All of my birth certificates say that I'm female. We paid for that years ago. Also, my deadname is not on any of my birth certificates. I had a female name for 8 years and changed it to a different one in 2022, and as such, no male name is on there. Well, TA1994 is cis female and she's not going anywhere. The same is true for many of the gay couples at my church. So...I guess they'll have to come and take us. After having transitioned ten years ago, I have no masculine clothes or any idea how to live the other way anymore. I didn't much understand it before the transition, either.

I see people trying to say things like "Don't give up" and "Fight on" as if this is 2016 all over again.

No. We did that in 2016. We received a reprieve in 2020. We had one chance. It's gone now.

This is what people wanted. Fine. I won't stop it. I'll take care of me and mine alone. A lot of people are about to be just as selfish. Get ready.

Yes, but time and time again, chasing those conservatives just comes up short. It's almost a holy grail for the Dems at this point, every single election. If they can just get those 2%ers they'll have clout or respect in the electorate. And it just doesn't turn results - no matter if they're going after Joe Rogan males or Cheney female conservatives. Especially at the expense of getting leftward progressives on board, or anyone else, because there's nothing worse then being tarred and feathered as a Lefty - Dem Socialist.

A lot more Dems sat out this one, than Republicans who didn't want to vote for their party's Presidential candidate.

JD Vance is the new poster child of failing up. Immensely unpopular. Unable to say a single thing that makes him seem like a normal human being. But he's progressed from ****** book author to Senator to Vice President in record time. He could beat Obama to the presidency by several years. Ted Cruz watches him with ever-increasing envy and rage.

In my opinion, I think it’s unlikely that they are able to influence blue state politics so I think the west coast and New England will remain safer than almost every other state for trans people.

The one national ban I think they will try is abortion. If it success is another matter. You may see the Supreme Court overturn gay marriage but in a way it goes back to the states so again if your in New England or the mid Atlantic states or the west coast your probably fine.

however, if you’re not in those blue states and you’re gay or you’re trans or you’re a woman who’s thinking about having kids and can possible leave do so.

Illinois will hopefully remain a reproductive services sanctuary for a while longer at least. It's still getting robust business from Indiana and Iowa. Hopefully Missouri can make some headway with its successful ballot measure.

Well, Biden had better come out swinging ASAP to save/block as much as he can. Better yet, step down and have Kamala do it to ruin all the stupid “47” crap Trump is probably planning to hawk….

I do agree its stupid to pen too much hope here. But I honestly think it was radically stupid for a progressive to be so offended by who is on stage with her at some random rally that they would sit out the entire election. If it was based on some kind of principle of policy, that's fine (though that conflict will now also turn out worse in all likelihood). Otherwise, though, I think the greater miscalculation is on the part of the progressive voters than the campaign.

Don't chase conservatives by moving the party to the right. Do it by moving conservatives to the left.

No, I've got it. Take them from where they are and make them work the very worst jobs possible, jobs so bad that even prisoners on prison release work programs wouldn't do them, like picking berries in fields all day in the heat or chopping up animal parts in factory farms.

    ...Oh wait

I think a woman getting elected president is entirely doable. The easy bit is to say that a Republican woman could be, but I think a Democratic woman could as well.

But then I think the issue is how they would campaign.

They would have to raise like one billion dollars every 3 months or so, frequently visit swing states. . .

If Trump is going to do this autocracy thing right he will need a good Gleichschaltung program. An example would be rewarding school children for ratting out their neighbors who hire undocumented workers for domestic help or yard services or child care or home repair projects. The workers would be deported, the neighbors would get some kind of public punishment like cleaning trash on the side of the highway, and the children's family would get free tickets to a Trump rally. For a second or third offense they just send the local chapter of the Proud Boys around to the house to beat everyone up.

Young white male voters were not going to vote for her no matter what. Again, it seems like a crisis of absolutely enormous proportions for them to even remotely to break their voting habits. From 1972-1988, they voted massively for Republicans. Clinton got them to break away as in 1992, their vote was split, and then he actually won their vote (slightly) in 1996, but then they went right back to voting for Republicans with GWB. Then the world broke in 2008, so they voted for Obama but then went back to voting for Republican candidates starting in 2012 and stayed that way until 2020; yet again the planet broke, so they voted for Biden but went right back to Trump the first chance they got.

And I don't care who the Democrats put up in 2028. Young white males will not be voting for them unless there is some sort of crisis. If we are stuck in some conflict overseas and the body bags are mounting (possible, but I must not incredibly likely) or there is a massive economic crisis (much more likely of the two, especially the combination of Trump's stupid economic plans and the old saying what go up must come down) then yes there is a opportunity for a Democratic to come in and make significant gains in young white voters. But even if the overall condition is "ehhhhhhhh" in the country right now, they are not going to vote for a Democrat. It's just ingrained in their blood for whatever reason.

Again, all the pundits have it wrong talking about male Latinos or whatever minority group they wish to cast blame for last night that really not much to do with it. Had Harris done 1% better with white voters in PA last night, it would been the same if she had done 15 points better with Latinos. That is how little overall their vote had on the election.

The Democrats have had a white person problem in presidential elections for (waiting on DarkGingerJedi to respond LOL) now, and honestly, I don't know how you fix it. It's engrained just like religion, and again, it really does not matter what is going on in the world. One of the best political operators I have ever worked with was one of the few Democrats I knew who was not celebrating in 2008 after Obama won. Yes, of course he was happy Obama won but he also disheartened. Why? Because he thought Democrats would do better than they did with white voters. McCain actually won the majority of white voters in 2008 with 55% of the vote. I remember sitting in his office as I was just starting to transition from government/politics to becoming a teacher, and he was absolutely flabbergasted. "The world is absolutely on fire with one of the most incompetent presidents in history at the helm, and even though I respect John McCain, we have the most charismatic candidate in a generation. Why on earth are we losing the white vote still that bad??" We both agreed that, yes, a percentage was racism towards Obama, but the main thing is white people are just Republican, and there is just nothing stopping it.

And he was one of the few Democratic operators who banked on changing demographics and would have them dominate presidential campaigns long term. For one, white voters were still going to be the bulk of voters even when they became the minority. Plus, as different racial/ethnic groups moved along over time, there was going to be spillage into the Republican camp, as we saw. I remember him saying that we needed to grab more white voters into our camp long term or it was going to be tough sledding in presidential campaigns going forward no matter what is going on in the world. He turn out to be poetic.

I hope she concedes her loss but wishes the country the best (not Trump) and talks about fighting on.

And it needs to happen after all votes are cast… but don’t take blue states for granted.
Illinois, Minnesota, Virginia, New Jersey, and others are getting too close.
