Comics Star Wars: Jedi Knights (New Marvel series)

Oh how I hope this plays out as awesomely as it looks!

In that I hope he’s indeed a genetics master and has his army of clones with him. It could be a pre-Clone Wars canon version of the Morgukai army, which after all was inspired by the old EU idea that the CW were fought against cloners. Extra points if some of the genetic material is preserved at the end by a certain Sith Lord intent on genetic experiments. Whatever happens, I hope it’s more than just a quick cameo.

 

I read about Atha Prime and I cannot say how excited I am. Talk about deep cuts.

Ever since I read the article in SW Galaxy magazine in 1995/1996 about the lost toys and saw his sketches, never did I think we’d get the master geneticist and architect of the clone wars in any form. I know his story will be different but making him a threat to the Jedi and the Republic makes him sound formidable. Here’s hoping he isn’t a one and done villain in these issues. Fingers crossed for an eventual black series or vintage collection release.

I am intrigued by the mention of a

"ninja like villain" - Kage I wonder? Or perhaps Night Wind or Kohoun? Or perhaps something new?

 

For those who haven't noticed, the title logo for this comic seems to be an intentional riff on the logo of LucasArts' 1997 Jedi Knight game (going so far as to use the same typeface, Matrix II).

 

My conspiracy theory is that they’re announcing a remaster of that game when the comic series launches. Now that Jedi Power Battles has come and gone, they can move onto marketing the next remaster. And Dark Forces came out about a year ago. I don’t believe the marketing cycles for Aspyr and Nightdive SW games ever really overlap.

 

It's crazy that the live action cutscenes were the first live action Star Wars people had seen since the original trilogy ended in '83.

 

Not quite: an earlier LucasArts game took that title, Rebel Assault II from 1995, which also had FMV cutscenes. (And that's still not counting the two Ewoks TV movies, of course.)

 

Don't forget the Interactive VHS game from 1996, which even included new Vader footage with Prowse back in the costume (his last time playing the character, I believe) and voiced by JEJ.

He would need a Brother title given that every one of the Inquisitorius is called X Brother or X Sister depending on when they killed a Jedi.

Jerec starting his own rogue Dark Jedi team separate from the traditional bro&sis inquisitors would actually fit his old chaotic persona. I could also see Palps financing/backing someone who has an interest and knowledge of ancient artifacts. There is something heirarchal and militant about the Disney inquisitors that is lacking in Jerec's crew, who are more like the psychopath Blackhole/Kadann bunch. It would even be interesting to see Jerec leading a Dark Jedi faction in the Empire that runs parallel, and sometimes counter, with the Grand Inquisitor's bunch (one answering to Palpatine and gathering relics, the other answering to Vader and putting down Jedi).

Regardless, Jerec has always been critically underused. It would be great if he showed up in this series, maybe in relation to the "overarching threat" uniting the stories. Although I would bet nothing on it because we're talking about font here.

 

One of my headcanons is that maybe Jerec actually poked his own eyes out in order to deepen his connection with the Force, rather like how the evil sorcerer Klingsor in Wagner's Parsifal gelded himself in an extreme attempt to rein in his lustful desires.

 

Like Marrok I could see him discarding the Brother title after the fall of the empire and just going by his name since who is going to stop him now.

The chancellor is referred to as male which would imply this is either during Kalpana or Valorum's term. I'd assume the later cause Obi-Wan would be quite young during the formers.
