I think you're right. I re-watched the trailer. There's a brief moment where Jod tells someone "A crew of murderous pirates is coming" in what looks like a home or building on At-Attin. Here's the trailer for reference, it's at the 1:21 mark.

I'm a bit confused as to the whole 'Eternal Treasure' thing....
When the GFFA changes hands the existing credits have to be exchanged for the incoming regime's new credits. Therefore after a while the old credits become worthless, apart from any 'precious' metal content. I do believe that there are credit ingots which are valuable for their much higher 'precious' metal content. Can we assume that the little things that Wim had were actual 'precious' metal in that case?

And..... 'Eternal Treasure' would indicate something completely different to a Mint producing coins that are made from a finite amount of 'precious' metal. Especially when the supply route for said 'precious' metal does not appear to exist.

There is a difference between factual worth of something and the myth connected to an idea though. Someone starts to tell someone about some sort of treasure, the story continues from person to person with all connection to the actual source being long gone. Now you are left with people's imaginations and their understanding of words and concepts, plus any exaggeration people may have added to make it sound even better.
What may hold one meaning to one person might hold a different one to another. Sometimes things also might get lost in translation. The treasure from the beginning of the tale might just be something worth a lot to the people of that area, not something of monetary value. If you lack water, a water source will be a treasure for you. Some plants or animals may hold unique qualities that are essential for the local people, so to them its a treasure. In other cases some places might have an abundance of something that was rare elsewhere, e.g. ancient Egypt had tons of gold, but silver was extremely rare, so to them silver would probably appear more valuable.

El Dorado didn't pop into existence out of nowhere after all, and it drastically changed its form over and over again.

That's how you go from "it's one of the mints that produce our money" to "planet of eternal treasure where the linderlings live".

You make great points. For your consideration, I share the following real story. This happened to me over 15 years ago, but the connection to this is so relatable:

Ordered a cake from the local bakery for a December birthday. Asked the baker to decorate it with holly and other cheerful greenery. Came back a few days later and the cake was decorated with a christian cross. Apparently when taking my order, the baker wrote down holy thinking it was the word for holly.

Now, after watching Skeleton Crew, when I channel my inner pirate, I can totally see myself overhearing a conversation in a cantina at a spaceport along the lines of, “Why yes, after this drink, I am returning home, I call home At Attin, the Treasury planet…” So little old me, a pirate, excitedly runs back to my ship to call my close pirate friend that pillages a very lucrative hyperspace lane, and I say, “Aye, you ever hear of At Attin the treasure planet?!” So me, as a pirate, not only mishears treasure for treasury, but probably more realistically, because I am a pirate, I don’t even know what a treasury is, and I don’t even know they are conceptually two very different things, so it must be one and the same, treasury sure sounds like treasure. And as a gut check, in the United States, the Department of the Treasury oversees the various Mints. For the sake of argument, I am positing in the GFFA a mint and a treasury are one and the same.

Six episodes in, the orderliness of At Attin sure does feel like this planet could have been developed by Republic business-minded bureaucrats to streamline the processing, leveraging, and normalizing of all the various existing galactic currencies, notes, contracts, and exchanges. Also consider those weird and indecipherable bonds and related financial products. A credit default swap originating from Geonosis differs significantly from the ones seen on Cantonica - and if parties from each planet wanted to conduct business, how can financial trades from vastly different cultures be executed fairly? Perhaps the work on At Attin resembles similar “back room” activity and analysis at the New York Stock Exchange - the activity already shown in Skeleton Crew has a similar feel but is likely a governmental agency to keep the gears of an inclusive market-based galaxy-wide democracy humming along. The business of At Attin is to ensure frictionless flow of capital throughout the galaxy.

Or alternatively, the planet has a special volcano that spews pure molten gold, the Great Work perhaps, possibly a vergence, and as a consequence, the Republic exists as it is because it found a secret magic location of free money, a metaphorical “money tree” if you will, that allows them to “print money” on demand, and thus, can use this flow of never-ending credits to assist troubled systems to join the Republic in exchange for significant transformative aid. Think of the improvements to Nevarro after the Empire was ratted out.

    It always was a mint.
The thing is that the planet has been lost for so long( probably 300 years before the Clone Wars) that it simply become a myth with people familiar with the legend ( like the Pirates) not sure about what the so called "treasure" really was.
Think that in only 20 years of the empire, the Jedi also become just a myth for most of the galaxy. By the time of Sequel, in TFA it's made clear they are considered just folklore.
This planet has been hid for so long that even the Empire ( wich craved for money) thought was just a fairtale and ( SO FAR AS WE KNOW) never went after it.
But, anyway, foe the planet still be able to produce those "gold" credits after centuries, it can only mean they got have close to endless resoruce, what could be considered an "eternal" treasure. In the first episode Fern mentioned there were "mines" under the planet, to scare Wyn.
The bigger question why they keep making the credits if they were separated from the Republic ( did the Supervisor lied about the lack of exterior contact withh the rest of the Republic ?).
As for the value of the Old Republic credits probably 3 thing happened: 1) The Empire, in just 20 years wasn't able to replace all of the OR credits with the imperials ones, specially in the outer rin, where such coin probably was always; 2) right after the fall of the Empire ( timeline of the show) these credits were probably considered effective again and precious; 3) In Mando S1, Greef Carga said Imperials credits still in use, so, then again, in the outer rin, any credit was valuable.

Yes, I believe so. I don't think the distinction is Old Republic/Empire/New Republic currency, at least not totally. It seems to me that this is special, i.e., old, Old Republic currency, the kind that is very rare to see. The bartender and pirate at the pirate's nest looked at it like I looked at a certain rare Billy Ripken baseball card in 1989.

This seems like a very elegant explanation to me!

"As my final entry into the cap'n's log, I must reveal a most embarrassing reveal. 'Tis not "eternal treasure" here on At Attin..... 'tis but "a turtle treasure". Aye. This here planet has dozens of factories pumping out millions upon millions of turtles candies, using a classic recipe of rich milk chocolate, smooth caramel, and delicious pecan pieces. As for the rumors of a mint on At Attin. They be true, but there be more than one! There be a peppermint and a spearmint! The folks on this here planet have been working furiously with their computations and formulas and whatnot, trying to invent a third mint, in order to expand the flavor varieties of turtles they manufacture. They call it the great work. Off their rockers, they be. Anywho.... if you were to get this holomessage in time, and it not be all jumbly and cutty-outty, don't bother searchin' fer no At Attin, unless you really like turtles..... the candy type, that is. Aye." -- [transcription of Tak Rennod's outgoing message]

To date, there is nothing convoluted in this show. I think the mint is indeed a mint, and At Attin was chosen for this purpose because of its resources, and possible location. It is possible in the intervening century those resources ran out and the Supervisor is covering it up. In this case, I think the simplest explanation will be the answer. We just don't know what the creators decided what that means.

Yeah. Thus far, the creators seem to not have stupid answers for nearly all questions raised. Which is a real feat these days.

Some crazy speculation follows, I don’t know if this is an original idea, but I’m sharing it anyway!

    What if…

Rennod = Ren[nod] = Ren from the Knights of Ren

From the following site, in which this quote from Ren sounds piratey to me: “The Ren doesn't stop to worry about what it's burning or the right or wrong of it, or the goals it might achieve. The Ren just is. It lives, and it consumes, and it doesn't apologize. It is its nature and nothing else."

    https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Knights_of_Ren

Also, the Night Buzzard feels visually similar to the old skin on the Onyx Cinder.

Or Rennod is a progenitor of the Knights of Ren.

Don't think they went that deep with name in the story itself. Rennod is just Donner backwards, and Richard Donner was director of The Goonies.

My in stink tell me they should. My proposed sensible fan-favorite timeline for all to consider. Hear me out:
    1. Senator Palpatine use connection to our favorite muun Hego Damask to learn of secret Old Republic treasury/mint.
    2. Palpatine use his observatories to find the nine planetary jewels.
    3. Palpatine makes Rennod his friend, uses mind trick, tells him to find the treasure/treasury.
    4. First mate on Onyx Cinder betrays Rennod, and in his stead, takes over the ship and christens himself “Ren” in honor of his former boss.
    5. Palpatine release the Snoke Kraken into Old Republic territories.
    6. Snoke finds gold bathrobe, transformation into evil Dark Sider complete.
    7. Ren takes pirate friends to At Achrann to complete the “one good death” challenge by killing the planet’s Supervisor.
    8. Snoke meets Ren.
    9. Snoke creates the Knights of Ren, delivers them to Palpatine on Exegol, begin the Crimson Reign revolt seen in comic.
    10. Time for “Snoke Hides and Chill” until holo cameos for new sequel movie.
    Facts!
