I like that they are hyping this like it's a big deal on par with announcing the Avengers cast. It's important and the only thing that's going to hold as much weight will be announcing the X-Men.

I guess the unofficial/unadvertised hype is that this movie is the start of Phase 6 right?

That Galactus shot is gold. I honestly think that Galactus is going to "win" and eat their planet which is how the FF ends up in the MCU universe. It would be kinda dark if Galactus ate the laugh track kids/entire planet though, I guess

Correct. Phase 6 is, at present, 4 films. F4, Doomsday, Spider-Man 4, and Secret Wars. Plus 2 live-action (Wonder Man & Vision Quest) and 2 animated series (Eyes of Wakanda, Marvel Zombies). 2 more films may sneak in there between Avengers movies (or 1 between, and 1 epilogue ala Ant-Man for P2 or FFH for P3), with Black Panther 3, Doctor Strange 2, Blade, X-Men and Shang-Chi 2 on the short list, and probably at least 1 series (Nova).

The child laugh track is how you'll know Galactus is approaching. The cosmic world-eater equivalent to the Nokia phone in Jurassic Park III. ;)

That's really the one thing this movie has going for it. The quality of villains in superhero movies has been in a tailspin for a decade. Galactus is kind of the gold standard for interstellar hypervillains. Might as well go big or go home, and they are going big.

Marvel Studios did punt Thanos to the A-list villainy by sheer force of will alone though.

Anyway not for any reason but I got a feeling that there isn't going to be just a year between Doomsday and Secret Wars like Infinity War and Endgame, probably 2

Thanos was a dimwit with a deep misunderstanding of the nature of exponential growth. A giant waste of screen time.

They already have the dates locked. It's the next two Mays/Marvel Weekends. They don't have enough projects far enough along to fill another year of films in-between if they delayed SW.

Problem is all the best villains were for a long time owned by other studios.

X-Men, Spider-Man, Fantastic Four have the best Marvel antagonists.

Third time's the charm? Glad some people are enthusiastic about the third cinematic reboot of this comic group of superheroes. I'll wait for the Disney Plus premier, thank you very much. I don't think I've even seen the previous one.

There was one in 2005, one in 2015, and now this new one coming out in the Summer.

Does that mean in 2035 there will be fourth reboot?

I think it looks pretty good. It immediately interests me on a visual level, which is more than I can say about most MCU films.
I'm picky about which MCU movies I watch these days, but I'll definitely see this one.

It looks fairly promising even with the pall of the whole RDJ as Doom stunt casting hanging over it.

I like the look, but not the attitude. He doesn't sound like he's from the Bronx.

Is it me or does Ben's voice not yet match with the CGI? I get it's hard for rocks to emote, but it doesn't quite look right when he talks with HERBIE.

Am I the only one that thinks a bad guy the size of an entire planet is kind of stupid? What is the point?

Yes I know who he is. It's stupid. Why do you want to watch Stretch Armstrong and a guy with what is essentially a flamethrower fight an entire astronomical sized being? What is compelling about that to you? it goes beyond difficult odds and straight into absurdity.

It reminds me of Samuel L. Jackson monologuing in Unbreakable. Some of the best superhero movies, like the Tim Burton Batman and the first and second Raimi Spider-men, do a great job of creating a villain who is sort of on a parallel but inverted path with the hero. I'd agree with you that once you've created a villain who is so distant from human motives and problems that it might as well be a giant asteroid hurtling at earth as an actual villain, you've made the job of creating an emotional connection with the audience a lot harder. It's possible to identify a bit with Doc Ock and Nicholson's Joker. It's still possible for a superhero movie to be entertaining without that parallel journey, but it's harder. It's a lot easier to end up with mothing but empty and hollow bombast like all the Avengers movies.

Their relationships are going to be key. That's what is going to sell the movie. I thought the 2005 cast had great chemistry and then it was good but not great in the sequel. So if the 2025 version makes me care about the "first" family like they made me care about the first avenger, iron man, thor, etc...then that will be the determination if I like the movie or not. The trailer gives hint of Reed trying to fix everyone like he was going in the 2005 one and we really don't need a remake of the 2005 one so I guess it's still too early to tell.
