Wars is a galaxy far, far away. That's all.

I was there, at Celebration, when they screened the full first Trailer of which only a tiny fraction leaked online actually. Lets say, it does not sound like it's the audience's perspective taken all intel we have into account.

I'm not going to read the spoiler stuff, but I'm very ok with a goonies in space

also there is an Ortolan, so that's an automatic win for me
