That's what the upcoming GTA Online 2.0 is for (plus some minor single player stuff attached to it that will never be updated or have any DLCs)

 

Only idiots pay full price for any PC game.

Man, I still preorder games. I'm a complete chump.

Edit: I should, however, mention that I've played a number of games on Epic for free that are old and yet still full price on Steam. (Also, they are games where I feel zero dollars is about the correct price)

 

14 years after it released they could at least have made the effort to make it look like RDR2 instead of just a console port with old graphics.

 

Making it look like the sequel would require a full remake.

I don't need to tell you that you shouldn't pre-order, but I think Greenmangaming always offers discounts on pre-orders.

 

They've had plenty of time to fully remake it, they delayed GTA 5 on PC so it could be properly developed for that platform instead of just porting the inferior console version. Why can't that be done with RDR?

 

It'll be native 4K, so the resolution will be better and presumably the framerate will be 60fps or uncapped. You're proposing something much bigger than a simple "remaster"-- it would require basically rebuilding the game from scratch, like the recent Resident Evil, Silent Hill 2, and The Last of Us 1 remakes.

 

The Halo 1 graphical remaster didn't require remaking the whole game, you could toggle between old & new graphics (which are quite different from the original, not just smoother textures or resolution upscale) but the game was identical.

Remakes are a new version of an old story like Resident Evil has done, or Dead Space.

 

That reportedly took a solid year of crunch for a turn of the century level based FPS. I don’t even want to think about what RDRedemption would require but it would be closer in scope to those GTA remasters (and we know how badly that went). These things don’t happen like magic.

 

Of course not, the game is 14 years old no-one is asking them to push it out in a year.
They've had years to try something

 

Why would it need to be remade in 2’s engine in the first place?

 

Because it looks better and makes the story visually consistent.
Also, because it's nice for the players who have had to wait so long & will probably be expected to pay premium price for it

 

Can't say that I've ever thought about being an ant in a game before, but this certainly looks unique.

 

Congratulations to all five people who wanted a remake of SimAnt with the mechanics of Brutal Legend I guess.

I found an online dos box and played Sim Ant yesterday for an hour and then beat it this morning. So much fun!

The frankly incredibly named Slug Disco Studios actually did a spiritual remake of SimAnt called Empires of the Undergrowth you might want to check out in that case.

Yes there are two completely different styles of ant RTSes with the word Empire in the title this year.
