I think Lucasfilm is going to dismiss the negative feedback when their star Amandla Stenberg is getting racist death threats from "fans".

In the case of Acolyte, it seems Disney don't seem so willing to take a bold risk. Otherwise, they could have announced a second season before the season ended (like Andor).

The risk seems to be the first season. The Acolyte likely needs to fulfill Disney expectatives to get a second season.

Andor filming started before the first season release ended. This means they likely renewed for a second season even before the first episode was broadcast.

That was a risk from Disney. If Andor isn't successful on views, it would mean the risk failed.

I imagine that was part of the deal they made with Gilroy. Headland is an accomplished director as well but it has mainly been on TV so she probably wouldn't have the same kind of sway Gilroy would.

Also, Andor was watched by tons of people. It just had slightly lower numbers than the other Star Wars shows up to that point. And I frankly don't even know what those numbers mean. And don't care. Because it's a mind-numbingly boring topic. And yet a dominant one.

Well, the numbers could boring for some people. However, there are many people who like to speak about numbers, that's why it's a so dominant topic.

That said, it seems to not be a lot of interest on characters like Osha and Mae. That could be another reason why there isn't so much discussion about the future of these characters.

The Acolyte is not but it’s fairly close to it. SHE Hulk got a similar reception and is not getting a season 2 with a slightly larger budget the cost of doing another season for a show with middling reception was to much. The spending on Disney + is an unmitigated financial disaster overall which is why Iger is cutting costs on it left and right. Shows and Films make more money being on networks and in theatres then on streaming. Netflix seems to be the only exception currently.

Amazon prime video is another exception. I would assume most people have it because of the free two day shipping though.

Apple TV+ mostly exists to advertise iPhones and iPads.

Hungary is a small country. A Star Wars SAGA episodes has been released every week for a month, this week on Thursday, The Force Awakens was next in line. Hungarian Star Wars cosplay also appeared before the movie. The main attraction was Qimir and Jecki. A surprise, to be sure, but a welcome one.

No way. SHE Hulk got a much worse reception than the Acolyte, and didn’t have brand new and unique worldbuilding as the Acolyte did. The Acolyte is the introduction, for casual fans, to a whole new era of Star Wars storytelling. And so it’s a totally different thing than the SHE Hulk one-off, and will be afforded more leeway, given that it opens up a new horizon for the fandom.

I was really confused. Do you really think the actor saying "first season" confirms a second season?

I mean, the cast clearly want a second season, so it isn't weird they call the current season as "first season" even if there isn't confirmation.

Obi Wan Kenobi was called full season even though Ewan wants to do season 2

Obi Wan Kenobi was a miniseries with a pretty closed ending. That was always the plan for the show. Ewan could want a another season, but this wouldn't change what Obi Wan Kenobi show was.

Instead, The Acolyte was a regular show with the an ending pretty open for a second season. The staff always wanted more than one season. So, it isn't weird the cast call it as first season regardless confirmation (or not) from a second season.

I want Obi Wan Kenobi Seasons 2-57 but that show really cannot go anywhere near the heights of a final confrontation with "Anakin" and making peace with his friend being "truly dead". There is no reasonable goalpost loftier than where the show already went.

It’d make more sense for a “Young Luke” (or something) series where Obi-Wan occasionally appears.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't The Book of Bobba Fett get better ratings compared to The Acolyte? However, they never got a a second season, even though Boba Fett was a very well known character among all Star Wars fans prior to the start of that series.

They could always have Kenobi meet up with Ashoka and maybe Rex for one last mission. Milking TCW nostalgia but in live action
