Discussion Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy Star Wars Movie - NOT FILMING April 7th, 2024 (Blame Fredrik!)

Nothing cool about using a pack mentality to try and back up your own view and put someone down for different views. Not everyone likes the same thing and he (or she) does make some valid points IMO.

 

If this was something new people wouldn't give him a hard time but he has been doing it for a long time. He knows full well that most everyone here doesn't share his opinion.

 

And what is it that Filoni is using that the ST threw away? Id like to hear several valid points. Preferably real ones and not ones you decided were the case with no evidence to back up.

Usage of Luke doesnt count as since the thought they couldnt use him would be silly. Only you are restricting that.

And none of that oh he used ST elements like the babu frik aliens because its what he wants to keep in his new canon that he is quite clearly making. Because thats you shifting the goal post every time.

 

This movie will now be released on Netflix after the Super Bowl next year like that one Cloverfield movie, and YOU'RE ALL GOING TO LIKE IT

 

Will it be even better than Rebel Moon.

Sure seems a little odd that Hollywood Reporter would write an entire article about Rey if she is being wiped from canon.

 

That article was terrifying, except for the part that said Rogue Squadron was still in development.

 

Jeff Sneider says a veteran screenwriter is in negotiations to take over the script for this movie. Sneider believes, but isn’t completely sure, that it is none other than Lawrence Kasdan.

 

Jeff Sneider....now thats a name I haven't heard in a long time...a long time

 

Seems like Kathleen Kennedy is trying to put together the 2013 Skywalker Ranch writer’s room. Simon Kinberg, Michael Arndt, Lawrence Kasdan, Kiri Hart, Dave Filoni and Pablo Hidalgo were at the ranch developing the next wave of movies until JJ Abrams had them all tossed out except for Kasdan.

 

Sounds all good.

 

Between Kasdan and Abrams, they created most of the issues with the ST IMO. Solo is largely inoffensive… but it’s hardly a game changer. So Kasdan would be a dreadful choice.

 

Maybe Kasdan has «lost it» as they would say in Hollywood language, but maybe he is also the person to actually get things done. Same with Kinberg. Lawrence Kasdan will always be the guy who wrote two ( or even 3) of my favorite scripts / films, and his work on TFA, although not groundbreaking, was classy as in: A solid, warm and fun adventure ride.

Edit: Btw, i listened to the Hot Mic with Rocha/ Sneider now, and its just a speculation regarding Kasdan being the older or veteran writer. There are several other names out there in that category.

 

Seems safe to go with Kasdan.

 

Disney is definitely swinging back towards safe choices, in general. Look at marvel, after all. They just brought back RDJ and the Russos.

 

Well RDJ basically made them go with the Russos. I believe that was part of his deal that he would be back aslong as they direct.

It makes sense to go with Kasdan he is another writer they clearly found a good relationship with. TFA and Solo got made based on what was required by studi whether its nostagia or fixing Solo.

 

Everything old is new again

 

They played safe with TFA and it was so derivative that it nearly broke Star Wars. It's Groundhog Day...
